1. General The GP-1850/W series display unit consists of the following components. Parts Name MAIN board
ANLG board PNL board GPS receiver BEACON receiver LCD unit
Function The board, heart of the unit consits of a CPU, ROM, RAM, Card Interface circuit, a buzzer and a lithium battery. The board generates high voltage for LCD backlighting. The difference between A, B, E, and F is system program only. The board includes power supply and echosounder circuits. The board consists of key switches and backlight LEDs. The receiver receives and processes satellite signal for position fix. The receiver receives radiobeacon DGPS to remove errors in GPS position fix. High voltage for LCD backlighting is derived from J101 on MAIN board to Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light (CCFL) in the LCD unit.
TX Output signal of echosounder circuit 50 kHz and 200 kHz transmitters in echosounder circuit on 14P0313B board outputs the following signal to the transducer. Range setting: 1200 m 50 kHz: 20 to 25 Vpp
Oscilloscope setting:
200 kHz: 27 to 32 Vpp
5 V/div, 200 us/div
(600 W)
Test points: Pins 8 and 10 on J2 (with XDR connected)
0.2 ms

4. Replacing major parts To replce the major parts, follow the steps below. 1. Place the unit on soft surface – face down. Remove all nuts (arrowed in Fig.2) and 12 screws (ringed) fixing the cover to the front panel. Then, lift the cover. Fig.3 shows GP-1850/W series display unit with the cover removed.

3. Remove the shield cover, and unplug J2, J4 and J6 on MAIN board. The MAIN board is battery backupped, so it is recommended that before removing MAIN board, disconnect either lead of JP6 not to damage the components on the board by a short circuit. With JP6 disconnected, the board is not battery backupped. Lithium battery at soldering side MAIN board, 14P0311

5. How to install DGPS beacon receiver Refer to the installation manual.
6. Replacing lithium battery To replace the battery with new one, follow the steps below. 1. Disconnect JP6 on MAIN board. See Fig.5. 2. Use a desoldering tool to remove the battery from MAIN board. 3. Solder the replacement battery onto the board. 4. Solder JP6. CAUTION 1) Replace the battery only with CR2450-F2 ST2L (000-144-941). 2) Never short + and – sides of the cell. 3) The lithium cell may explode resulting in a fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble heat, or incinerate. 4) Follow local ordinances or regulations for the disposal.

1) By using PC The following explains how to upgrade the software by using a PC. The “up boot” upgradation is carried out only when requested. Before upgradation The batch file “up_boot. bat” is designed for the use of COM2 port of the PC. When COM 1 port is used, the batch file needs to be modified by using a text editor application such as Note Pad. The last number is changed from “2” to “1” when COM 1 port is used. Uppg load. bin GPXXXX. 0 0 1 0 0 0 2
Procedure 1. Copy all files in EXE files to PC. 2. Connect the COM port of the PC to the DGPS port of the plotter.
