Workshop: Getting started as a translator   As part of your English Learning Process, it is important to get familiar with technical vocabulary in order to be able to translate short pieces of texts containin technical information.

10. Non-productive time (during which an employee is still paid) of employees or machines, or both, due to work stoppage from any cause. Also called idle time, allowed time, or downtime.

To make a good translation it’s important to know the technical vocabulary, to understand the context and to be sure that the words that you’re using have meaning. 2. According to your experience, do you consider that translation is a complex activity? Explain. Translation is a complex activity because you have t o take an idea, to transform it in another language and to make sure that the “new” idea is exactly the same. The words are different because you are changing the idiom but the meaning has to be the same. 3. What do you think is necessary to do a correct translation? It’s necessary to have an adequate knowledge of both languages, of the technical vocabulary and the context. 4. According to your experience, what is the most difficult aspect about translation? The most difficult aspect is to capture the real meaning of the idea and be able to translate it and project it into the other language
