DESCRIPTION: The KG40-04 analogue speed governor control box is used extensively for diesel and gas engine electrical power generation and Combined Heat and Power installations. OEM’s include, Perkins 4000 series, MAN Gas engines and Deutz. The KG40-04 controller is designed to drive the Heinzmann range of permanent magnet driven actuators in the range of 38Nm of part number, STG40-10 and STG40-14. Analogue and Digital Speed controllers available from stock. Fitting of the control box can be in any position or attitude relative to the engine and has the advantage of being able to be mounted away from engine in a remote or local control panel. Another major advantage is that the controller is that it drives the actuator motor in both directions at full rated torque and has a closed loop positional drive allowing high torque to overcome linkage friction over the fuel rack range 0—100%. The high torque comes with the advantage of low actuating running current. On a Deutz and Jenbacher Gas engine, the STG40 running current is normally no more than 1.8 amperes at steady state rated speed. 1

SERVICE OFFERED Governor Technical Solutions offers to supply a comprehensive range of NEW and service exchange Heinzmann analogue and digital speed governors for actuator ranges STG6-01 up to STG40. A comprehensive overhaul service is available based on a 48 hour turnaround from receipt of the customers part and confirmation in writing of the overhaul quotation . An express 24 hour service is also available including weekend working. All parts replaced are genuine, to the original manufacturers specification and come with a 12 month warranty. Extended warranty is also available on request. However this does depend upon the diesel or gas engines duty. The KG40-04 with SFBG-03 Start Fuel units control a range of actuators fitted to the Deutz gas / diesel engines and Jenbacher Gas. These are readily available from a comprehensive new or service exchange stock in the UK.

KG40-04+SFBG Governor Control Box KG40-04 Control Box Wiring Diagram:

The Governor Control Box KG40-04 often requires the fitting of a Start Fuel Limitation board in the controller to aid smoke limitation on engine starting. The start fuel board is called a SFBG -03 unit and fits on the right hand side inside the governor control box. There are two settings for the SFBG-03 unit: 

0 –100% fuel position whilst starting ( No limit when running)



0-100% fuel position limit after starting ( Load Limit).

KG40-04+SFBG Governor Control Box DPES-01 …...KG40-04 Control Box Engine Simulator: The DPES-01 unit was designed to allow the KG analogue engine speed governor to be tested and simulated without the engine running. This has the advantage of knowing that the speed set point and frequency range of the engine governor is correct before the engine is started. A practical advantage of this is the setting of the governor speed droop when the minimum and maximum fuel positions are known. The primary use of the unit is to enable the speed governor to be used in closed loop speed control without the engine having to be run. This unit has the ability to show that the governor is running correctly without the engine having to be started. ( Excellent service tool for service engineers ) The unit comes with a hand carry case with all leads and associated battery and mains power pack. Full calibration of the speed governor range can be accomplished in both Isochronous and Droop Speed control. Simulated load is also possible for Droop and Isochronous speed control allowing full actuator movement over the full 0 – 100% actuator travel.

KG40-04 Actuator Current Sensing: When all simulation settings have been made using the DPES-01 for the speed governor it is useful to test the actuator current to show that the current settings in the controller are set correctly. The current not only indicates the value whilst the engine is running, but also indicates that the actuator selection for the size of engine is correct. All Heinzmann STG actuators have a maximum transient/stall current of 6.5 amperes, but the running current must not exceed 3.2 A. The current also indicates if there is a sticking fuel rack, when the engine is running.
