FIRST SACTION: OPTION OF FUEL,LUBRICANT,COOLANT

1.OPTION OF FUEL fuel of diesel engine in our country has three types ①light diesel oil ②heavy diesel oil ③fuel oil ， light diesel oil has No.10 、 No.0 、 No.10 、 No.-20 and No.-35 etc 5 kinds 。 Perkins diesel engine is required to use diesel above No.0 made in our country or use diesel oil imported which has better quality than our country.

2.OPTION OF LUBRICANT （ 3 ） classification of lubricant At present ,universal classification standard of lubricant is SAE viscosity standard and API quality class standard ,the two standard is marked on the lubricant bucket clearly. 1 ） By the method of SAE classification ： lubricant is classified for 3 class: the lubricant has only single viscosity 、 the lubricant has two viscosities and the lubricant has several viscosities, The lubricant which has only single viscosity only can be used in summer or in winter. ①The type of lubricant for winter ： 0W 、 5W 、 10W 、 15W 、 20W 、 25W and so on ，” W” means winter, the smaller is the value before “W” the smaller is the viscosity under low temperature ,the better is flow under low temperature and applicable for the lower temperature. ② The type of lubricant for summer ： 20 、 30 、 40 、 50 and so on ， the bigger is the figure , the bigger is viscosity and applicable for higher temperature 。 ③ The type of lubricant for winter and summer ： 5W/20 、 5W/30 、 5W/40 、 5W/50 、 10W/20 、 10W/30 、 10W/40 、 10W/50 、 15W/20 、 15W/30 、 15W/40 、 15W/50 、 20W/20 、 20W/30 、 20W/40 、 20W/50 ， the smaller is the figure ”W” and the higher is the figure after “/”,the wider is temperature for lubricant to be applicable 。

2 ） By the method of API quality class ： The lubricant is classified diesel system (namely C series) and gasoline system (namely S series) ,lubricant`s quality class of either series is classified in sequence letter A---L, the latter is letter A---L, the higher is lubricant`s quality class, performance of the lubricant marked by latter letter is better than that of the lubricant marked by the former letter ,the lubricant market by latter letter has more additive to protect Genset than the lubricant market by the former letter. In general ,the lubricant imported ,whose packing box`s sign is made up of SAE viscosity classification and API quality classification ,the sign has “SAE”;the packing box`s sign of the lubricant classified by API quality has no “API”, but market by viscosity code, for example:CD15W/40,”C”means for diesel engine, “D” mean quality class, “15W/40” is the type.

Option of using grade Option of using grade needs mostly to pay attention to engine type. The different engine type has different power and the average speed of pistons also is different and the effective pressure of the piston and the turning speed of the engine is different, the higher is the effective pressure of the piston ,the faster is the turning speed of the engine ,the higher is demand for grade of engine oil. When selecting to use engine oil ,must be strictly according to using grade which is prescribed in the engine instruction ,if no the same grade engine oil ,the higher grade can be used to supersede lower grade engine oil to use ,but lower grade engine oil can not be superseded as lower grade engine oil to use.

3.Option of coolant cooling water can not contain a great deal mineral ,impurity ,erodent material ,or else make radiator jammed or be damaged .therefore coolant must use soft water (distilled water ,rainwater ,tap water) ,can not use hard water (seawater ,well water). during winter ,that cooling water ices makes cylinder swell to be broken ,so in winter ,put proper antifreeze in the coolant ,if the antifreeze is not the one we provide ,the antifreeze must meet BS6588,ASTMD3306-1989 or AS2108-1977 standard. in order to deduce cooling water’s freezing point, select antifreeze confected by glycol or alcohol and

glycerol according to local environment temperature ,see diagram below.
