Ensure the equipment operator, riggers are experienced to do the task and have the necessary valid documents and licenses of the state of Kuwait Ensure the ground condition is in safe working condition and underground services if any are generated Ensure access way is free of obstructions Ensure the approach to emergency equipment is not blocked by properly planning and placing the equipments/ materials. Obtain all necessary personnel and equipments entry permissions from company Use all necessary PPE and conduct TBT. First Aid kit shall be available at all times at the work station. Ensure lifting and rigging Awareness training is given to all personnel involved in the lifting / rigging activity

Also chapter 17 of “ Fire & safety regulation on lifting Equipment” Ensure the equipment is certified by company as per KOC SA 013- Temporary Mobile Equipment Procedure and fit for the intended purpose as required Ensure all lifting gears and shackles are inspected with necessary authorized 3rd party inspection certificates and color coded. Ensure all crane operator and riggers having 3rd party certification

Conduct regular visual inspection of all lifting gears and mechanism of crane prior to start any lifting operation by a competent rigging supervisor/ foreman Do not exceed 80% of the rated capacity of the crane for any loading/ unloading works Do not overload the lifting capacity of the crane as per manufacturer standards under any circumstances Do not override any inbuilt safety devices or take short cut during the lifting operations. All worn lifting tools/ tackles and those who don’t have 3rd party certification must be removed from site. All lifting tools and tackles must be free from grease

Do not stand below the suspended load Provide proper sign boards, barricade the lifting radius/ area where the activities are in progress and remove all possible tripping hazards in the lifting working area. Drink water frequently to avoid dehydration ( during both summer and winter) Clear instruction should be given to work crew regarding their individual roles and responsibilities Riggers must wear fluorescent vest for visibility during the full duration of lifting operation Provide adequately strong and long tag lines at both ends of the load Close supervision by a competent rigging supervisor Ensure signal man or rigger is visible with fluorescent vest to the crane operator during every phase of lifting activity Only one competent rigger to do the signaling or rigging activity. Ensure rigging crew is competent for the task and contractor’s SSA for lifting is completed Ensure to follow approved Method statement for any critical lifting as required.
Ensure the work place is maintained clear of debris, waste and other rubbish and make the place clean and tidy After job, ensure crane is secured to a safe position and all lifting tools * tackles are safely stored
