INTRODUCTION LION'S WRATH: NORTHERN ARMY LIST
Due to delays in the planned Lion's Wrath: Northern Field Guide we have decided to release an abridged version entitled Lion's Wrath: Northern Army List. We realize that Northern players need an updated Army List and threat values now to play against armies from the NuCoal, Peace River and Southern Field Guides. The Northern Army List includes everything you need to make a Northern army, with new vehicles, datacards, updated combat groups and threat values. Choose one of the Confederated Northern City States five army options, from the Northern Guard, Northern Lights Confederacy Armed Forces, United Mercantile Federation Army, Western Frontier Protectorate Army or the Northern Territorial Reserves. Pick an army and get involved in the War for Terra Nova.
Mammoth Strider with new SMS feet
We'll have some new Northern miniature releases available soon. Including a new sculpts Northern Infantry Platoon Pack and Special Infantry Pack (shown below). An updated Mammoth Strider with the new feet that have a secondary tracked movement system. More weapons and variant parts for the Thunderhammer Strider, a new Verder variant of the Aller Tank, the Stinger version of the Camel Truck and the new Scimitar Gear Strider will be out this summer. Plus a new Northern Decal Pack is already available (shown below right), to add logos and numbering to your army.
HISTORY The CEF have returned and war once again rages across Terra Nova. The northern leadership knew this day would eventually come, the destruction of Peace River was just the wake up call they needed. Since that terrible day the north's military industrial complex has had carte blanche and all the resources needed to develop new equipment to win the coming war. The battle planing and contingencies have been ready for cycles. The bribes have been made and spies have been busy keeping tabs on the Earth war machine. Northco's top secret Scimitar Gear Strider has been deployed to the key Northern battlefields and has already proved very effective in close assault against CEF Hovertanks. Scimitar's have also been made available to strike and fire support squads and seasoned pilots are all vying for the opportunity to field one. The war has also seen the release of several only previously rumored of weapon systems, including the Lion, Leopard, Lynx, Metal Cat, and Snake Eater Klemm.

NORTHERN VEHICLES NORTHERN VEHICLES For most of Terra Nova’s post-Concordat history, the North has held a substantial edge in military technology. While the South has eroded this edge recently, the Northern Guard and the three League armies still pride themselves on their reliable and wellmaintained combat equipment. While some second-line forces, less-favored regiments, or especially stubborn units still use older vehicles, most regiments get modernized equipment promptly.
HUNTER - TROOPER GEAR
CHEETAH - RECON GEAR
After three hundred and fifty cycles of service, spare parts and standard modification kits are readily available. As the “father” of all modern Gear designs, spares for the Hunter can often be improvised from parts intended for other Gears. The default loadout makes the Hunter a very versatile fighting machine. It is particularly good at skirmishing, patrol, and light assault duties. The ease of altering its loadout has lead to a proliferation of alternate loadouts for specific missions or situations. Some of the named variants such as the Hunter Commando, Hunter XMG, and SD Hunter (Stripped Down Hunter) have customized chassis and armor.
GRIZZLY - FIRE SUPPORT GEAR
Despite being the first combat Gear, the Hunter is still the standard design used by all Northern armies. Simple, robust and reliable, the Hunter is a favorite of pilots and technicians alike. The design has been updated several times since it was first introduced, and now comes with a VR cockpit, desertproofing and excellent but compact sensor equipment. Like all Gears, its humanoid form and Optical Neural Net CPU make it exceptionally agile and flexible and allow it to augment its moderate armor by taking good advantage of its speed and any available cover. Its simple, rugged systems have given it a reputation for being able to take a beating and keep fighting.
JAGUAR - STRIKE GEAR
Developed in TN1900 by Northco as a replacement for the Hunter, the Jaguar is generally used as a commando, strike, or heavy general purpose Gear by the Northern forces.
3
The Jaguar’s armaments, controls, and capabilities are deliberately similar to the successful Hunter Gear. Unlike the Hunter’s slightly outdated but highly standardized parts, the Jaguar uses more modern systems. This makes it faster and more nimble than the Hunter despite carrying tougher armor and a heavier selection of weapons, but also makes it correspondingly difficult to service and modify. Airdrop capability is standard. Most Jaguar variants are designed to provide close support with heavy weapons, as they can typically survive the attention fire support units typically receive from the enemy. The Jaguar’s sophisticated communications system makes it a favorite of unit commanders.
Evan Anhorn (order #6665923)
A small and agile design, the Cheetah is the North’s primary scout Gear. It uses extremely specialized and high-performance systems to achieve its impressive speed and handling. Compact electronics allow it to reliably spot and designate enemy forces, relay this information to friendly forces, and jam enemy communication attempts. All this equipment makes the Cheetah’s pilot compartment very cramped even compared to other Gear designs, requiring pilots with small statures. Also, several named gears including the White Cat, Silver Cat and Metal Cat use the basic Cheetah chassis with different electronics added or removed.
The Grizzly has been the most common Northern fire-support Gear since the War of the Alliance. Although developed well before then, it did not displace its predecessor, the Bear, until after the CEF was pushed off Terra Nova. The heavy frame needed to support its powerful weapons makes it slow and clumsy, leaving it vulnerable to attack despite thick armor. Its firepower more than compensates for this, and the Grizzly is capable of both long-range fire support and heavy assault, and can be a devastating anti-Gear weapon if screened by lighter units.
KODIAK - HEAVY ASSAULT GEAR Based on the basic Grizzly chassis, the Kodiak was developed during the War of the Alliance to help Gear columns deal with light CEF hovertanks. With considerably stronger armor and heavier direct-fire weapons than a normal Grizzly, the Kodiak is an excellent assault machine. The high cost of constructing and maintaining them limits their deployment.
NORTHERN VEHICLES BRICKLAYER - ENGINEERING GEAR
The Bricklayer engineering gear is based of the popular Hunter chassis of the Hunter but has no canopy or head assembly, and a reduced sensor system. The pilot sits slightly higher than in the Hunter, and is protected only by a sturdy steel roll cage. It is mostly used in both civilian and military construction and labor needs. They are often used as light trooper Gears and in combat engineering groups.
BEAR - SUPPORT GEAR
The Bear was the North’s first true long-range fire support Gear. Previous fire-support models had been built around powerful shortrange weapons, intended for both fire support and anti-armor work. The Bear’s long-range guided mortar and twin rocket packs allowed it to be used in both fire support and assault roles and inspired the design of the Grizzly. It has mostly been replaced by the Grizzly in modern combat units, but still sees service in local militias and the WFPA.
BLACK CAT - STEALTH GEAR
The Black Cat is a variant of the Cheetah, but the differences are so pronounced that it is practically an entirely new design. The Black Cat is built from the ground up for stealth, and while it is too expensive and lightly-armed to be a primary combat unit, it is an excellent commando and covert operations machine.
BOBCAT - RECON GEAR
The first dedicated scout Gear was the Bobcat, which introduced the modern “humanoid head” design to the North. Its unique SMS design requires the Gear to kneel down to engage its wheels, but handles very well. Unfortunately, it also prevents the Bobcat’s legs from being armored properly, leaving them vulnerable to enemy fire. Outside of the WFP, the Bobcat was quickly phased out in favor of the cheaper Ferret and, later, the higherperformance Cheetah.
DEN MOTHER - COMMAND SUPPORT GEAR
One of the longest-lasting main artillery machines in the Northern Guard, the Den Mother is still one Gear which has stood the test of time. Despite its age, it can still keep up with younger combat vehicles, such as the Cheetah and the Jaguar, and can hold its own against tough opponents such as the Black Mamba and the dreaded Spitting Cobra During the early 19OOs, in order to give “Old Reliable” a better fighting chance, the Northern military has invested some resources in refitting the remaining Den Mothers with minor upgrade options.
ENGINEERING GRIZZLY - GEAR
The Engineering Grizzly is a field engineering vehicle based on the basic frame and chassis of Northco's and Shaian's popular Grizzy fire support vehicle Released in TN 1923, Northco wished to ensure that the two remained closely related and the Engineering Grizzly shares almost 80% of its components with the base model, allowing for easy repairs. It can also easily be armed for military operations, and an airdroppable variant is also available, but with its open cockpit design, only the bravest of pilots dare take those missions.
FERRET - RECON GEAR
This unique scout Gear design was widely used throughout the North prior to the introduction of the Cheetah, and is still found in spotter and recon roles in many regiments. Its design features short, stubby legs and a prominent “buttwheel”. When switching to its Secondary Movement System (SMS), the Ferret’s legs lock together and it settles back on the buttwheel, converting it into a low-signature oversized motorcycle. Even though it is largely obsolete as a combat Gear, it has been immortalized in Northern pop culture, and civilian models continue to be absurdly popular.

NORTHERN VEHICLES LEOPARD - GEAR
LYNX - LIGHT RECON GEAR BIKE
LION - HEAVY STRIKE GEAR
Should the need arise the Lynx transforms into a Gear, with the pilot controlling the machine through a pulpit nestled between the shoulders. As the Gear was initially developed with civil duties in mind the pilot would be left exposed, however Western Armories later released an armored cab that enclosed the pilot providing him with added protection on the battle field.
Originally conceived as a rally/arena gear, the Leopard has found it's home within the ranks of gear regiments due to the flexibility of its design. The Leopard is able to traverse any terrain with ease and its light weight airdropable design along with the later addition of climbing equipment has made for a great mountaineering gear. From the mountain ranges of the Northern hemisphere to the Badlands in the south, Leopards can be easily deployed by land or air to rapidly deal with any threats to the North, be it rover bandits or worse.
If the first CEF invasion taught the armies of Terra Nova anything, it was that sometimes bigger was better. Throughout the first invasion, gear companies saw IED sSIF CL A tremendous casualties as they were cut down by the armored might of CEF hovertanks. It was for that reason that the North commissioned the Kodiak and the South the King Cobra. Those designs although effective were meant to be stopgaps as the designers of the era did not have the luxury of of time to work through the finer details of the platform. As word began to filter back through the Westphalia Cabinet that the NEC was intending to mount another invasion, Northco put into motion a design philosophy to help counter the traditional advantage hovertanks had over gears. Intelligence reports had indicated that while particle accelerator technology had grown more reliable and easier to service since the last invasion its destructive potential had not changed much. The Lion utilizes a series overlapping plates on the front which are easily serviceable or if need be replaceable. This when combined with the gears already impressive armor would help to increase the survival rate of gear jocks. To counter the speed advantage of hovertanks, the Assault Lion variant is outfitted with Snub Cannon and dual DiMaean Saber Very Light Rocket Pods to provide effective wide area saturation attacks. They would also come in handy when trying to dislodge entrenched Grel’s . Just like most gears in the Northern arsenal, the Lion comes in a variety of loadouts that range from the mundane to the exotic.
5 Evan Anhorn (order #6665923)
Though officially designated as a gear, many would consider the Lynx to be more akin to a transformable power armor system. Originally designed for urban patrol duties, the Lynx began to see increased use by the Northern Guard acting in the role of an infantry support gear similar to the Asp found in the armies of the AST. The motorcycle-esque configuration in vehicle mode allows it to quickly zip ahead of infantry formations and the reduced silhouette makes it a hard target to hit.

METAL CAT - LIGHT TROOPER GEAR
Shaian’s main claim to fame is the Cheetah, an insanely nimble but incredibly expensive recon gear that is so capable that it outshines every opponent in its class. This however led to a problem, a gear that is expensive to make and maintain and serves mainly as a dedicated EW platform is not always in high demand. Simple economics dictated that in order to survive Shaian would need something closer to the baseline. Introducing the Metal Cat – which is essentially a Cheetah without the high end actuators has stripped down electronics and is up armored. While technically a variant, the Metal Cats have seen wide deployment within the armies of the NLC who seek to reduce their reliance on Northco. With the Electronics stripped out, the Metal Cat solves the problem of Cheetah jocks requiring a small build to effectively operate. Some gear jocks have began to favor the Metal Cat over the Hunter due to its small size and increased speed translating into a harder target for enemies. As the Metal Cats sensor suite has not changed it is more likely to detect incoming targets earlier allowing them to strike from relative safety without fear of reprisals.
NORTHERN VEHICLES MAD DOG R - GEAR
Before trade agreements with the UMF gave them access to the Hunter, the WFP attempted to develop their own trooper Gear. Despite carrying heavier weapons and armor than the Hunter, the Mad Dog was a failure. The cockpit was cramped, the sensors were unreliable, and its lack of speed left it vulnerable to enemy armor and infantry. When the CEF invaded Terra Nova, the remaining Mad Dogs were dragged from scrap-yards and museums, overhauled by Western Armories (mostly with parts salvaged from battle-damaged Bears) and pressed into service again as the Mad Dog R. Unlike its fore-bearer, the Mad Dog R was a reasonably effective and cheap fire-support Gear, and still serves the cash-strapped WFP well. An airdropable upgrade was developed for the Western Frontier, which became know as the Dingo, but it has seen very limited use outside WFP forces after the development of the Koala.
PANTHER - STEALTH GEAR
The Panther stealth variant of the Northco Jaguar is only deployed in very small numbers, sported a similar stealth coating to that of the Black Cat, using the same Racetech rubberized absorbent coating. The standard JaguarV-engine was replaced by an electric battery/ turbine silent-running powerplant. The standard sensor array was replaced by an advanced model developed by Hyperion Werks. The RPS-107 Stealthbox rocket pod from the Black Cat was also installed to give short-range punch to the Gear. The most innovative system, however, was the Northco Weapons S-992 sniper rifle. Featuring a silenced and stealth-coated 40 mm rifle, the S-992 features an integrated sniper sight and a side-mounted Sergon laser target designator.
RAZORBACK - GEAR
One of the first completely original Gear designs developed after the Hunter, the Razorback was built for short-range anti-armor work. Its heavy armor is still unmatched by anything smaller than a Kodiak, and the massive firepower of its Snub Cannon can make short work of any tank that ventures into range. Made largely obsolete by the Kodiak and variants of the Grizzly and Jaguar, the Razorback is used primarily in secondline UMF and WFP regiments that have not yet been assigned more advanced machines. Some more prestigious regiments, especially in the UMF, still employ Razorbacks to add some punch to their anti-armor squadrons.
Evan Anhorn (order #6665923)
TIGER - HEAVY TROOPER GEAR
In its day, the Tiger was a heavy trooper Gear. It served as the North’s heavy general purpose and elite commando Gear for almost 60 cycles, until it was made largely obsolete by the more advanced Jaguar. The UMFA still fields it as a heavy trooper Gear, and many Tigers still remain in service with regiments that have not yet been able to or are unwilling to upgrade to the Jaguar.
WEASEL - EW GEAR
The newest Northern EW specialist Gear is an upgrade of the venerable Ferret design. It retains the basic torso design of the Ferret, but employs a more standard leg and drive assembly and eliminates the Ferret’s signature buttwheel. The Weasel’s electronic warfare systems are the most powerful of any Northern Gear design. As it is not intended to see combat, the Weasel’s weapons load is extraordinarily weak and its targeting computer substandard. An alternate named version called the Tattletale was also produced, which only included the ECCM package.
WILDCAT - GEAR
The Wild Cat was an early Keimuri joint design with Northco. The Bobcat proved to be an effective scout for its time and had many design features that made it lucrative for other battlefield roles. Keimuri designed the Wildcat to function as an intermediary trooper unit to the Hunter, but the design was largely considered a failure by Northco. Interest in the unit was only found in the WFPA and Badland’s communities that needed the rugged suspension system.
KOALA - AIRDROPABLE SUPPORT GEAR The Koala started as a design to upgrade the aging Bear support gear and it's Den Mother command variant. Initially developed by the Western Frontier for it's airborne forces, the CNCS has now adopted it as the core of their new Airborne Dragoon squads. Once all the delicate electronics and communications systems had been reinforced to survive the airdrop landings, the Command Koala was born.
6
NORTHERN VEHICLES THUNDERHAMMER – STRIDER
SCIMITAR - GEAR STRIDER
When Peace River first unveiled the Cataphract, the CNCS reacted with much scorn and mockery. What was the point when smaller, lighter gears could do the same job just as well? Then came NuCoal’s Hussar and after that the Southern Drake. And so, just like that the CNCS went from leading the pack to trailing behind in Terra Nova’s perpetual arms race.
CL A
sSIF
IED
The Revisionist Church based in the NLC bayed for a Gear Strider of their own, but without the background and familiarity of the concept they were stymied. The destruction of Peace River in 1939 offered an opportunity that could not be ignored. Under the guise of humanitarian efforts Northern Agents scraped together an almost complete Cataphract which would serve as the basis for their own Gear Strider dubbed the Scimitar. Northco was tasked to make a design to tackle the mountainous terrain found throughout the CNCS, the Scimitar eschews heavy, high powered weapon systems for increased mobility. An interesting trade off as this has the unintentional effect of enhancing its close quarters potential. The oversized climbing equipment mounted on the Gear Striders forearms are powerful enough to shatter armor of even the toughest foe. The Gear Striders main weapon however, is an over sized staff weapon reminiscent of those used by the Battle Chaplains of the NLC, fitting since it was the Revisionist Church itself that sponsored much of the development costs. While many in the CNCS may still dispute the necessity of such a design, it cannot be denied that if for nothing else it acts as a symbol of power, projecting the righteous might of the North and by extension Revisionism itself.
MAMMOTH - STRIDER
7
The basic Strider design used by the Northern forces, the Mammoth has been in service for almost 100 cycles. The Mammoth is operated by a two-man crew seated in tandem inside the sealed crew cabin. While this does improve the unit’s survivability, it also makes the crew very reliant on the Mammoth’s sensors. It usually provides anti-armor support for Gears with a battery of anti-tank missiles, though assault variants with heavy short-range weapons do exist. The old Mammoth’s slow movement has been addressed and Northern engineers, have designed a new foot assembly with second tracked movement system for greater speed. Upgrading the North's fleet of Mammoths is already well under way and expected to be completed in the next 2 cycles.
Evan Anhorn (order #6665923)
The Thunderhammer is a four-legged field artillery strider used by Northern forces for close support. Its four long legs and large feet allow it to traverse practically any terrain, and it is often deployed in mountainous regions that are totally impassable by conventional vehicles. Thunderhammers often travel behind other Northern forces, providing them with precision fire support. Engineers have added new weapon loadouts to increase the units battlefield versatility and the Northern Guard have recently been testing out a limited number of troop transport Thunderhammer Bastion variants.
ALLER - MAIN BATTLE TANK
A modern heavy tank design, the Aller was developed just prior to the Judas Syndrome. It is a typical main battle tank design, intended to excel at combat with other armored units. Its main weapon is a heavy railgun, which is powerful but incapable of indirect fire. The Naval Support Aller variant is a monster the addition of Heavy Anti-Tank missiles and the Hardy Aller with it Very Heavy Field Gun is more than a match for the South's Visigoth main battle tank. The Verder mobile artillery tank was also developed off the basic Aller chassis.
KLEMM - LIGHT TANK
Predating the Hunter by almost twenty cycles, the Klemm is one of the oldest designs still in use in the Northern military. It was developed by the NLC at the height of the wars between the Northern leagues. A light, fast tank, the Klemm’s primary weapon is a bank of six anti-tank missiles, which allow it to directly engage heavier enemy armor or provide fire-support for spotter units equipped with laser designators. The chassis is very modular for a tank, and has been used as a basis for many variants.

NORTHERN VEHICLES SNAKE EATER KLEMM - LIGHT TANK
The Interpolar War saw pitched battles between the armies of the CNCS and the AST. Often most of these battles ranged within the unclaimed territories IED sSIF CL A of the Badlands. While both forces were for evenly matched, the North was however at a disadvantage when it came to the deployment of armor. There is no doubt that the Southern Hun outclassed and outgunned the Northern Klemm in almost every regard. Prior to the destruction of Peace River, hostilities between both the North and the South were flaring once again. Anticipating another Polar War, Northern strategists postulated that any assault against core AST territories would require their armies to traverse wetlands and other water hazards. Forces would also be far deep within enemy territory making the supply of guided munitions difficult. The solution was the Snake Eater, by replacing the Light Autocannon which was its main gun with a Light Railgun and the anti tank missiles with anti gear missiles they would be able to carry more of the smaller supplies as they pushed deeper into enemy territory. To round it off the Snake Eater would be outfitted with a rechargeable Gatling Laser Cannon to reduce its reliance on ammunition. The Snake Eater was manufactured in limited numbers before the hostilities came to an abrupt end. Seeing that the South were now considered allies any assault against them would only put the whole of Terra Nova at risk. Instead the Snake Eaters were placed in veteran regiments in preparation for the CEF invasion.
BADGER - APC
A sturdy, reliable APC, the Badger is one of many similar designs used by the North. It is particularly favored by both infantrymen and drivers, as its designers incorporated extra protection into the passenger compartment to ensure the safety of the crew and passengers. A sturdy eight-wheel suspension allows it to cross rough terrain, and a pair of autocannons in a turret provide some protection against light armor. It can carry two squads of infantry, with all their weaponry and equipment. A variety of weapon loadouts are also available when assigned to armored cavalry groups.
INFANTRY - PLATOONS, TEAMS, & OPTIONS
Infantry are a vital but unexciting part of any force. Slow and poorly-armored compared to vehicles, they are very vulnerable and seemingly useless in the face of Gears and Tanks. That said, infantry sections have access to a wide variety of specialized equipment, can hold ground better than any other unit and are a nightmare to deal with in built up areas like urban centers. This makes them practically a necessity to deal with other infantry or to hold ground once you’ve taken it. An Infantry Platoon is composed of 2 sections of Infantry and each section includes 2 squad of 10 men each. A variety of equipment options are available to a section to complete its assigned mission along with team options. To move infantry around faster options for Armored Infantry mounted in Badger APCs or Motorized Infantry mounted in Antrlope ORVs or Wallaby ATVs are available.
CAMEL - TRANSPORT TRUCK
The Camel is a large and sturdy transport truck frequently used by military and paramilitary groups. Large numbers have been sold all over the planet. The Camel's frame ha six large wheels attached to a heavy-duty suspension. The engine is a diesel-type powerplant linked to a high efficiency computercontroller transmission. Most trucks come with a simple radio system. Military trucks are sometimes equipped with a pintel-mounted machinegun mounted on top of the driver's cab, just beside the searchlight. Most Camels are used to transport supplies or to carry off damaged gears from the battlefield. A few have been equipped as weapon carriers and ammo loaders. A Stinger military version was also produced with a large air burst missile pod mounted on the back.

BUILDING YOUR NORTHERN ARMY INTRODUCTION Building a Northern Army requires the steps below, though not necessarily in the order listed. By following these steps players can create armies that match their vision and playing style. Special rules or benefits allowed by Regiment Type or League can stack with existing rules and Combat Group options unless otherwise noted.
ARMY CONSTRUCTION FLOWCHART
1 DETERMINE THE SIZE OF YOUR ARMY:
Army size is referred to as Maximum Threat Value (TV). It is chosen prior to a game by either the players or by the tournament organizer. Size is the maximum allowed TV cost for all Combat Groups (CG) plus any swaps, loadout changes, skill upgrades, leadership choices, or models added to a force.
2 CHOOSE A PRIORITY LEVEL:
As listed in the core rules, Priority Levels (PL) determine the number of Veteran Combat Groups, with their veteran options, available to your army, as well as the Combat Groups availability in any chosen Regiment type.
3 CHOOSE YOUR REGIMENT TYPE:
In combination with the chosen Priority Level, Regimental type determines the allowed mix of Organizational Slots available to the Combat Groups chosen for a force. These availabilities are listed in the side margins of the individual Combat Group pages. Regiments have different mandatory requirements but also provide benefits appropriate to their usage.
4 CHOOSE YOUR LEAGUE:
The North is made up of several leagues (factions) that each have their own particular fighting style and favored models. Players may choose a league or field a generic army, leagues may add unique options to an army, but players are not required to use any faction specific rules, model swaps, or exclusive Combat Groups in a force unless noted as mandatory. However, select types of CGs may have limitations if not replaced by a chosen League's equivalent counterpart(s). Generic armies do not benefit from any faction special rules or swaps and must be built entirely out of generic combat groups.
5 PICK YOUR COMBAT GROUPS:
Using the Priority Level and Regiment Type already chosen as a guide, pick Combat Groups, called Squadrons (Squads) for the North, and write the army list. Certain types of Squads may have a requirement to include a minimum number of models before another CG of that same type may be added to a force, or else a maximum number of allowed models. Any requirements of this nature are listed on the individual Combat Group pages.
9 Evan Anhorn (order #6665923)
BUILDING YOUR NORTHERN ARMY REGIMENT TYPES: INFANTRY REGIMENT:
An infantry force cannot be built at Priority Level 4 and must include at least 2 whole platoons of any type. Faction exclusive Combat Groups with Infantry attachments, or option lines used to add a section, may not be used to meet this requirement.
BENEFITS:
With larger pools of experienced soldiers, up to 4 Sections of any type, including any attached teams or vehicle models, may benefit from a single Veteran slot expenditure. These Sections do not have to be part of the same combat group but the Veteran expenditure must be applied to whole platoons first wherever possible. However, any teams or vehicles must still purchase their own allowed upgrades. Any Infantry Combat Group in the force may add up to 2 Lynx models for +25 TV each, with a maximum of two Gears allowed per whole platoon. Veteran Combat Groups may swap up to 2 Lynx for a Rabid loadout Ferret Mk 1 for +10 TV each..
GEAR REGIMENT:
Must purchase at least 1 of the following squadrons; Dragoon, Fire Support, General Purpose, Recon, Strike, or any Heavy Gearbased exclusive Northern Guard, NorLight, United Mercantile, or Western Frontier combat group.
AIRMOBILE REGIMENT:
These regiments need to be ready to drop anywhere at a moments notice. At least half (round up) of the force's Combat Groups must be comprised entirely of models with the Airdroppable trait, and at least 1 Combat Group must always be held in reserve. Factions may not swap models that do not have the Airdroppable trait into any Airborne or Airborne Dragoon combat group type.
BENEFITS:
As a General option any Standard or Command Badger, Field Gun, or Engineering Gear model may add an Airborne Loadout for +5 TV each. Any infantry Section, including any ORV or ATV transports, plus any attached teams, may add the Airborne Loadout for +10 TV. Any Lynx support Gears may be swapped for a Rabid loadout Ferret Paratrooper for +5 TV each. In addition, each Support Point expenditure used on Reserves allows 2 Combat Groups to be held off-table. Four (4) Infantry Sections and any attached teams count as a single CG for the purpose of purchasing reserves. Additionally, any Combat Group already held in reserve may spend an additional SP to designate that CG as a Guaranteed Reserve.
BENEFITS:
SPECIAL FORCES REGIMENT:
For each Priority Level of a force, any Veteran CGL may swap it's Headhunter for a Jaguar SECCOM for +20 TV or a Thunder Grizzly if in a FS combat group for +40 TV, a Jaguar for a Jaguar SECCOM for +5 TV, or a Rabid Grizzly for a Rabid Thunder Grizzly for +15 TV.
BENEFITS:
Squadron leaders train intensively to compensate for heavy Electronic Warfare environments. Any CGL model from the listed mandatory squadrons may increase it's EW skill by 1 level for +5 TV per model per action as a General option.
Or instead, or in combination, for each Priority Level of a force, any Veteran SECCOM model in a Ranger, Recon, or Strike squad may be upgraded with a Thunder loadout for +10 TV each. Any of the above benefits may be given to equivalent faction exclusive combat groups.
TANK & STRIDER ARMOR REGIMENT:
Must purchase at least 1 of the following squadrons; Light Tank, Heavy Tank, any Strider, or any Mechanized-based exclusive Guard or Royalist combat group.
A Special Operations force cannot be built at Priority Level 1 or 2, and must include at least 1 Ranger squadron of any sub-type, or any exclusive Northern Guard, NorLight, United Mercantile, or Western Frontier Ranger equivalent combat group. These regiments work from the shadows to make up for lack of numbers. Any Combat Group may purchase the Night Upgrade, adding a [Stealth:2] and Exposed AUX trait for +5 TV per model as a General option, but may not stack this upgrade with any prior [Stealth] trait nor the same upgrade from any Combat Group's own option lists. For each Priority Level of a force, any Veteran CGL's SECCOM model may be upgraded with a Thunder loadout for +10 TV each. Any of the above benefits may be given to equivalent faction exclusive combat groups.
BENEFITS:
Tankers are known for their excellent marksmanship. Up to half the models (round down) from a listed non-Veteran mandatory CG, including Gears, may each increase the ATK & DEF skills by 1 level as a General option rather than a Veteran option.

Many General and Veteran Option lines on the Combat Group pages state any “allowed Model” or “allowed Standard (Stock) Model” may take a specific Loadout change. Any Model in the Combat Group is considered “allowed” to swap equipment as specified by the Option condition(s) if they have that Loadout on their datacard. However, no Model or Variant may have more than one Loadout at a time. Identically named Loadouts may contain different weapons or perks on different Models. Unless specified by the Option, Models or Variants that have purchased a Loadout cannot be swapped for another Model.

LEAGUE SPECIFIC RULES LEAGUE SPECIFIC RULES FACTION ALLOWED MODEL SWAPS:
The models listed below any faction's special rules entry may be changed accordingly in any combat group type by paying the appropriate cost. Restrictions may apply to either number, model, variant, or squadron status. Some swaps may be mandatory for a faction. A changed model may take any allowed CG option line upgrades or swaps, but cannot itself be further swapped for another faction allowed model or variant. Nor may additional swaps from mandatory option lists be taken once the ruled or listed minimum has been met.
GEAR CARRIERS:
Behemoths are a common sight across the Northern Hemisphere and beyond, transporting squads to combat zones from Landships or Maglev railheads. Sometimes they end up in a battle. Any Gear combat group containing only Size 7 or smaller models may add a Behemoth for +45TV. The Gears of that squadron may start a game already embarked on the Behemoth.
FACTION EXCLUSIVE COMBAT GROUPS:
Any League force may opt to replace a combat group type with their equivalent counterparts. Generic squads of those types may still be taken in a League force, but they must always be made [Veteran] if the exclusive version is not present. If an exclusive version is present along with a generic version, the standard combat group may be purchased without the need to be Veteran. This rule does not apply to generic Northern armies not affiliated with any League.
DEDICATED TANK HUNTER INITIATIVE - SNUB CANNON UPGRADE:
In TN 1940, technicians began the field refit of Snub Cannons with enhanced targeting systems to improve accuracy. The resulting improvement in firepower is dramatic. Implementation however has been uneven throughout the North as not all member Leagues of the CNCS have the means or the inclination to adopt it. As a General Option, any model with an older -1 Acc SC can be upgraded to a new DTHI SC with 0 Acc for +5TV each. Vehicles with datacards that already have the DTHI SC listed on them do not pay the upgrade cost as it was already calculated in the CG.
ENHANCED SINGLE-USE MUNITIONS:
For CNCS forces only, MPZs carried by a Wildfire variant are considered to have an enhanced warhead with the traits [M, AE 2] at no additional TV cost. This enhancement is averaged into the variant swap itself. Territorial Reserve forces may not gain the benefits of this special rule.

WESTERN FRONTIER PROTECTORATE
NORTHERN GUARD NORTHERN GUARD (NORGUARD OR NG) SPECIAL RULES VETERAN LEADERSHIP:
Any NG force of 1,000 TV or less can upgrade a single CGL model to a Veteran Commander for +25 TV. While within this designated command model's Autocomm rating in inches, any NorGuard model has both it's ATK & DEF skill temporarily increased by 1, up to a maximum of skill 3. Member State combat groups on loan to a NorGuard force may not benefit from Veteran Commanders. Another Veteran Commander may be added per each full 500 TV of an army list beyond 1,000 TV. Any CGL model of a non-exclusive combat group in a NG force may start at 1 higher base Leadership skill. This increase costs +10 TV per CGL model upgraded, but may not exceed skill 4 for Veteran combat groups or skill 3 in non-Veteran combat groups. This rule may stack with Universal Force Upgrades.
MEMBER STATES:
While the Northern Guard has its own Regiments, some units are on loan from CNCS member Leagues. One faction exclusive replacement Combat Group from the NAF, UMFA, or WFPA may be used per full 500 TV of a force. Any additional Member State squadrons in that same force must also come from that same chosen League. These squadrons must always be made Veteran and may purchase or receive any allowed option or swap from their own exclusive CG listings, but cannot be used to meet any Priority Level requirements of the NG force. NorGuard Army Commanders may not be placed in a Member States combat group, nor may the loaned squadrons use either the Trade Agreements or Expeditionary Force model swaps.
[TRADE AGREEMENTS]
For 1 squadron per full 500 TV of a force, a NorGuard player may choose to; ◆ Swap any Veteran Jaguar (Stock) CGL model for a Lion (Stock) SECCOM for +20TV each. ◆ Swap any Rabid Grizzly (Stock) CGL model for a Lion (Stock) SECCOM for +5TV each. ◆ Swap any Fire Jaguar variant for a Fire Lion for -15TV each. ◆ Swap up to 3 Hunter XMG (Stock) models or variants for a similar XMG (Custom) for +15TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Jaguar (Stock) models for a Lion (Stock) for +20TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Veteran Tattletale variants for a Weasel Mk2 (Stock) model for +25TV each.
[EXPEDITIONARY FORCE]
Northern Guard forces are normally rather strict in their organization. This typically breaks down after time in the field however as regiments will often pick up stragglers, be assigned support elements, or simply get tasked to work with units from other brigades and divisions. ◆ Swap any Headhunter (Stock) CGL model for a Jaguar (Stock) for +15TV each. ◆ Swap any Metal Cat (Stock) model for a Cheetah (Stock) +5TV each. ◆ Swap any Flak loadout Strike Cheetah for a Lightning loadout Lion for +15TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Hunter (Stock) models for a Jaguar (Stock)for +15TV each.

Each base in both Squads comes equipped with the Heavy Weapon choice purchased from the listed options, a Light MG, and a Vibro-Blade. All of the Section's weapons lack a Stabilizer trait and may be fired at any speed, but not used together. Squads gain ROF bonus equal to the number of bases still in play and may choose to fire their LMGs, heavy weapons, or use their blades. NORTHERN LIGHTS CONFEDERACY ARMED FORCES NORTHERN LIGHTS CONFEDERACY ARMED FORCES (NORLIGHT OR NAF) SPECIAL RULES HAMMERING HEELS:
The Northern counterpart to the Souther Republic, the Confederacy fields the largest standing armed force of any CNCS member League, which rivals the Guard's peacetime numbers. Much of this strength is based on well equipped, adequately trained, and competently led infantry in divisional formations backed by Gears and other mechanized fighting vehicles. As such, a NAF force must always include either at least 1 infantry combat group or an exclusive squadron in which the infantry option was taken. Otherwise the force always counts as being 1 PL higher when resolving which army wins any tied game. For each full 500 TV of any NAF force, a single Foot, Beast, Mounted, or Armored Infantry combat group, including any attached teams or vehicles, may choose it's own Organizational Slot regardless of chosen Regiment Type. However, if a combat group type is listed as unavailable in a particular regiment, it may not be taken with this rule. In an Infantry regiment these sections or platoons may still add Lynx or Ferrets as if a normal infantry CG. NAF exclusive squadrons that include infantry must still adhere to Regimental Availability, but may likewise add Lynx or Ferret models if part of an Infantry Regiment force.
WARRIORS OF FAITH:
For each 1,000 TV of overall force, a NAF list may include a Knights of Massada combat group in any non-Airborne Regiment type. The Knights CG has no priority type and does not replace any generic counterpart. If a Veteran squadron in a PL 3 or 4 army, the Knights may benefit as if part of a “Best of the Best” combat group without counting against the one per force limit.
[NORTHCO INTRIGUE]
NAF forces of less than 500 TV must change all listed models accordingly in any non-Veteran CG. NORTHERN LIGHTS CONFEDERACY ARMED FORCES KNIGHTS OF MASSADA SPECIAL RULES:
For each 1,000 TV of overall force, a NAF list may include a Knights of Massada combat group in any non-Airborne Regiment type. The Knights CG has no priority type and does not replace any generic counterpart. If a Veteran squadron in a PL 3 or 4 army, the Knights may benefit as if part of a “Best of the Best” combat group without counting against the one per force limit.
BATTLE CHAPLAINS:
The prevalence of Revisionism in the NLC is mirrored in the ranks of the NAF, as not only are many soldiers devout adherents, even Chaplains and Monks of the Sorrento Revisionist faith serve as active combatants. Doctrinal schisms and the ongoing war against the CEF have only emboldened these warrior monks further, igniting righteous zealotry against any foe they may encounter. A designated Chaplain model is always considered to be size [+1] when engaged in melee combat for DMG, ATK, or DEF mods, and gains a Free Strike if it ends any Top Speed movement within melee range of a hostile model.
INITIATES:
When the Chaplains march to war they take with them a retinue of the best and brightest their League has to offer. Initiates must prove themselves both in and out of combat before they are allowed to adorn their Gear with the vestments of a Battle Chaplain. Designated Initiate Gears are always considered to be size [+1] when engaged in melee for DMG, ATK, or DEF mods.
FANATICAL DEVOTION:
Whenever the Battle Chaplain suffers damage from an on-board Direct or Indirect Fire attack, that potential damage may be transferred to any Initiate model that is within the CGL model's Autocomm rating in inches. All damage or effects incurred are directly applied to the Initiate variant and the Chaplain model is left unaffected. Damage may not be transferred to an Initiate model targeted or affected by the same attack made against it's own Chaplain model. This intention to transfer effects must be declared before the Chaplain model makes any DEF roll, and neither the Initiate nor Chaplain model may be at Stationary Speed.
Tactical Tip: Refer to the 3rd bullet of page 7 in the Field Manual on gaining one initial melee action while at Top Speed, and page 17 on using Melee Combat, Free Strikes, and Ramming.

UNITED MERCANTILE FEDERATION ARMY UNITED MERCANTILE FEDERATION ARMY (MERCANTILE OR UMFA) SPECIAL RULES DEEP POCKETS:
As the Northern counterpart to the Mekong Dominion, the Federation guides an armed force whose strength is based on industrial might, striking a balance between adequate equipment and personnel versus less casualties in the field that might disconcert non-managerial family members holding stock able to affect Corporate voting. For each full 500 TV of any UMFA force, a single Cavalry, tank, or Strider combat group may choose it's own Organizational Slot regardless of chosen Regiment Type. However, if a combat group type is listed as unavailable in a particular regiment, it may not be taken with this rule. UMFA exclusive squadrons that include Striders must still adhere to Regimental Availability.
AEGIS OF SECURITY:
Soldiers, Pilots, and Crew in the UMFA are expected to perform above and beyond the call of duty at all times and undergo extensive small unit training to maximize their potential to wage mechanized warfare across any spectrum of combat, regardless of the overall force conditions. When constructing a UMFA force a player may add a single Corporate Combat Training array from the listed options to the army by paying the TV cost of that choice for each combat group eligible to utilize it. If an array is chosen this purchase is mandatory. In that UMFA force any model in a generic Heavy Gear-based squad or any faction exclusive CG may benefit from the chosen array.
CORPORATE COMBAT TRAINING ARRAYS AWARENESS ( +5TV ) (ALL COMBAT GROUPS)
UMF forces of less than 500 TV must change all listed models accordingly in any non-Veteran CG. Any force of more than 500 TV must change at least two models in any non-Veteran CG. ◆ Swap any Cheetah (Stock) model for a Bobcat (Stock) for -10TV each.
[CORPORATE CONTROLLED WARFARE]
Northco is the largest Gear manufacturer in the UMF, and their models are quite common in the UMFA given the corporate approach inherent to a High Command pinching every Mark it possibly can to standardize operations. The UMF also has a number of trade agreements with various companies, allowing them to acquire EWAR Gears even without access to Cheetahs. ◆ Swap any Veteran Headhunter (Stock) CGL model for a Jaguar (Stock) for +15TV each. ◆ Swap any Jaguar (Stock) CGL model for a Sabertooth (Stock, Pathfinder, or Airborne variant) for +15TV each. ◆ Swap any Jaguar (Stock) SECCOM CGL model for a Sabertooth (Stock, Pathfinder, or Airborne variant) for +10TV each. ◆ Swap any Flak loadout Strike Cheetah for a Flak loadout Jaguar for +0TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Veteran Silver Cat (Stock) models for a Weasel Mk 1 for -10TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Veteran White Cat (Stock) models for a Weasel Mk 2 for -5TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Hunter (Stock) models for a Tiger (Stock) for +5TV each. ◆ Swap up to 2 Jaguar (Stock) models for a Tiger (Stock)for -10TV each.
INCOMING! (+15TV)(GEARS & FOOT/MOTORIZED/BEAST RIDER INFANTRY CG’S)
CAMARADERIE ( +5TV ) (GEAR & STRIDER COMBAT GROUPS)
If a friendly model from the same combat group is in the rear arc of the target of a rear attack, and is able to gain a Combat Lock from within 8" on that defending model, do not apply the -DEF Rear Attack modifier. Attacks made by Support Point artillery options are unaffected by this array.
An eligible Leadership model may grant the ability to any model (or combined model), including itself, within it's own Autocomm radius that are targeted by an Area of Effect (AE, Blast, and Spray) with DM x8 or more to displace a number of MP equal to half (round down) the LDR Skill value + D3 of the model granting this ability. A model (or combined model) may only benefit from this displacement once per turn and is still limited by it's current mode and speed for turning and traveling through terrain, but may not change elevation level. Displacement happens before the initial attack roll. After displacement, the IF attack is resolved against the same point on the table that a displaced FO target occupied using the same modifiers the Observation had at the moment of declaration.
CONSERVANCY ( +5TV ) (ALL COMBAT GROUPS)
PRECISION ( +0TV ) (GEAR COMBAT GROUPS)
FLEXIBILITY ( +15TV ) (ALL COMBAT GROUPS)
SYNERGY ( +10TV ) (ALL COMBAT GROUPS)
Once per turn any model within double it's own CGL's Autocomm radius that receives a Crossfire modifier may increase it's current speed by a single band in the same mode before rolling DEF. This temporary boost is lost after the attack is resolved.
Models may reroll the highest die when using RoF on an ATK roll and use the new combined result for only the Out of Ammo check. Original ATK results do not change as a result of this array.
39
[NORTHERN RIVALRIES]
Activating models within double their own CGL's Autocomm radius may perform a Crash Stop, changing speed to Stationary in the same mode, without needing to take a Stun counter.
Evan Anhorn (order #6665923)
Models at Stationary Speed, using an LRP or IRP to make a Direct Fire attack into any Range Band, may increase that attack result by 1 for each die that came up as a 4 or 5. Eg: an attack roll of 5,5,5 would give instead a result of 6,6,6.
Models given 2iC status may attempt to transmit Command Points, up to half of it's LDR skill (round down), to models in their own combat group as if it was a CGL model.

NORTHERN TERRITORIAL RESERVES NORTHERN TERRITORIAL RESERVES (NTR) SPECIAL RULES Much like the bonded Antarctic Mercenary Guild bands and Leagueless groups that roam the equatorial Badlands as peace keepers or convoy escorts, there is another level of troops not always directly connected to the North's standing armed forces. Often referred to in sum as the Boreal Militia, these Territorial Reserves are semi-professional combat units of variable size, capability, and equipment that protect locales ranging from combined homesteads and towns to Oasis towers or independent city states along the fringes of the Arctic Leagues. A mix of competent amateurs and retired veterans ensures however that what force a Territorial unit does manage to field will still be reasonably effective compared to average Polar formations. Reserve forces are constructed as either an Infantry or Heavy Gear Regiment at a PL of 1, 2, or 3, but may not gain the benefits of the Gear Regiment type. They also may not use any combat group, model, variant, or loadout listed below unless a patronage option allows. If a CG subtype contains a restricted model before any options are taken, that version may not be used in a Territorial force. Reserve forces choose no League during Army construction, this supersedes the normal rule.
RESTRICTED (NOT AVAILABLE) COMBAT GROUP TYPES:
Airborne, Heavy Tank, Light Strider, any Faction Exclusive.
RESTRICTED MODELS - INCLUDES ANY LOADOUTS OR VARIANTS :
Black Cat, Cheetah SECCOM, Hunter XMG, Standard or Master Klemm, Kodiak, Lion, Mammoth (Stock or Command), Panther, Rabid Badger, Silver Cat, Strike Cheetah, Thunderhammer, White Cat, Wild Ferret, Weasel Mk 1 or 2.
RESTRICTED LOADOUTS AND VARIANTS:
Arrow, Crossbow, Defender, Destroyer, Flash, Mountain, Spearhead.
RESTRICTED SUPPORT POINT EXPENDITURES:
Fighter-Bomber or Bomber Air Strikes, [Guided]-trait Artillery Strikes, Guaranteed Reserves.
TENACITY
If the CGL model of any Reserve combat group is destroyed, and no 2iC model is present, any surviving on-board model in that same group may be designated as a replacement CGL and given Leadership:1 if in a Veteran combat group. Expedient CGL models may also be replaced if destroyed. Infantry may become expedient CGLs, but may not be given the LDR skill.
[MAKING DO]
NTR forces of less than 500 TV must change all listed models accordingly in any non-Veteran CG. Any force of more than 500 TV must change at least three models in any non-Veteran CG. ◆ Swap any Jaguar (Stock) CGL model for a Headhunter (Stock) for -15TV each. ◆ Swap any Jaguar (Stock) SECCOM CGL model for a Headhunter (Stock) for -20TV each. ◆ Swap any Jaguar model or variant for a similar Hunter model or variant for -15TV each. ◆ Swap any Grizzly (Stock) model for a Peacemaker Razorback variant for -25TV each.
43
◆ Swap any Cheetah (Stock) model for a Ferret Mk 1 (Stock) model for -15TV each.

PATRONAGE
While nominally independent, a few locales are considered more important to some Northern Leagues than others, and those not “encouraged” into full alliance often receive various forms of aid from an interested, or invested, government. To represent this assistance a Territorial Reserve force may incorporate military aid offered by one of the Northern Leagues. Any Reserve force may use a single option in the army for each 500 TV or part thereof, and further options chosen by that force must come from the same Patronage listing. Options may have further requirements but the same listed option may be chosen again and applied to another combat group. If an option allows any previously restricted benefits, variants, swaps, or combat group picks any rules, options, or limitations applicable to that choice still apply.
