Introduction It’s often requested by business users to re-arrange columns in the sales order item overview tab to have most useable columns to the left side of the screen. This is to avoid scrolling through the item overview tab to view values in certain columns. As item overview has many columns and not every business is using all columns, SAP has given a functionality to re-arrange these columns in any order. Steps of re-arranging columns in the item overview tab is different from adjusting columns in the ALV report output screen. Today let’s see how you can re-arrange columns in the sales order item overview tab.

Steps to adjust the columns in the sales order item overview tab  

Go to any sales order in the change mode (Transaction: VA02) Re-arrange columns in the way business wants them to see in the item overview tab. This can be done by drag and drop option. I have arranged columns in below sequence.



After all columns are adjusted, click on the below highlighted option



When you click on that, you will get a new popup window as follows

Enter a name for the new variant (For the re-arranged item overview tab) and press the button



Now you will see below message and the “Current Setting” and “Standard Setting” fields get changed to your newly created variant

If you want this variant to be applicable for your user ID, then select

button.

If you want this variant to be applicable for all users across this SAP system, then do below steps as well. 

Now click on the button

from the new popup to activate new variant

When you click on that button, you will see the below highlighted message

This means, new variant will be applied to every user and therefore all users who will access sales order item overview tab will now see the new set of columns. 

Click on

button in the previous popup window.

Now when you or any other user access sales order item overview tab, new columns will be displayed
