The Hilti HIT System

4.2.2 Adhesive Anchoring Systems

Versatile, Easy-To-Use, Offers Faster Cure Times and Extended Temperature Ranges

Hilti System Advantages

HIT-TZ Advantages

Versatile For fastening a variety of fasteners into many different base materials within a wide range of temperatures.

Reliable Holes may be uncleaned, waterfilled or both and the high performance remains the same as cleaned dry holes with Hilti HAS-E threaded rods at 20% deeper embedment. Even in diamond cored holes made with the Hilti EC-1, the HIT-TZ is fast and reliable.

Easy To Use Easy dispensing adhesive even in cold temperatures. Application-matched, compact system; simply drill and clean the hole, dispense the adhesive and insert the fastener or rebar. Uniform Quality Mixing errors eliminated; two components of the adhesive are in separate containers and are proportional and mixed as they are dispensed.

Reliable Consistent fastenings; no expansion forces exerted on base material. Clean No direct contact with the adhesive, since there is no manual mixing; no setting tools required.

Economical Waste is minimal since only the

E

Fast No cleaning, less drilling and fast curing HIT HY 150/HIT-ICE . Economical 20% less embedment than standard embeded threaded rods uses less HIT HY 150/HIT-ICE and saves drilling, cleaning and inspection time. Drill bit life is also extended more than 20%.

amount required for the job is used. If adhesive is not completely dispensed during initial usage, cartridge may be reused; one cartridge may be sufficient for several fastenings. Cartridge waste volume for disposal is also minimal.

Listings/Approvals 4.2.4.1 Product Description Hilti HIT HY 150 is a hybrid adhesive consisting of a methacrylate resin, hardener, cement and water. It is formulated for fast curing and installation in a wide range of solid base material temperatures from 104°F (40°C) down to 23°F (–5°C). For colder environmental installations, HIT-ICE adhesive is a winter formulation of HIT HY 150 for base material temperatures down to –10°F (–23°C). HIT-ICE consists of a methacrylate resin and hardener. The systems consist of adhesive refill packs, a mixing nozzle, a HIT dispenser and either a threaded rod, rebar, HIS internally threaded insert or eyebolts. HY 150/HIT-ICE is specifically designed for fastening into solid base materials such as concrete, grout, stone or grout filled block. The Hilti HIT-TZ is an innovative threaded rod installed with HIT HY 150/HIT-ICE hybrid adhesive. Please refer to section 4.2.3 for details on HIT-TZ. With the combination of HIT HY 150/HIT-ICE and the innovative design of the HIT-TZ rod, anchoring into uncleaned holes, wet holes (including standing water) and/or Hilti matched tolerance diamond-cored holes does not adversely affect tensile capacity. Use HIT-ICE in base material temperatures ≤ 40° F (5° C). Product Features of HIT HY 150/HIT-ICE • Seismic qualified per ICC-ES AC58 • Small edge distance and anchor spacing allowance • Mixing tube provides proper mixing and accurate dispensing of mixed resin • Contains no styrene; virtually odorless • Cures quickly over a large range of base material temperatures • Excellent weathering resistance; high temperature resistance • High load capacities

Influence of Temperature on Bond Strength

Samples of the HY 150 resin were immersed in the various chemical compounds for up to one year. At the end of the test period, the samples were analyzed. Any samples showing no visible damage and having less than a 25% reduction in bending (flexural) strength were classified as “Resistant.” Samples that had slight damage, such as small cracks, chips, etc. or reduction in bending strength of 25% or more, were classified as “Partially Resistant.” Samples that were heavily damaged or destroyed were classified as “Not Resistant.”
