KAMAKALAKALI TRILOKYAMOHANA KAVACHAM Mahākālasaṁhitā - kāmakalākālīkhaṇḍaḥ -- Trilokyamohanakavaca upadeśaḥ महाकालसं हता – कामकलाकालीख डः -- ल ैो यमोहनकवच उपदे शः

(As told by Mahākālā to Devi in Mahākālasaṁhitā) {Number of recitations and benefits as prescribed in Mahākālasaṁhitā: single recitation - all sins are destroyed; three times – long life; 100 times – all types of siddhis (superhuman powers); 1000 times – becomes messenger of Śiva; 10,000 times – one becomes Śiva. This mantra is capable of providing everything that is desired. It protects from extreme miseries, cures acute ailments, gives strong body, protects against enemies, protects from premature and unnatural deaths. It destroys all accrued sins. It is also capable of providing kingdom (richness). Mantra part of the kavaca consists of twenty verses, all in couplets, except the last one. There are thirty four Śakti-s (goddesses) mentioned in this mantra and they protect thirty four bodily parts. The mantra becomes extremely powerful because of the usage of multiple bīja-s. It is like Durgāsaptaśatī - pūrvabhāgaḥ (first chapter) - kavacam, but trailokayamohana rahasya kavaca vastly differs from Durgāsaptaśatī mainly because of the multiple and powerful bīja-s. To cap it all, this was told by Mahākālā to Devi.} TRILOKYAMOHANAKAVACAḤ अ य

I was searching for the "Trailokya Mohana Kavacham from KaliKhanda for many years and never found it. Thanks to you,now I have it. I will start recite it from now and what time is the best to recite this Maha Rahasya Kavacham? Reply Replies MANBLUNDER

Scriptures say that the best time to recite mantras is early in the morning, before sunrise. But according to me (from my own experience), the best time would be when the mind is free.

There is nothing much to give meaning for this mantra, as the highest potency is conferred only by the bīja-s, some of them of difficult to pronounce. Word pātu is frequently repeated here and pāta means protection. Thirty four Devi-s mentioned here protect different body parts. Thanks for your good words and prayers. All this is possible only due to HER GRACE. Reply

KAMAKALAKALI TRILOKYAMOHANA KAVACHAM

It is to be noted that klīṁ, krīṁ, hūṁ, kroṁ and sphroṁ in the beginning are placed in the reverse order after kāmakalākāli. This is generally known as sampuṭaka (encasing), which makes a mantra extremely powerful. Reply Replies Roshan January 8, 2013 at 11:45 PM Should we recite this mantra before or after reciting the Kavacham and how many times to recite to get mantra siddhi? Is the KAMAKALAKALI TRILOKYAMOHANA KAVACHAM a siddha mantra which requires only a single recitation to yield benefits or does one have to do it at least 50,000 japas to get result? Thank you again for sharing one of the most secret Kavacham and the mūla mantraḥ.

Mūla mantra should always be recited first. Number of recitations is not prescribed. The Scripture says that mere listening to this mantra will give siddhi. But according to me, at least 10,000 mūla mantra-s should be recited to see some benefits. As far as kavacham is concerned, it is given in the article itself.

If you are talking about Mūla mantra, it will give protection and material benefits. If we look at this mantra from the point of view of kavacham, then Mūla mantra should also give immense benefits. Recitation of Mūla mantra adds power to the recitation of kavacham. There are nine powerful Kāli mantras in Mahākālasaṁhitā. I will publish them soon.

I have already explained about OM in a separate http://www.manblunder.com/2009/05/understanding-om.html

article

titled

1) Kāma bīja - klīṁ लीं Consists of ka + la + ī + bindu (dot) Ka represents Kriṣṇa or desire; la represents Indra: ī represents contentment and satisfaction and the bindu represents comfort by dispelling pains and miseries This is the reason why bindu is used in all the mantras. Without bindu, a bīja is not complete. Thus kāmabīja fulfils all material desires. Every bīja has inherent nāda (subtle sound), which subtly causes the sound and this nāda is the power or Grace of Śakti, which is to be visualized in the form of light to derive the full effect of a bīja 2) Kāli bīja - krīṁ

Consists of ka + ra + ī + bindu (dot) In this bīja, ka represents Kāli; la represents Brahmā; ī represents annihilation of miseries. This bīja, due to the power of Brahmā (not Brahman; here it refers to the god of creation), Kāli removes all pains. 3) Bhairava bīja - hūṁ हू ं(this is also known as kūrca bīja, subtly referring to ājñāa cakra) Consists of ha + ū + bindu Ha represents Śiva; ū represents Bhairava. Bindu refers to removal of sufferings. This bīja is capable of removing ill effects evil forces. This acts as a protective bīja. 4) The bījā kroṁ ( ) is formed out of three alphabets –ka + ra + ma with a bindu. The alphabet ka stands for joy and fame. The alphabet ra is considered as powerful as it is the bīja of agni, the fire. Any mantra with ra bestows supernatural powers. The alphabet ma stands for comforts in the present and future births. The repeated chanting of kroṁ will give all-round prosperity and happiness. This is explained here http://www.manblunder.com/2009/07/lalitha-sahasranamam6667.html I do not have any idea about sphroṁ. I will let you know about this latter.

Pydipal March 12, 2013 at 4:50 AM Thank you Raviji for this wonderful explanation on the bijas. In one edition of Mahakala Samhita Kamakala kali khanda- bija "Sphrem" is written instead of "Sphrom". In the text I have, in mantra part it is mentioned as sphroṁ ( http://www.manblunder.com/2013/01/kamakalakali-trilokyamohana-kavacham.html

) but in chapter II where 9/35

12/9/2014

KAMAKALAKALI TRILOKYAMOHANA KAVACHAM

mantra is explained, it is mentioned thus. Bhūtabīja sphreṁ ( ) is formed by joining s + ph + ra + e + and bindu (dot) {स ् + फ् +र + ए and ब द}ु . And in subsequent discussions it is only mentioned as sphreṁ ( ). Hence sphreṁ ( ) appears to be correct. Bhūtabīja represents formation of worldly creation. (There is a reference to Bhūtabīja in Śrīmad Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa.) Hence two sphroṁ-s ( ) appearing in this mantra should be replaced by sphreṁ ( ) This is the revised and correct mantra: ॐ लीं ं हू ं कामकलाकािल हू ं ंलींवाहा। om klīṁ krīṁ hūṁ kroṁ sphreṁ kāmakalākāli sphreṁ kroṁ hūṁ krīṁ klīṁ svāhā | Though the error is not at my end, still it is a error. Error is regretted.

Pydipal March 13, 2013 at 7:01 AM Thank you Raviji for the correction. Out of curiosity regarding the mantra formations, I wanted to know the effect of the mantra if "sphrem" is used in the first samputa and "sphrom" is used in the second samputa (instead of "sphrem")? MANBLUNDER

May 24, 2013 at 8:01 PM

It can be explained thus. Tripura means three worlds, which refers to all triads. For example, knowledge, knower and the known is a triad, there are three guṇa-s, Icchā, jñāna and kriyā śakti-s, etc. When all these triads are burnt, one enters into the state of Bliss, Ānanda. Ānanda is Parāśakti. When Shiva decides to liberate a person, He annihilates all the triads in him and thereby making him to be one with Parāśakti. That person is now in the state of Bliss. When a person is handed over to Her by Shiva like this, She further purified him by Her Grace and compassion and imparts knowledge about Shiva. You are right in saying internalizing Maha Shakti. In fact, Maha Shakti is already present in him and He only makes to realize that Maha Shakti within. His soul is ready to be liberated. These two articles explain how a soul is liberated, though in a gross way. Journey to Sri Chakra 18 Journey to Sri Chakra 19

Prakṛti is Nature, the original or primary substance and vikṛti is modifications. Mostly these terms are used in Ayurveda. Prakṛti is the basic constitution of a human body throughout his life. Vikṛti is the constitution of the body at a given moment. If Prakṛti is the primary mode in which first creation happens, vikṛti then means further growth. Both are feminine energies.

Śiva says in Liṅga Purāṇa (I.87.9-11) “She is śruti and smṛti. She is fortitude, stabilised by me. She is the power of knowledge, kriya (rite) and icchā (will). She is Ājñā. Undoubtedly we are the vidyā-s. The prakṛti (cause) does not belong to the jīva (embodied soul). Nor is She a vikṛti (effect) on consideration. She is māyā. She is not a vikāra (effect only). Formerly She originated from my mouth at my behest. She is the eternal deity of five faces (possibly referring to Gāyatrī). She is highly blessed and bestows fearlessness of the worlds. At Her ājñā (here it means command), I think about the welfare of the worlds. I am Śiva.” After having understood this, your question can be explained as follows. If Prakṛti is the cause of the mantra, then vikṛti is the effect of mantra. For example if we recite OM by closing our lips, we can observe vibration happening in the body. This is the effect and this is vikṛti. There could be other explanations also.

Anonymous June 15, 2013 at 1:58 AM Dear Sir, Thank you for the explanation.. But I need to know what it means by the following statement "In the existence of Prakriti, Vikriti will not be strengthful". So is prakriti taken here as vac only and vikriti as gross form or effect? Thank you once again.

There are different classifications of bīja mantras (not japa mantras) based on their potency. A bīja is monosyllabic sound, mostly one or more vowel or consonants and ending with bindu, for example aṁ, laṁ, raṁ, kaṁ. Potency is measured on their capacity to give mukti. There are japa mantras that are very powerful and are capable of giving only liberation (mukti) only if the japa mantra contains many para bīja-s (parabīja also refers to sauḥ, which is not part of this discussion here). Let us take OM, which is a prakṛti mantra, which means a source mantra. Similarly other bīja mantras evolve from a source mantra, which is called prakṛti and the effect of this bīja mantra is called vikṛti. Technically speaking, prakṛti is the source and vikṛti is the effect and this phenomenon is known as prakṛti- vikṛti concept. There are certain mantras which are gross in nature and are considered as a lower category mantra. Here comes the concept of ātmabīja, which is given to the disciple by his Guru. At the time of initiation, a Guru gives two mantras to his disciple. One is the bīja mantra which is known as ātmabīja, which directly works on his soul and another mantra is pada mantra, which is a regular mantra like Bālā, Pañcadaśī, etc. At the time of initiation, Guru advises his disciple how to use the ātmabīja given to him. A lot can be discussed about mantras. I hope that I have answered your query. http://www.manblunder.com/2013/01/kamakalakali-trilokyamohana-kavacham.html

Anonymous June 16, 2013 at 10:51 PM Thank you for the explanation sir. So If a prakriti mantra is sure to give us Mukti (since it has the potency)then will a vikriti mantra (Produced) will give only material benefits? I hope I understood it clearly.

MANBLUNDER

June 16, 2013 at 11:01 PM

It depends upon the mantra. Vikṛti is only the effect. It all depends upon a particular mantra, its nature, its potency, bīja-s used, formation of mantra, whether is encased (sampuṭīkaraṇa), etc. When a mantra is capable of giving mukti, it is to be understood, that it is also capable of granting material benefits. But when an aspirant is seeking mukti, he will not ask for material benefits. Ultimately, it is only the mind that matters.

Unless you are personally seen, it is difficult to explain about that Light. In general, one can physically see the Light in ajna chakra, if kunalini is fully active. You have to remain with that Light in meditation as long as you can. Kundalini awakens and goes to higher chakras depending upon various factors. A small spiritual statement, or a mantra, or a verse or meeting a spiritually realized person (need not always be a Guru) could trigger your kundalini to become fully active. Regularly practice meditation. Concentrate on your ajna chakra and findout whether you are able to reach back head chakra, which just behind ajna chakra on the back of the head.

The best way to make a samkalpa is through mind. Visualize that your relative is getting cured while reciting this mantra. At the end of recitation, affirm mentally that he is completely cured. When you recite with determined mind and absolute faith in this mantra, he will get cured gradually. Once recitation with perfect pronunciation is enough to get the benefits. But ultimately, it is one's karma that decides everything.

It is a Tantric Scripture, divided mainly into two parts tattva and sādhana (principle or knowledge and practice). It consists of both mantras and rituals. Some of the mantras are extremely rare. It is in the form of conversation between Devi and Mahākāla (terrific form of Śiva). It deals with mantras of about 27 śakti-s like Tārā, Chinnmastā, Kālī, etc. Reply

The most precious Parama tatva (supreme principle) or energy responsible for creation at the beginning of the Cosmos is eternal. The whole Cosmos came into being because of Śakti (This Śakti is Parama tatva and is independent of Paramaśiva). In fact, Truth (sat) is Paramaśiva and Citi is His Śakti (power or energy) and therefore they (Śiva and Śakti) are inseparable, in fact they are one and the same. Śakti (energy) lies dormant in Paramaśiva in the beginning but in the Viśvamaya state (containing the universe), since She is independent, She becomes responsible for the origin of Viśva. In this Viśvamaya state, everything is in disorder (chaotic). In this disorder form, She is known as Unmanā (Supramental Śakti of Paramaśiva in Her primal move towards manifestation, yet remaining inseparable from Him). This same Śakti is known as Samanā (Unmanā Śakti begins to display Herself in the form of the universe) when everything is in order. She is Samanā because She/this is the limit for mind and She/this is also the end/limit of kāla, (time such as past, present and future). Samanā Śakti determines/defines the kāla and that's why She is called as Kālī or Kālasaṅkarṣiṇī. In this universe, whatever happens in order is due to Her (Kālī) rule and direction. So, Paramaśiva materializes or reflects ahaṁ in the universe through his Parāśakti. Ahaṁ idaṁ means in spite of being inseparable, at the origin of the universe, His Parāpara Śaktī works in a different/separate form. Through the Aparā Śakti, He gives rise to the world that is in idaṁ form. Kālī’s Parā form represents the ahaṁ in the universe. The parāpara or sūkṣma (subtle) form represents ahaṁ-idaṁ.

Guliano February 6, 2013 at 7:47 PM Incredible description of Kali. But why is Shiva called Mahakala?

MANBLUNDER

February 6, 2013 at 7:54 PM

He is Mahākāla, the Supreme Destroyer. He alone can annihilate the universe and no body else, hence He is Mahākāla. He is not only the Creator but also the Annihilator. The sustenance is carried out by Śakti, which includes death of individuals. Ultimately, there are only two principles, Śiva and Śakti or Śiva and His Independent Power of Autonomy (svātantrya śakti). http://www.manblunder.com/2013/01/kamakalakali-trilokyamohana-kavacham.html

Anonymous February 6, 2013 at 9:56 PM Shiva is worshipped as Mahakala in Ujjain and the Mahakala Shiva Temple in Ujjain is counted third among the twelve Jyotirlingas. There is an interesting story which explains about the Mahakaleshwar form of Shiva – a fierce form which is beyond imagination and description. The story took place when Ujjain was known as Avanti and is mentioned in the Shiva Purana. Once there lived a pious man in Avanti who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. He had four sons and the family worshipped Lord Shiva daily. Not far away from their home in a hill named Ratanmala there lived an Asura (demon) named Dooshana. Demon Dooshana hated all forms of Shiva and vedic worship. He went around killing people who worshipped Shiva. Soon Dooshana came to know about the family in Avanti that worshipped Shiva. Soon the demon arrived with his army and attacked the city. But the family continued to worship Shiva in the form of a Shivling. Finally, the demon and soldiers reached the home of the pious man and started hurling weapons. The demon broke open the door and advanced towards the Shivling by raising a sword. Suddenly, there was a deafening sound and there appeared a dreadful form beyond explanation before the Shivling. A single glance by the Mahakala form of Shiva burned the demon and his army into ashes. Uncontrollable and unsatisfied, the form of Shiva gave a huge roar; the entire universe trembled in fear. The family was but delighted to see Lord Shiva and continued chanting his glory and prayers. Before his true devotees, Shiva is always the Bholenath – one can be easily influenced. Hearing the prayers of his devotees, His anger subsided. But the family who was aware of the dangers of the world realized that the form of Shiva as http://www.manblunder.com/2013/01/kamakalakali-trilokyamohana-kavacham.html

Anonymous February 17, 2013 at 10:21 PM Thank you, I will send him your link now and is there a specific mantra for Mahakala?

MANBLUNDER

February 17, 2013 at 10:32 PM

To my knowledge no. There are many mantras for different forms of Shakti. But Shiva does not have many forms. He is always Shiva and His Power is known as Shakti. As there are different types of powers, Shakti is known through different forms and each form has certain mantras. But Shiva is one. He is Brahman as well as individual soul. Even though He is worshiped as Bhairva, Mahākālā, Rudra, etc ultimately He remains the same. Hence the only powerful mantra for Him is "Om Namashivaya".

Anonymous February 17, 2013 at 10:51 PM Thank you for this amazing explanation. How many times should one recite Om Namashivaya to realize him as one's own self and get his darshan and what is the proper way to recite this mantra. I have read your post on alignment of breath for mantra recitations and how can one recite Shiva mantra with breath and if possible, can you provide the meditation also.

MANBLUNDER

February 17, 2013 at 11:15 PM

There cannot be any limitation for recitations. Self can be realized only through the mind. In order to control the mind, breath alignment with mantra is necessary. One inhalation should be synced with on recitation of "Om Namashivaya" and similarly one exhalation should be synced with "Om Namashivaya". By doing so, the mind is not distracted and will get fixed both on the mantra and the breath. Thus, one gets disconnected from sensory organs at least for that moment. When this is practiced for longer duration, say about ten minutes, at least for couple of minutes, one is bound to get disconnected from sensory organs. With practice, this two minutes will increase to three, four minutes, etc. Practicing this for ten minutes twice a day is sufficient. At some point of time, mind will become quiet. This is the starting point for spiritual practice.

MANBLUNDER

First one should concentrate on mantra; then mantra should be aligned with breath. When perfection is attained in both, it would be ideal to fix concentration on ajna chakra. When concentration is fixed on ajna chakra, you are bound to enter into the state of micro trance (trance lasting for a few second to a minute or two, where mantra and breath are not observed). Mahiṣamardinī is correct. Mahiṣa is the name of a demon and mardin means destroyer. Because Mahiṣa was killed by Her, She is known as Mahiṣamardinī. Asura means demon. When it is Mahiṣāsuramardinī it means Mahiṣa + asura + mardinī or destroyer of demon by name Mahiṣa. Asura is only to indicate that he is a demon. http://www.manblunder.com/2013/01/kamakalakali-trilokyamohana-kavacham.html

I know there is a curse removal mantra, but I am not able to get hold of this mantra now. In case I get this, I will post it here. Mantras cannot be explained. It it only the bija-s that work. At the most it can be explained that dakṣiṇa Kālī is encased (sampuṭīkaraṇa) between these bija-s. Any mantra that is encased will be powerful, as the potency of the mantra will remain with the practitioner. It is known as sampuṭīkaraṇa in Sanskrit, which means 'furnished with a lid'.

Anonymous April 30, 2013 at 7:42 PM Thanks! In this mantra is it Dakshin or Dakshine ?

She is known as Dakṣiṇa Kālī. In other words, Her name is Dakṣiṇa Kālī. But in mantra, She is adored as Dakṣiṇe Kālike due to chandas, etc. In japa you should say only Dakṣiṇe Kālike.

Anonymous April 30, 2013 at 8:11 PM I have substituted द originally above :ॐ

णे for द

ण. So the final mantra is as below & NOT as posted

ंंं हू ं हू ं ंं द णे कािलके ं ं ं हू ं हू ं ं ंवाहा॥

Can you please confirm this ?

You can use either द णे or द ण. Some texts say द णे , which seems to be more appropriate as this is used both in Mantramahodadhi and Mantramaharnava. In fact I have noticed that I have used द ण in the mantra after you have pointed out. I would like to go with द णे . Mistake is on my part and I am sorry about this. Many mantras are cursed by sages, saints and even by gods. Even, Gayatri mantra is cursed and this is explained in this article. http://www.manblunder.com/2012/08/removal-of-curses-of-gayatri-mantra.html Those sages, saints and gods who have cursed the mantra have also said how these curses can be removed and also explained the mantra by which his curse can be removed. These curse removal mantras are not easily available nowadays and hence many do not know about the existence of such mantras. If one wants to attain siddhi in a particular mantra, he has to find out whether there are any curses are there for a particular mantra. In the curse removal mantra itself how many times the curse removal mantra is to be recited. Unless this is done, one may not get the effects of the main mantra. Thank you for your good words. Reply

We cannot take certain things on face value. For example, Lalitā Sahasranāma says that if one recites at least on one full moon day, he or she is liberated? It also says that if this is recited on every Friday, one becomes riches. We know many many people recite LS and they are not rich. Such things are not practically possible. When such verses are composed by sages, they add such benefits to make people recite their verses regularly. Nothing beyond this. Ultimately, it is the union of our mind with our breath and consciousness alone takes forward in our spiritual pursuit. Take this verse as an example. There are many bījākṣara-s in this verse and when we repeat these bījākṣaras, our breath rate comes down, our mind stays focused and our consciousness is purified, causing Bliss. This is what really matters. Reply

It gives powers to conquer the three words referred in Gayatri mantra. The benefits are given at the commencement of the verse.

To my limited knowledge hlīṁ (hleem) is not used in any mantras. This combination is also not possible because 'ha' is the cause of many mantras and omnipresent. But 'la' is related to earth and used for stambhaka, etc. We have to exercise extreme caution in pronouncing mantras, as otherwise, it could cause irreversible damage. Reply

Bala May 8, 2014 at 6:49 PM Guruji Will above Dakshina Kalike moola mantra provides us with Self-realisation?Also in which chakra does that bijam 'krim' acts?I heard some bija mantras acts in ajna while some other in some lower chakras and produce heat. Reply Replies MANBLUNDER

There are nine vargas in Sanskrit letters and 'ka' varga is the second one, which works on throat chakra. However, the second part of krīṁ (īṁ) carries the vibrations from the throat chaka towards ājñācakra and ends at the bindu (representing the dot on m) at sahasrāra. Regarding the first point, mantras as such do not cause Self-realization. Self realization is possible only if we work on our prāṇa, mind and consciousness. Mantra also brings the mind under control along with prāṇa. Reply
