Installing TM1 10.1.0 64-bit, on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Installation Files: 1. IBM Cognos TM1 64-bit 10.1.0 Microsoft Windows Multilingual (Part: CI5TBML) Prerequisite: 1. Ensure IIS6 Management Compatibility is enabled See: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ctm1/v10r1m0/topic/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm 1_inst.10.1.0.doc/t_tm1_inst_configiis7tm1webvistawin7winsvr2008.html Steps to Install: 1. Download and extract the TM1 10.1.0 Installation files (Part: CI5TBML) 2. Navigate to the extracted files folder, locate issetup.exe 3. Right-click issetup.exe, and select ‘Run as Administrator’ 4. You may or may not be prompted regarding missing prerequisites: a. The following prerequisite is missing. Please cancel this installation at the first opportunity and install it; Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 See: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlblog/archive/2010/01/08/how-to-install-netframework-3-5-sp1-on-windows-server-2008-r2-environments.aspx b. The following prerequisite is missing. Please cancel this installation at the first opportunity and install it; Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 See: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=14422 5. Step through the install selecting Next/Accept 6. Note the Default Install Directory: C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64 7. Continue to step through the install until prompted to select components a. Note that Cognos Insight and Performance Modeler are not installed by default 8. We will proceed with a complete install. Select Cognos Insight and Performance Modeler from the available components list. Click next. 9. The installation process will take approximately 15 minutes to complete 10. Finish the install, without launching Cognos Configuration

Configuring TM1 10.1.0 64-bit, on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Steps to Configure/Start: 1. In the Windows Start Menu, under All Programs, find ‘IBM Cognos TM1 – 64’ 2. Right-click IBM Cognos Configuration, and select ‘Run as Administrator’ 3. When IBM Cognos Configuration has loaded, step through all configurable options to ensure that all localhost entries have been replace with a fully qualified domain name (ie: machine.company.com) 4. Everything else can remain default 5. Right-click ‘TM1 Application Server’, select ‘Start’ to start TM1 Contributor (now named TM1 Applications). Click ‘Close’ when complete. 6. Right-click ‘TM1 Excel Service’, select ‘Start’ to start the TM1 Excel Service 7. Right-click ‘TM1 Admin Server’, select ‘Start’ to start the TM1 Admin Server 8. Right-click ‘Planning Sample’, select ‘Start’ to start the Planning Sample TM1 Server 9. In Windows, open ‘Administrative Tools’ and select ‘Services’ 10. Look for installed IBM software, we should now see the following: a. IBM Cognos TM1 Admin Server x64 b. IBM Cognos TM1 Application Server c. IBM Cognos TM1 Excel Service d. IBM Cognos TM1 Server – Planning Sample 11. Under the ‘Log On As’ column, we should note that the services are configured to start as Local System by default. To prevent security issues down the road, define each of the 4 services above to start as a named Administrator account a. Right-click the desired service, select Properties b. Click the ‘Log On’ tab c. Select ‘This Account’ and provide the username and password of an Administrator user 12. The services will need to be recycled to allow this change to take place. Start and Stop the services in IBM Cognos Configuration following Steps 1-5 above.

Verify/Test Your Installed TM1 10.1.0 Components

Prerequisite: 1. This validation assumes TM1 10.1.0 has been installed/configured using the same steps within this document, and that all TM1 Services are currently running. TM1 Server: 1. In the Windows Start Menu, under All Programs, find ‘IBM Cognos TM1 – 64’ 2. Open ‘Architect’ 3. Click File, and then go to Options 4. Populate the ‘Admin Host’ field, with the fully qualified name of the server which the TM1 Admin Server had been installed. Click OK. 5. The ‘Planning Sample’ server should be available in the list. Double-click it. 6. When prompted to log in, admin/apple can be used as the username/password 7. If logged in successfully, the TM1 Server objects will be displayed (ie: Application, Cubes, …) 8. We have now validated that the TM1 Admin Server and TM1 Server components have been installed and are functioning correctly 9. Close the Architect application TM1 Web: 1. Open ‘Internet Explorer’ from the server where TM1 had been installed 2. In the address bar, type http://server.machine.com/TM1Web/ (where server.machine.com is the fully qualified name of the server TM1Web had been installed on) 3. When prompted to log in, populate the ‘Admin Host’ field, with the fully qualified name of the server which the TM1 Admin Server had been installed. 4. Click the ‘Refresh’ button to update the TM1 Server list 5. Select ‘Planning Sample’ from the TM1 Server dropdown list 6. Provide admin/apple as the username/password and click Log In 7. If logged in successfully, the TM1 Server objects will be displayed (ie: Application, Views, …) 8. Expand Applications -> Bottom Up Input, and select the ‘Budget Input’ sheet

9. If the sheet loads successfully, we have validated that TM1Web and the TM1 Excel Service have been installed and are functioning correctly. 10. Close TM1Web (Internet Explorer) TM1 Perspectives: 1. In the Windows Start Menu, under All Programs, find ‘IBM Cognos TM1 – 64’ 2. Click ‘Perspectives’ to launch the application 3. If/when prompted to allow Macros, click ‘Enable’ 4. When Perspectives/Excel has launcher, click the ‘TM1’ tab within Excel 5. Click ‘Options’. Populate the ‘Admin Host’ field, with the fully qualified name of the server which the TM1 Admin Server had been installed. Click OK. 6. Click ‘Connect’. Select ‘Planning Sample’ as the Server ID, and log in using admin/apple for the ClientID/Password. Click OK. 7. When connected, click ‘Explorer’ to launch Server Explorer. 8. Navigate to an application. Expand ‘Planning Sample’, ‘Applications’ and ‘Management Reporting’. Double-click the ‘Income Statement by Business Unit’ sheet 9. When the sheet has loaded, click ‘Recalculate’ 10. If the data in the sheet is returned, Perspectives has been confirmed installed and functioning correctly. TM1 Applications: 1. Open ‘Internet Explorer’ from the server where TM1 had been installed 2. In the address bar, type http://server.machine.com:9510/pmpsvc/ (where server.machine.com is the fully qualified name of the server TM1 Applications had been installed on) 3. You will now be prompted with the TM1 Application Configuration 4. Populate the ‘Admin Host’ field, with the fully qualified name of the server which the TM1 Admin Server had been installed 5. Select ‘Planning Sample’ from the Server Name drop down list 6. Ensure the ‘TM1 Application Web URL’ contains the fully qualified name of the server where TM1Web had been installed. Click OK. 7. When prompted to log in, enter admin/apple in the Username/Password fields

8. If using the default Planning Sample TM1Server, you will be warned that the TM1 Performance Modeler will not support your TM1 Server unless you modify your tm1s.cfg configuration file. a. In the Windows Start Menu, under All Programs, find ‘IBM Cognos TM1 – 64’ b. Right-click IBM Cognos Configuration, and select ‘Run as Administrator’ c. When Cognos Configuration has loaded, right-click ‘Planning Sample’, select Stop d. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to ‘C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\samples\tm1\PlanSamp\’ e. Find the tm1s.cfg file, edit the file using notepad f.

Per the warnings when logging into TM1 Applications, uncomment the following in the tm1s.cfg file: i. AllowSeperateNAndCRules=T ii. DistributedPlanningOutputDir=tunit

g. Save the edited tm1s.cfg file h. Go back to Cognos Configuration, right-click ‘Planning Sample’, select Start i.

Close IBM Cognos Configuration

9. Close and reopen your Internet Explorer browser. Navigate back to http://server.machine.com:9510/pmpsvc/ (where server.machine.com is the fully qualified name of the server TM1 Applications had been installed on) 10. When prompted to log on, use admin/apple for the username/password 11. When the application has loaded, you should no longer be presented with warnings 12. Click the IBM Performance Modeler icon 13. When the IBM Performance Modeler has launched, select ‘Application Design’ from the left hand pane 14. In the Design pane (upper left pane) right-click ‘Applications’ select ‘New’-‘Application’ 15. Enter the name ‘Planning Sample – Approval’, ensure the Application Type is set to ‘Approval’ and press OK 16. In the Design pane, expand ‘Planning Sample – Approval’ 17. In the TM1 Objects pane (bottom left pane), expand the Planning Sample TM1 Server

18. Expand ‘Dimensions’, ‘plan_department’, and right-click ‘Default’. Select ‘Add to application’ and click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’. Collapse the ‘Dimensions’ tree. 19. Expand ‘Cubes’,’plan_BudgetPlan’, and right-click ‘Budget Line Input’. Select ‘Add to application’ and click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’. Collapse the ‘plan_BudgetPlan’ cube. 20. Expand the ‘plan_BudgetPlanLineItem’ cube and right-click ‘Detail Budget Line Entry’. Select ‘Add to application’ and click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’. 21. Right-click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’ in the Design pane. Select ‘Validate Application’. 22. Right-click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’. Select ‘Save Application’ 23. Right-click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’. Select ‘Deploy Application’ 24. After the application has been deployed successfully, close the TM1 Performance Modeler 25. After closing the Performance Modeler, you should be brought back to the ‘My Applications’ page of TM1 Applications. If not, navigate back to http://server.machine.com:9510/pmpsvc/ (where server.machine.com is the fully qualified name of the server TM1 Applications had been installed on) 26. Click the ‘Refresh’ icon in the menu bar of TM1 Applications (not your browser) 27. ‘Planning Sample – Approval’ should now appear in your ‘My Applications’ list 28. Click the ‘Activate IBM Cognos TM1 Application’ button, under ‘Actions’ for the application 29. Now that the application has been activated, we will now open and test our new application 30. Left-click ‘Planning Sample – Approval’ from the ‘My Applications’ list to open the application 31. Click the ‘Total Organization’ node in the right hand pane 32. Cognos TM1 Application Web will now load 33. TM1 Performance Modeler and TM1 Applications have now been confirmed installed and functioning correctly.
