Requirement During cutover time we normally maintain all master data for Material Group 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 fields in Sales: Sales Org 2 tab in the material master.
After sometime, let’s say, business wants to add new material groups for these fields. In that case they always have to ask support team to create those new groups in development client and then transport it to quality and production client. To avoid this; you have an option of allowing user to maintain those data directly in the production client. Note: IMPORTANT You have to be very careful about the nodes that you’re going to open in production for users as this will create miss match between the production client and development / quality clients. If the new data to be tested thoroughly (Let’s say a new material type, etc), then you cannot use this as a option as you have to test it tin Dev/quality before transporting to production. You have to set this in the development client and then transport it to production client. You need to ask Basis team to give access to the relevant configuration node transaction in the production client as well.
Configuration steps First you need to go to the relevant configuration node. For my example it is;
Go to the node and select it Go to menu option
Go to
tab
Double click on the relevant Customizing object
Click on button You have to get a access key form the basis to do the change. Forward below details to basis and get the access key.
Once you got the access key, enter that under
and
press
Mark tick in the
Save Transport the TR number to production and ask basis to assign this transaction to relevant user ID
box
So for my example I have to ask basis to assign below transactions to the relevant user.
Note: There are some FI configuration nodes, which have this as the default setting by SAP.
Eg: To maintain Exchange rate for currencies; users has to go to transaction OB08. This is node is maintained under tx: SPRO. This has to be maintained by daily or monthly depend on the business scenario.
SAP has set that flag as default setting for this node,
In that case users can maintain it directly in the production client without transporting from development client.
