Hot spring resorts Atami and Yugawara, just an hour by train from Tokyo, are famous for more than their bubbling waters. They are also spectacular ume blossom viewing sights. In Japan ume (a Japanese plum) blossoms first in Atami; 730 trees flower, including one tree over 100 years old. With three stages of blossom, early, middle and late, you can enjoy their beauty anytime during the festival.
