Sew C to the B/A/B unit from step 1. Press.

Place the unit from step 2 and the D strip on a piece of lightweight batting. Quilt using a C crosshatch over all but the B/A/B unit. Stitch 1/4" away from the seams on both side of the B/A/B unit.

Sew the remaining C to the D strip. Clip the curves. Line D and C up with B/A/B unit. Begin sewing seam 1/4" below C (bag front) B/A/B seam. wrong side Pivot on this D point when sewing on binding. Center Center 5- Fold F in half (right sides together). Sew down the two sides. Turn F right side out. Sew a row of basting stitches along the fold and bottom of F. Gather each row to 4" wide. Fold a 4-1/2" piece of bias (green) 1/4" in on both short ends. Fold the strip in half lengthwise. Sew to the top edge of the bag. Fold binding to the back and stitch down. 4" Fold in 1/4" F 6-
Baste the pocket from step 5 to the C lining. Sew the bag (at the sides) to the lining C.

Place the E pieces wrong sides together. (Optional; cut an E of batting, sandwich the E layers, quilt). Sew the bias strip (folded in half lengthwise) to the top edge of E layers. Fold the binding E over and stitch down. Pattern #991265
Pin E to the right side of G. Sew a row of stitches down the center of E.

16- REMOVABLE HANDLE: Sew a buttonhole on each end of the handle. Sew a button to each side of the bag.
Fold G over 5-1/4" and crease.
10- Repeat the process from step 4 using the lining pieces and a 3/8" seam allowance. Begin and end the D strip flush with the crease made in step 9.

PERMANENT HANDLE: Sew the handle to the bag. Sew a button, if desired, on each handle where it is sewn to the bag. 17- Sew a button hole in scallop A. Sew a button to the middle of C.
11- Bind the edges of H. H 12- Slip the lining into the bag with the wrong side of the lining against the wrong side of the bag. Center the D lining with the D bag front. Pin to secure.
USE THE SCRAPS TO MAKE A SECOND BAG! Lining
13- Trim the lining flush with the scalloped edge of the bag and top edges of the Lining outer bag.
14- Sew binding to the raw edges of the bag sewing through all layers. Slow down at the side seams. Lower the sewing machine needle where the seams match, pivot the bag and continue sewing. Stitch the binding down using tiny stitches. 15- Optional: add quilting stitches 1/4" in from the scalloped edge of the binding. 991265-02
