INTRODUCTION •

In 1989, Gorkha brewery (P) Ltd. was established as a joint collaboration between leading leading Nepali business houses and the Danish Multinational Company Carlsberg A/S.



Gorkha Brewery (P) Ltd. was was and continues to be one of the largest single foreign investment in Nepal.



Established on the banks of river river Narayani Narayani river in Mukundapur Mukundapu r in Nawalparasi Nawalparasi and spreads over nearly seven hectares.



Central Office located in Hattisar, Hattisar, Kathmandu. K athmandu.



Changed the Nepalese beer industry forever.



Grown to become the market leader holding holding 72% share of Nepal's beer market over last 15 years.



Tuborg was the first international beer brand in Nepal.



Tuborg enjoys a market share of approximately 50% of the total beer market in Nepal.



Carlsberg group bought 90% of Gorkha Brewery shares and took over the management.

HISTORY •

The foundation of one of the largest single foreign investment in Nepal laid down in 1989.



 Joint collaboration between Danish Multinational Company Carlsberg Breweries, Copenhagen, Denmark and leading Nepalese business house-Khetan  group.



Started beer industry with the introduction of Tuborg beer in 1990.







Carlsberg beer followed in 1995 and Royal Danish Tuborg Strong Beer in 2002. Acquisition of San Miguel Beer and the Launch of Jolly Shandy &  Jolly Lemonade in 2006 . The launch of flagship brand of Gorkha Brewery, Gorkha Beerthe authentic Himalayan brew in 2006.

Founded in Copenhagen in 1847 by Brewer and Philanthropist J.C. Jacobsen.

One year later, J.C. Jacobsen amalgamated his two breweries into Gamle Carlsberg (Old Carlsberg).

TUBORG •

History stretches back to 1873 when a group of enterprising businessmen led by C.F. Tietgen and Philip W. Heyman decided to construct a brewery on a piece of land north of Copenhagen.

The number tripled during the period up to the first world war.



Tuborg's salesforce was able to re-establish the position of the brand in 1930s.

San Miguel •







The origin of San Miguel goes all the way to the Philippines where Spanish monks started making beer using traditional methods. Monks lived in Manila and in a district called 'San Miguel'. In 1913, La Fabrica became a corporation and began exporting beer to Guam, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. An aggregate annual production capacity of about 325 million cases of San Miguel Beer in 320ml bottles











Rich, with a full-bodied flavor, its smooth, moderate bitterness is complemented by a pleasant, happy aroma, which makes San Miguel a perfectly balanced beer.  In 2004, San Miguel Beer received a Grand Gold medal, the highest award for quality and taste from the prestigious Monde Selection administered by the International Institute for Quality Selections. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Waste-Water Treatment Plant Established a water treatment plant in order to reduce the adulteration of water by industrial wastages in its brewery at Mukundapur.



Designed in such a way that the BOD of the waste matter is reduced to minimum 20 mg.







Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of the effluent is very high (1000 mg/1 BOD) as far as brewery is concerned. Helps to get the sludge free water which is then gravitated to Narayani River.







Only brewery in Nepal to have WWTP of International Standards. Installed by Dan brew Limited of Denmark and Fulfills all the environmental parameters. Furthermore, maintenance of lush greenery in & around the Brewery sprawled over an area of 11 Bighas and building of several dikes to protect the adjoining village bear testimony to its commitment towards the environment & the Green "Movement".

Gorkha Brewery (GBPL) supports a local secondary level school Shree Durga Primary School, in Mukundapur, Nawalparasi District. Plans to provide necessary furniture for the classrooms Arrange for a water tank to systematize the provision of safe drinking water Upgrade the current wire fencing to brick wall around the school premise Provide necessary resources for the purpose of adding electricity and provisions of ceiling fans in each class room.

Micro Finance Project • •





Livestock financing. Has partnered with a local bank with experience in the area. The loan facility is provided for purchase of mature milk  yielding cows/buffaloes, on a group guarantee to those families with an annual income of less than USD.1000.

First loan was disbursed on 10  January 2011. •

Till date 22 groups of 5 members each, a total of 110 borrowers have availed of credit facility amounting to NPR. 63,20,000 .

Mt. Everest Project •



Along with attracting a large no. of tourists, the heavy pressure exerted from tourism has also resulted in increased ecological degradation from erosion, wastes and deforestation. Everest Summiteers Nepal in association with Eco Himal has

organized the ‘Saving Everest 2011’ campaign. •



The team helped collect the garbage from Lukla to Syanboche region to help make the Everest Region free of garbage. collected approximately five tons of garbage abandoned by trekkers and mountaineers.
