How to Use a Satellite Dvr With a Security Camera (Notes)

3) Run the coaxial cable from the modulator to the DVR.

4) Connect the security camera to the RF modulator. Plug the composite or S-vide o cable into the camera's corresponding outputs. The composite outputs on the ca mera will have the same red, white and yellow color codes. Plug the opposite end of these cables into the corresponding inputs on the RF modulator. Color codes and labeling will be the same on the modulator inputs. Refer to the owner's manu al for each device if you need help.

5) Connect the RF modulator to the satellite DVR. Connect one end of the RG6 coa xial cable to the modulator output. Refer to the manual for the exact location o f the output. The modulator can be configured to send the output to channel 3 or 4. Most satellite receivers are configured to send their signal to channel 3, s o set the switch located on the back of the modulator to channel 4. If your sate llite receiver is configured to channel 4, set the modulator to channel 3. Go to the satellite DVR and connect the other end of the RG6 cable from the modulator to the input on the satellite DVR labeled "TV Antenna/Cable In."

6) Turn on the camera and set it to record. Turn on the satellite DVR and the TV connected to it.

7) Access the TV Menu using the TV remote. Do not use the satellite DVR remote f or this Step. Run the "Channel Auto Scan" function. This will allow the TV to fi nd the signal from the security camera and save the new channel in memory as a c hannel with programming. Refer to the TV manual for specific instructions on how to do this.

8) Program the satellite DVR to record automatically if desired. Some satellite receivers will also allow you to merge the "Antenna/Cable" input into the progra m guide for easy selection. Refer to the receiver user guide for help. To view t he security camera channel, hit the "TV/Video" button on the satellite receiver remote. If the TV has several inputs, it may be necessary to hit the "TV/Video" button several times to get to the correct input. Alternately, you can also use the TV remote to change inputs. Viewing recorded items from the security camera is the same as viewing any other recorded program. Changing inputs is not requir ed.
