Checking and Setting Voltages and Fuses This appendix describes how to check and change the voltage a n d fu s e s i n t h e LASER P ULSE Synchronizer and the Mirror Image Sh ifter. From the following s ections , select th e i n s t r u c t i on s a p p r o p r i a t e fo r y ou r i n s t r u m e n t .

Line Voltages and Fuses for the LASERPULSE Synchronizer This s ection gives informa tion on line voltages an d fuses for t h e LASER P ULSE Synchronizer. The Synchronizer can operate on several AC line voltages (100–120, 220–240 volts). The Synchronizer automatically senses the line voltage and sets itself. The fus e, however, sh ould m atch the line voltage. Table 1 lists the fuses for each line voltage. Table 1 Matching the Fuse to the Line Voltage Lin e Vo lt age (VAC) 1 0 0 –1 2 0 2 2 0 –2 4 0

Replacing Faulty Fuses The LASER P ULSE Synchron izer us es a 3-a mp (250 volt) fuse with 100–120 VAC and a 1.5-a mp (250 volt) fuse with 220 – 240 VAC. To replace a faulty fuse, follow these steps: 1 . Disconnect the power from the Synchronizer and remove th e line cord. 2 . Lift off the power-entry modu le on the b ack p an el of the Synchr onizer u sing a sm all-blade screwdriver or similar tool. 3 . Replace the fus es with Time-Lag, 250 V fu ses. 4 . Replace the power-entry m odule cover.

Changing Between European and AmericanStyle Fuses Before installing th e Synchron izer, mak e su re the fus e is compa tible with your site. The Synch ronizer works with b oth North American an d Eu ropean -style fus es. The 10 0–120-volt model comes with the American-style fuse and the 220–240volt model is equipped with the Eu ropean -style fus e. If you need to cha nge th e fuse from North American (Figure F-3) to the Eu ropean style (Figur e F-4), follow these s teps: 1 . Disconnect the power from the Synchronizer and remove the line cord.

Appendix A: Line Voltages and Fuses for the Mirror Image Shifter The Mirror Image Shifter can operate on the following AC line voltages: 100–120 and 220–240 volts. Make sure that the line voltage indicated in the window of the AC power-cord connector corr espond s to th e incoming line voltage (see Figure 1). *  Note:

6 . Insert the voltage-selector card into the housing, making sure the edge containing the desired voltage is inserted first an d th e printed s ide of the car d faces the IEC (power cord) conn ector. 7 . Replace the cover, making sure that the indicator pin sh ows the des ired voltage.

To change th e voltage settin g, follow these s teps: 1 . Disconn ect the power from th e Image Shifter an d rem ove the line cord. Locate the power-entry m odule or the ba ck  pan el of the Image shifter. 2 . Lift off the cover of the power-cord connector using a small-blade screwdriver or similar tool (Figure 4). Set aside the cover/ fus e block assemb ly. 3 . Pull voltage-selector card str aight out of hou sing us ing the indicator pin.
