3. MODEL SELECTION AND CAPACITY CALCULATION 3-1. SELECTION PROCEDURE OF INDOOR UNIT AND OUTDOOR UNIT MODEL SELECTION

MODEL SELECTION

Please select indoor units and outdoor units and make the capacity of each indoor unit be larger than cooling and heating load. 1 Calculate heat load of each room

2 Tentative selection of indoor units

3 Calculate the total cooling capacity or heating capacity of indoor units The total cooling capacity or heating capacity of indoor units = The sum of capacity of indoor units x Capacity change rate by suction temperature of indoor unit : Calculate by the value of the outdoor temperature 95°F when cooling, 47°F when heating.

4 Tentative selection of outdoor unit

5 Calculate the Maximum cooling capacity or heating capacity of outdoor unit The maximum cooling capacity or heating capacity of outdoor unit = Capacity of outdoor unit calculated from total of indoor unit rated capacity with capacity table x Capacity change rate by temperature conditions (Calculate by the value of indoor units connecting capacity in 100%) x Capacity change rate by indoor units connecting capacity : Calculate by the value of standard temperature conditions (When indoor units connecting capacity is only 100% or more) x Capacity change rate by refrigerant pipe length x Capacity change rate by frosting (Only heating operation)

6 Actual cooling capacity or heating capacity of system (Smaller one of 3 and 5)

7 Calculate the cooling capacity or heating capacity of each indoor unit The cooling capacity or heating capacity of each indoor unit = Rated capacity of each indoor unit x 6 System capacity / The sum of rated capacity of indoor units

8 Check the heat load and capacity of indoor unit of each rooms (Are you satisfied 7≥1 ?) Note: Outdoor unit is added and calculated again to lower the total rated capacity of indoor unit in case of capacity shortage.

Caution ● The installation space shown in the following examples is based on an ambient temperature under cooling operation of 95 °F DB (35 °C DB) at the air intake of the outdoor unit. Provide more space around the air intake than shown in the examples if the ambient temperature exceeds 95 °F DB (35 °C DB) or if the thermal load of all of the outdoor units exceeds the capacity. ● Consider the transportation route, installation space, maintenance space, and access, and install the unit in a location with sufficient space for the refrigerant piping. ● Observe the installation space specifications that are shown in the figures. Provide the same space for the air intake at the rear of the outdoor unit. If the installation is not performed according to the specifications, it could cause a short circuit and result in a lack of operating performance. As a result, the outdoor unit might easily be stopped by high-pressure protection. Air intake

Fast

Previous turbo fan

2-stage turbo fan

In the case of a conventional fan, the air outlet range was narrow as the airflow moved to the motor side which meant the velocity of air passing through the heat exchanger was uneven.

A evenly spread air distribution across the heat exchanger is possible due to the new 2 stage turbo fan which produces two separate airflow streams. 1-stage

Optimization of wing form (laminar wing type) and wing number (7 blades each) Designed by CFD-analysis (fluid) simulations Laminar wing
