187 INTRODUCCION Este método se refiere al sistema de minería en masa, en el que la extracción depende de la gravedad. Removiendo una delgada rebanada horizontal en la base del bloque, bloque el soporte vertical de la columna de mineral se elimina y el mineral continúa rompiendo y hundiendo por gravedad. A medida que se extrae el mineral por el nivel de minado, el mineral que está encima sigue con el proceso de ruptura y hundiendo por ggravedad. Actualmente, el término de hundimiento por bloques se usa para todo tipo de minería, que utilice el hundimiento por gravedad, aunque este no se realice por bloques rectangulares. 373

VENTAJAS Se obtiene alta productividad, de 15 a 50 t/(hombre‐turno) El costo de producción es bajo, casi como la de tajo abierto Una vez que el hundimiento empieza, se consigue una producción elevada.
