Hello! My name is Febry Handiny. I’d like to tell you about my experience of having a dengue fever. It happened 2 years ago, when I was a new college student. The fever began 2 days before I had a flight to Jakarta. At the same time, there was a disease that spread widely in airport due to the foreigner who contaminated by H5N1 viruses called “swine flu”. The swine flu symptoms are totally the same with Dengue fever, so my mother told me to use a mask during the flight and in airport. After arrived in Soe-tta Airport, I already feel pain on my head, it felt throbbed and dizzy. I even couldn’t walk properly because of the painful. I continued the trip to Jatinangor to look for my dorm house. After that, I and my family decided to stay in a hotel for a few days. At the hotel, I thought that it was climax of the symptoms. I had high fever, my eyes became red and hot, a sore throat, nausea, and my joints ached. I said to my mother and father that I couldn’t bear it anymore, so next early morning they took me to AMC hospital to checked what exactly happened with me. In hospital, the doctor took out my blood sample to checked any viruses or bacteria in the blood. The result was that I probably having a dengue fever or swine flu. Then the doctor said I have hospitalized and he directly gave me an IV treatment to prevent lack of electrolyte. After more than 30 minutes in intensive care unit, the nurse took me to room with wheelchair since I couldn’t walk. Before the nurse gave me an intervention, my father told me to drink “kurma juice”. I didn’t know what’s the benefit of kurma, but daddy told me that it can normalize the platelets level in the blood. I drank the juice almost 1 liter. I felt nausea after drank the juice, but for the sake of fast recovery I was forced to swallow it. In hospital I just lied down on my bed, sometimes changed my sleeping position to avoiding rigidity. The nurse who took care of me regularly came to my room twice a day. He checked my blood pressure and change the Intra vena plabots if it was empty. The doctor came every morning and gave me some prescription and suggested to take a rest and not to thinking about my college orientation. The doctor finally allowed me to out of hospital after a week. But I still consumed some drugs until it run out. The next day I came to the AMC hospital to having a regular consulted with doctor and rechecked my platelets a. The result that I was fully health, the platelets blood became normal. Doctor also stated that I was fully recover from dengue fever
