National foreword This standard has been published in accordance with a decision taken by CEN/TC 139 to adopt, without alteration, International Standard ISO 1514 as a European Standard. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Beschichtungsstoffe und Beschichtungen (Coatings and Coating Materials Standards Committee), Technical Committee Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Beschichtungsstoffe und Beschichtungen. Amendments This standard differs from the September 1997 edition in that it has been completely revised. Previous editions DIN 53227: 1970-02, 1978-04; DIN EN 605: 1992-07; DIN EN ISO 1514: 1997-09.

Foreword International Standard ISO 1514 : 2004 Paints and varnishes – Standard panels for testing, which was prepared by ISO/TC 35 ‘Paints and varnishes’ of the International Organization for Standardization, has been adopted by Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 ‘Paints and varnishes’, the Secretariat of which is held by DIN, as a European Standard. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, and conflicting national standards withdrawn, by June 2005 at the latest. In accordance with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
