Description

Gideon changes to the English Standard Stand ard Version New Testament Joshua Holman In 2013 The Gideons International (TGI; also known as the Gideons) announced they would transition their modern English version from the New King James Version  Version   to the English Standard Version  Version  (ESV).1  At the same time the group announced that the text would 2 “include over 50 alternate renderings consistent with the Textus Receptus”.  This is a listing of these changes; they are in red red.. The third column indicates if the change is supported with a footnote in the ESV. In making this list, I have used the text found at the Daily Bible Reading section of the Gideons website and the text as found at Bible at Bible Gateway. Gateway. The website Diff Checker was used to spot any differences. In making this list, I want to put myself on record as expressing my appreciation to the TGI for their ministry of spreading the Bible to others and helping to lead lost souls to Christ. I also want to put myself on record as thanking Crossway for making the ESV – one of the best English translations we have today. In saying all of this, I make this list not to disparage these ministries but as an intellectual curiosity, as I have been interested in the Bible and its translations in English for almost 20 years now. I wish to thank Bradford thank  Bradford Taliaferro for his help and encouragement in making this list. I pray it will be a blessing to you. This list is not endorsed by The Gideons International or Crossway; all opinions are my own. Feel free to use this file. I ask that I (Joshua Holman) be credited.
