Installing Openfiler 2.99 on Vmware Workstation

Start up VMware Workstation, and within it click File->New Virtual Machine

Select Custom (advanced), Click Next

Browse for the Openfiler 2.99.1 iso file located in E:\Lab File\EG3784

Give the Openfiler virtual Machine a name such as OPF and save it in drive F or your own personal thumb drive.

The VM OPF is created. The next thing is to install the Openfiler iso onto this VM.

We need to add one more hard disk to store data file.

Power on the VM.

Openfiler installer screen appears.

Uncheck sdb.

Enter IP address as shown.

Since Openfiler VM is host-only connection. It is not necessary to have Default Gateway and DNS settings.

If you use Internet Explorer to access Openfiler as shown below, you may be advised to use other web browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

Start up Google Chrome web browser.

Enter the web link as shown.

User name is openfiler and password is password

The Network is updated.

Click Clock Setting

Click on Volumes on the menu bar

Click on create new physical volumes

The partition is created as shown.

Add the volume (partition) you created to this Volume Group in next few screens.

Click the Services Menu item

Start the iSCSI Target Service

Ensure iSCSI Target service is running

Power up ESXi host and chamhe your host IP address to 10.10.0.10

Change the IP address to 10.10.0.10 if it is different from this number.
