Malaysk Custom ROM for RK3066 and RK3188 Head Units. Installation Guide. If you like my ROM and you think that I did not waste a lot of my time for nothing, you can express your appreciation by simply saying “Thank you” Or sending PayPal donations to
[email protected] Thank you. Malaysk. *To tell if the ROM is a FUSE or not, the FUSE file will have: update_4_4_4_FUSE_xxx---- in the beginning. Before you get started, be sure you can access to the recovery menu and able to navigate across the menu options. There are two types of installs. If your Head Unit (HU) has never had a Malaysk ‘FUSE’ type ROM or is completely stock from the factory you MUST do a ‘FIRST TIME INSTALLATION’. INSTALLATION’. If you have already installed a Malaysk ‘FUSE’ type ROM and simply wish to update to a newer version you can do an ‘UPDATE’.. There are two ways ‘UPDATE’ ways to do either either an update update or first time installation. installation. Either will work work but the ‘preferable’ ‘preferable’ is the easiest and best way to do it. *It is suggested to not update the MCU image file. MCU is the mapping of the functions of the HU. A different MCU image can change the mapping. If you do, make sure you can obtain your MCU image from somewhere. The file is not readily available in most cases 1|Page
Extract the file on your computer into a folder location and remember the location. Format the MicroSD card under windows as FAT32. Copy the update.img to the MicroSD card. You can copy the instructions and other files, but, the update.img must be in the root of the MicroSD card. Remove your current GPS MicroSD card from you HU GPS slot and place it in a safe place. Insert the update.img MicroSD card into the HU GPS slot.

Setting the GPS MicroSD card from your HU
Get your SD card from the GPS in your head unit, and put it in your computer. You will need to copy a file to your app storage area 6.2 If any of the following files or folders are present, delete them. It is unlikely you will find any of these on your SD card if you are installing fresh from either a factory ROM or another non-Malaysk ROM. a. mtc-launcher b. mtc-manager c. mtc-music
6.3 Find your download (make sure you have the right one for your head unit) and extract the files into a folder on your computer. Inside this folder you will find 2 folders, ‘Copy_TO_SD_External (GPS Card) -- From KM’ and ‘Copy_TO_SD_External (GPS Card) -- From MPH’, this is the time for you to make a choice. 14 | P a g e
If you would like your display in MPH, you will be copying the folders from inside ‘Copy_TO_SD_External (GPS Card) -- From MPH’, Or if you would like your display in KM/h, the you will be copying the folders found inside the ‘‘Copy_TO_SD_External (GPS Card) – From KM’ folder. a. When you navigate to the folder you choose (KM/MPH), inside that folder you will find 3 more folders. i. mtc-launcher ii. mtc-manager iii. mtc-music
b. Copy all 3 of these folders to the root of your GPS SD card 6.5 You are now ready to move to the next section. The root of your SD card should now contain the following files/folders. i. mtc-launcher ii. mtc-manager iii. mtc-music
