How to align Dual Polarization antennas with XPIC and SD configuration
Picture-1 Dual Polarization antenna with XPIC and SD Configuration
Step-1, Align the Local site main antenna towards remote site main antenna 1.1 Fix the feeder boom of the antenna horizontally and strictly. 1.2 Connect the 5th and 6th IFX cable from “in” to “out” on the same IFX card. 1.3 V polarization alignment: turn on the 5th slot IFX (Main, V), turn off the 6th, 7th and 8th slot IFX, this setting should apply on local site and the remote site; and then align the antenna and get the required RSL of “V” polarization as per design. 1.4 H polarization alignment: turn on the 6th slot IFX(V), turn off the 5th , 7th and 8th slot IFX, this setting should apply on local site and the remote site; the RSL of the “H” polarization should be automatically ok, and max possible it should be ±3dbm difference to the “V” polarization as per experience. 1.5 H+V polarization Combination: connect the IFX cable from “in” to “out” between 5th and 6th Slot IFX, and turn on the both 5th and 6th IFX, in this way Main to Main alignment will be completed.
Step-2, Align the Local site main antenna towards remote site diversity antenna 2.1 Connect the 5th and 6th IFX cable from “in” to “out” on the same IFX card at local site, and connect the 7th and 8th IFX cable from “in” to “out” on the same IFX card at the remote site. 2.2 V polarization alignment Local site: turn on the 5th slot IFX (Main, V), turn off the 6th, 7th and 8th slot IFX,
Remote site: turn on the 7th slot IFX (Standby, V), turn off the 5th, 6th and 8th slot IFX. Then align the antenna and get the required RSL of “V” polarization as per design. 2.3 H polarization alignment: Local site: turn on the 6th slot IFX (Main, H), turn off the 5th, 7th and 8th slot IFX, Remote site: turn on the 8th slot IFX (Standby, H), turn off the 5th, 6th and 7th slot IFX. The RSL of the “H” polarization should be automatically ok, and max possible it should be±3dbm difference to the “V” polarization as per experience. 2.4 H+V polarization Combination: Local site: connect the IFX cable from “in” to “out” between 5th and 6th Slot IFX, power on. Remote site: connect the IFX cable from “in” to “out” between 7th and 8th Slot IFX, power on. In this way Main to Standby alignment will be completed. Step-3, Align the Local site diversity antenna towards remote site main antenna 3.1 Connect the 7th and 8th IFX cable from “in” to “out” on the same IFX card at local site, and connect the 5th and 6th IFX cable from “in” to “out” on the same IFX card at the remote site. 3.2 V polarization alignment Local site: turn on the 7th slot IFX (Standby, V), turn off the 5th, 6th and 8th slot IFX, Remote site: turn on the 5th slot IFX (Main, V), turn off the 6th, 7th and 8th slot IFX. Then align the antenna and get the required RSL of “V” polarization as per design. 3.3 H polarization alignment: Local site: turn on the 8th slot IFX (Standby, H), turn off the 5th, 6th and 7th slot IFX, Remote site: turn on the 6th slot IFX (Main, H), turn off the 5th, 7th and 8th slot IFX. The RSL of the “H” polarization should be automatically ok, and max possible it should be ±3dbm difference to the “V” polarization as per experience. 2.4 H+V polarization Combination: Local site: connect the IFX cable from “in” to “out” between 7th and 8th Slot IFX, power on. Remote site: connect the IFX cable from “in” to “out” between 5th and 6th Slot IFX, power on. In this way Standby to Main alignment will be completed.
