i v r In deze selectie "Highlight from Hook", zijn de muzikale hoogtepunten uit de film "Hook", van de regisseur Steven Spielberg verwerkt. De componist John Williams hoeft geen verdere introductie, en ook deze keer is hij er in geslaagd geweldige muziek onder de filmscenes te schrijven die ook zonder de filmbeelden overeind blijven. Zo opent de selectie met "Prologue", de beginmuziek van de film. Bij "D", "Presenting the Hook", wordt kapitein Haak voorgesteld. Grillig en onberekenbaar en op een gegeven moment over het dek stampend en schreeuwend. Het derde (rustige) deel is "When you're all alone", dat in de film gezongen wordt door de dochter van Peter Pan, wanneer zij ontvoerd is door kapitein Haak. De opbouw van dit deel vereist enige aandacht, omdat bij "H" in de uitdrukking "piu mosso" niet alles te vangen is dat bedoeld wordt. Vanaf "H" moet fluisterend worden begonnen en de spanning dient opgebouwd te worden door een lang uitgesmeerd crescendo/accelerando tot aan maat 208. Bij "1" (Grandioso), zijn de hoorns en trompetten (2,3) zeer belangrijk. Ook hier zijn tempo en tempoveranderingen afhankelijk van de muzikale inzichten van orkest en dirigent. Het vierde deel waarin het geheel uitmondt, is "The Feast". Een feestelijk einde van deze selectie waaraan muzikanten en publiek hopelijk veel plezier beleven.

In (Jieser Selektion "Highlights from Hook" sind die ^ musikalischen Höhepunkte des Soundtracks des Steven Spielbergj Filmes "Hook" verarbeitet worden. Der Komponist John Williams braucht überhaupt nicht mehr vorgestellt zu werden; auch nun ist es ihm wieder gut gelungen reizende Filmmusik zu schreil{)en die man auch ohne die Bilder genieBen kann. Die Selel^tion fangt mit "Prologue", der Anfangsmusik des Filmes, an. per folgende Teil "Presenting the Hook" (D) stellt der launenhafte und grillige "Kapitan Haken" vor, der trampelnd und schreiendjiiber dem Deck hin und her geht. Der dritte Teil "When you are alone" ist ein ruhiges Lied das im Film von der Tochter Peter Par^s gesungen wird, nachdem sie vom Kapitan Haken entführt vj/orden ist. Ab "H" soil man ganz leise anfangen und dann bautj man eine Spannung auf in crescendo/accelerando bis zum Taktj Nummer 208. In " I " (Grandioso) spielen die Homer und Tromjpeten (2,3) eine wichtige Rolle. Die Tempi und Tempowechsql werden vom Dirigenten gewahlt. Der viert^ Teil "The Feast" ist ein festlicher AbschluB für diese Selektion! an die hoffentliche viele Musiker und Zuhörer viel SpaB erleben werden. Hans van der Heide

ü In this selection "Highlights from Hook" you can hear the ^ very best musical moments from the soundtrack of the Steven Spielberg movie picture "Hook". The composer John Williams needs no introduction and, once more, he composed thrilling music to the film scenes, which remains as exciting without tl^e film pictures. The selection starts with "Prologue", the opening music of the movie. At "D", "Presenting Hook", Captain Hook is introduced as a whimsical and unpredictable character jwalking across the deck, shouting and stamping. The third fmore quiet) part is "When you are alone", sung by Peter Pan's dadghter in the film after she has been kidnapped by Captain Ijiook. Be careful when performing this part, as the expression "piu mosso" at "H" does not indicate precisely what the composer wants. Everybody should start at "H" in a whispering way and then continue in a widespread crescendo/accelerando up to measure 208. At " I ' (Grandioso) the horns and trumpets have an important role. The tempo and changes in tempi depend on the conductor's views. The fmal part four, "The Feast", brings the selection joyfully to and end. We hope both musicians and public will enjoy this selection.

Dans cette selection "Les Succès de Hook" les meiileurs moments musicaux du film "Hook" du régisseur Steven Spielberg ont été réunis. II est inutile de présenter le compositeur John Williams; une fois de plus il a réussi a souligner les scènes du film par une musique formidable qui, même sans les images, garde toute sa force expressive, La selection commence par le "Prologue" du debut du film. A la lettre "D" "Presenting the Hook", le Capitaine Crochet est présenté. C'est un personnage capricieux et imprévisible qui, a un certain moment, arpente le pontdu navire en jurant et trépignant, La troisième partie "When you are alone" (Lorsque vous êtes seuls) est plus calme. Cette chanson est chantée par la fiUe de Peter Pan lorsqu'elle est enlevée par le Capitaine Crochet. La construction de cette partie demande une certaine attention car a la lettre "H" 1'indication "piu mosso" ne couvre pas complètement les intentions de I'arrangeur. A la lettre "H" il faut commencer en chuchotant et il faut garder la tension croissante en un long crescendo/accelerando jusqu'a la mesure 208. A la lettre " I " (Grandioso) les cors et les 2$ et 3$ trompettes ont un role trés important. Les tempi et changements de tempi dépendent encore des intentions musicales du chef et de I'orchestre. La quatrième partie "The Fea^t" (La Fête) forme le fmal joyeux de cette sélection qui, nous 1' espérons, plaira tant aux musiciens qu'au grand public. Hans van der Heide
