GENERAL INFORMATION

INTRODUCTION This instruction covers the procedure for balancing General Electric turbocharger rotor assemblies. Refer to Section 1.2, for assembly instructions for the rotor built up from turbine disk and compressor wheel assemblies.

tion 1.2). Include a drive pulley if it is required for the balancing machine.

NOTE: Any tooling used for balancing, such as a drive pulley, must be balanced itself so that it does not contribute more than 0.002 in. oz. out of balance to the balancing operation 2. Support the rotor at the bearing center lines in the balance machine (Figure 11). See TABLE 1 for setup data. Rotate the rotor at 1100 rpm minimum. 3. Dynamic balance the rotor to within 0.03 in. oz. in each of the two planes shown in Figure 1 (planes A and B) by removing material from the two areas indicated. Observe the limits for material removal as shown in Figure1.
