About the Author

JUAN ANTONIO MURO completed his studies at the Barcelona ConservatorioSuperior de Musica in 1973.His teacher there wa the present professor of guitar at the Conservatory,Jose Luis Lopdtegui. At the end of his studies he won the Conservatory' Prixd 'Honneur.Afterwards he continuedhis studies with other teachers, among them Narciso Yepes, for musical interpretation and in 1973-74, composition with the Finnish composer Enojuhani Rautavaara.

Juan Antonio Muro composes for chamber groups, the guitar being an important element in his compositions. He has madc many recordings for Television and Radio and participated in numerous international music courses and festivals. Ht regularly performs in chamber music ensembles all over Europe. He is a member of the Finnish Guitar Trio who have recordec his arrangement of the complete score of De Falla's El Amor Brujo for Chorus Productions in Finland, together with a selectior of contemporary Finnish guitar music. He is a lecturer of guitar, pedagogy and modem chamber music at the Helsink Conservatory since 1973. Juan Antonio Muro is also a professional painter and holds regular exhibitions. In 1992he received his Diploma from the Fret Art School of Helsinki for concrete and abstract painting.

BASIC PIECES is above all a collection of works offering an alternative to traditional methods. As it has been planned to provide didactic material as well as a repertoire of small works suitable for concerts it may be, and indeed is being, used as a method. It can however also function well in a complementary r61e with another teaching method.

BASIC PIECES ist vor allem eine Sammlung von Werken, die eine Alternative zu den traditionellen Methoden anbietet. Da es als didaktisches Material und auch als ein Repertoire von kleineren Werken, die fiir Konzerte geeignet sind, geplant wurde, kann es und wird es auch erfolgreich als eine Methode benutzt. Es k a m aber auch in Zusammenhang mit einer anderen Lehrmethode funktionieren.

BASIC PIECES est avant tout une collection de pieces offrant une alternative aux methodes traditionnelles. Conqu pour prodiguer un materiel didactique et un repertoire de petites pieces convenant au concert, l'ouvrage peut @tre(et sera) utilise comme une methode, et peut egalement avoir un r6le complementaire avec n'importe quelle autre methode.

This Second Volume develops the principles explained in the 1st volume, whose main didactic purpose is the development of the basic right hand mechanisms which form the foundation of guitar technique.
