Composer Notes This is a simple Communion song with an easily learned and memorized refrain. Choral harmonies should not begin until after the first verse. The verses are Jesus’ words and are ideally sung by a soloist or the choir. The assembly responds by singing the refrain, which is Saint Paul’s reflection on the Eucharist from 1 Corinthians 11. After trying various endings in the studio, we decided to simply end the song on the F chord. Yes, this leaves the song unresolved, and I think that makes it more musically interesting. Please resist the temptation to go back to the B-flat chord. (If you must resolve it, please wait until liturgy is over.) —Ken Canedo
