PGPX students undergo the rigorous, broad based academic process IIMA is renowned for. The profile of this batch is comparable to those at the best business schools across the globe in terms of cross-cultural work experience, knowledge of concepts in management and depth of experience. Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2011.  And, for the two consecutive years thereon, the PGPX programme has been proudly sporting a gold standard - A standard that has become a benchmark for career progression of business executives around the world. Yes, I refer to the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings for 2011 and 2012 which placed PGPX at Number One Worldwide in terms of Career Progress.  Dear Recruiters, it gives me immense satisfaction to introduce to you the 85 executives that constitute the class of PGPX 2012-13. These participants have been selected through a rigorous, internationally conducted admissions process that includes leadership profiling, personal interviews, and a highly competitive average GMAT score of 717. The candidates have work experience of about 10 years, and, despite being away from school for a reasonable period of time, they have gone through a highly demanding academic programme and intellectual rigour of IIMA. FPM The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is the doctoral programme of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The objective of the programme is to provide students with necessary skills to identify and research complex issues in the field of management. FPM seeks candidates with outstanding academic backgrounds, intellectual curiosity and discipline needed to make scholarly contribution. FPM is a research programme. To the selected students, IIMA provides an excellent environment for carrying out advanced research, thus creating highly committed researchers trained in the most recent methodologies and engaged in producing original research work. IIMA’s doctoral programme provides a diverse set of opportunities for interdisciplinary education and research. The small entering class ensures close interaction with the faculty, where students can determine their own directions under the guidance of their thesis advisory committees. The student becomes part of one of the ten functional/ sectoral groups and acquires the basic theoretical knowledge and practical aspects of the area. This

allows close interaction with faculty members, who provide the intellectual stimulation and help develop the student’s own research interests and professional goals. Students spend generally a little over four years that includes two years of rigorous course work. Placement Process At IIMA, placements are handled by the Student Placement Committee under the supervision of the faculty through a process that optimizes the interests of both the students and the companies. The student committee gets involved in the process right from corporate interactions (throughout the year), to pre-placement talks, to coordinating activities during placement process. There are two main placement activities on campus: Pre-placement  Talks/Corporate Presentations: Pre-placement presentations (up to 2 rounds) enable organizations to inform students about company’s business, work culture, organizational structure, career, and growth opportunities. We recommend a 30-minute presentation and a 15-minute Q&A session. Presence of senior executives and alumni helps create a better impact. This  year companies can plan to visit IIMA for delivering pre-placements talk starting 01-Oct-2012. For scheduling the talks, Student Placement Committee should be approached at least 7 days in advance. On-Campus  Recruiting: Companies can plan a visit to the IIMA campus for conducting placement interviews and making job offers to suitable student candidates during the placement season. This  year the placement season commences in the 3rd week of December and continues till 31-March-2013. Companies can approach Student Placement Committee about 2 weeks in advance for scheduling an on-campus placement session. Companies are discouraged to directly approach the students. Recruitment Fees There  is a fee for participating in the recruitment process, and a charge per successful hire (amounts will be informed by the placement committee member). Companies headquartered in India with a turnover of less than INR 100 crores and Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are exempt from the participation fee.
