Description

JURISTS PAGE SET-UP PROTOCOL WRITING QUESTION AND SUBQUESTION NUMBERS & LETTERS 1. Follow instructions on whether you will write or not on the first page. Usually there is a directive in the first page that you should not write there. 2. Write your answers only on the front (not the back) page of every sheet in your booklet. 3. If the front pages provided in your Examination Notebook are not sufficient for your answers, use the back page of every sheet of your Examination Notebook, starting at the back page of the first sheet you wrote on and then the succeeding back pages as may be necessary. 4. In numbering your answers, use or adopt the numbering/letter system in the questionnaire. Traditionally Roman Numerals have been used in the bar examination for the main questions and letters enclosed in parentheses, e.g., (A) or (a), have been used for subquestions. For subquestions, use the case (upper or lower) used by the examiner. BE CAREFUL IN NUMBERING YOUR ANSWERS. 5. Use bars above and below the Roman Numerals, thus: III rather than III

6. Start each number on a separate page. Write the Roman numeral at the center just above the first line. (See sample page set-up). 7. If the number contains subquestions, write the first number on the space just above the first line and then after one space write (A) or (a), as the case may be and then after another space, the text of the answer proper. (See sample page set-up). 8. It is recommended that you write the answer to a succeeding subquestion not on the same page but on the immediately succeeding page and so forth. Write the subquestion letter at the first line. MARGINS & PAGE SETUP Upper margin

9 Do not write on the upper two lines except insofar as to write the question number and subquestion letter. SPACING 10. Use single-spacing, but there should be space: a) Between Question Number and a subquestion letter. b) Between a subquestion letter and the text of the answer. c) Between paragraphs. Put 2 spaces between a Question Number and the text of the answer proper. Lower margin 11. Do not write on the lower two lines. Side margins 12. About 1-inch margin on the sides (approximately the width of two fingers placed vertically on the margins). There is no need to be exact about this measurement, the examinee can simply approximate or eyeball the 1-inch margin. The important thing is that there is a margin on the sides to prevent a cramped look to the page and make the same more pleasing to the reader. The use of margins may be termed the “pictureframe” style or method.
