Summary From a young age I have been interested in giving back to the community. My summers spent volunteering in Honduras have inspired me to pursue a career in medicine in order to help improve the health care systems of third world countries. I am currently an undergraduate student studying Neurology and Physiology in the Honors College at the University of Maryland. I am enrolled in two honors programs: Digital Cultures and Creativity, and QUEST. After graduation in May 2017, I would like to spend a year doing research before heading to medical school. While I do not have a particular focus on a field of medicine in mind, helping people in underdeveloped countries remains my passion and I hope to join the organization Doctors Without Borders to advance health care systems around the world.

Projects RemindMe March 2015 to Present Members:Isabelle Lock, Jackson Shannon, Kathleen Won, Christopher Euerle RemindMe is an app idea that helps University of Maryland students to deal with their stress by helping them to stop procrastinating their homework assignments and projects. Integrated with the Enterprise Learning Management System (ELMS), RemindMe sends multiple notifications to procrastinating students until their assignments have been submitted. Check out our prototype at the project URL! RemindMe was a collaborative project in design thinking led by the University of Maryland's Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Collaborators include Christopher Euerle, Jackson Shannon, Kathleen Won, and Pat Dowling. DCC ETC January 2015 to Present Members:Isabelle Lock DCC ETC is a data visualization project that attempts to change meaningless information as a thing and turn it into something much more impactful. Many introductory biology students are often baffled by, arguably, the most vital, yet abstruse function in living systems – cellular respiration. My capstone will attempt to convey how one of the parts of cellular respiration, the electron transport chain, operates through an interactive model of the system. DCC ETC will utilize the skills I’ve learned in DCC workshops, such as 3D printing and Arduino, to ensure that my model is more accurate, engaging, and interactive than other models that I’ve come across in my career as a biology student.
