How to Schedule MMPV as a Batch Job to Open Close MM Periods

Introduction Some time back we discussed about how to open and close MM periods in SAP. (Click here to see that) This action has to be executed at the beginning of every month. Therefore some businesses prefer to have a scheduled batch job to do this task automatically. Below mentioned steps can be used to schedule MMPV transaction in background as a batch job. With this system will automatically close the previous month and open the current month.

Define a variant for the program "RMMMPERI"  

Go to transaction SE38 Enter the program as "RMMMPERI"



Click on the button



Give a name for the variant and click on the button



Now you will be directed to the transaction MMPV. Enter you "company code" and click on the button

. Leave other field blank



Give a description to your variant under the field "Meaning"



Go to "Selection Screen" section and select "D - D: Dynamic date calculation" for the raw "Date" under "Selection Variable" column



Click on the search help (F4) under column "Name of the variable (Input only using F4)" and select the option "First day of current month"



Once selected, you should be able to see below.



Now click on the button

and then save the variant using button

Define background job for the program "RMMMPERI"  

Go to transaction "SE38" and enter the program "RMMMPERI" From the menu, select the option "Program -> Execute -> Background"



Verify the report name and variant name in the screen and click on



Now give a job name under the field "Job" and specify the Start date and time.

 

Click on button Select option "Month" with interval value as "1"



Once you have successfully done that, you should be able to see below message;

View background scheduled jobs  

Go to transaction "SM37" You can either enter you "Job name" or leave it as "*"



Press the button



Now you should be able to see your job scheduled
