1.2 Descriptions of the terminal “EV22” “EV22MD” “EV22ME”
The “EV 22” terminal is a high accuracy electronic weighing instrument, expressly designed for this purpose. It guarantees extremely precise weighing and enables the connection with any external devices. The terminal can be connected to strain gage load cells which receive – directly or through a lever system – the weight transmitted by the weighing platform. This terminal is also provided in the ”EV 22 MD” and ”EV 22 ME” versions, also called resp. multi–interval (MD) and multi–extension (ME) models. They are characterized by the possibility to operate in manifold weighing ranges, each one having its own resolution (interval). These instruments display the weight value by automatically selecting the resolution as a function of the range corresponding to the concerned weight. The terminal allows max. three ranges with 3000 intervals each to be displayed. The instrument features, i.e. its operation with one or more weighing ranges, are given in the plate containing the technical metrological data of the instrument (see par. 1.4 on page 11). The data1.1.1 concerning these features are given as shown in the example in table and described here below below. . EV 22 1 single weighing range

– “EV 22” terminal display
Connect the electronic terminal to a weighing platform. The minimum interval of terminal reading r eading is always the same for the whole weighing range for any mass deposited on the platform . The interval is 2 kg. – “EV 22 MD” display
Connect the “EV 22 MD” (multi–interval) terminal terminal to a weighing platform and put a mass within the second extension on it, then unload the platform slowly. Passing from the second to the first extension, the display will show the updated value of the minimum interval which passes from 2 kg to 1 kg (see ”EV 22” terminal). When a self–weighed tare is entered, the terminal shows shows the net weight at zero and returns to the first weighing extension. The set tare cannot have higher values than the maximum capacity of the first weighing extension. – “EV 22 ME” display
With the “EV 22 ME” (multi–extension) terminal connected to the weighing platform and with a weight ranging within the second extension, unload the platform slowly. The weight displayed displayed on the terminal will always have the interval of the reached extension. In our example it will always have the 2–kg interval, even if passing to the lower extension. The tare device doesn’t influence the weighing extension change, which exclusively depends on the weight value. If the weighing extension is changed, the tare values are rounded to the new interval: when the instrument is unloaded, the tare values are set to zero.

2.3 General safety rules
Read this handbook carefully before starting and using the terminal and before any maintenance or other interventions. Do not allow non–authorized personnel to intervene on the instrument. Do not press the terminal control keys with pointed objects.
2.4 Safety rules for the installers
During the installation always connect the system to a socket with 220 V ± 10% single–phase voltage provided with a suitable ground pole, checking that this line is in compliance with the regulations in force. Also make sure that between ground and neutral there is no potential difference. The power supply line must be privileged. If existing, use the power supply line of the computers. When the line is not stable, introduce a no–break generating set or mains stabilizer. stabilizer. If the terminal is to be connected to other devices such as computers, etc..., before executing the connections disconnect them from the electric mains. The terminal has been designed to bear temperature changes between –10°C and +40°C and for humidity values not exceeding 85% (see also the technical data in par. 8.1.1 on page 140). For environments environments with lot of dust or humidity put the terminal into a suitable protection case. Each maintenance and repair intervention must be executed by skilled personnel only.
2.5 Safety rules for the maintenance personnel
Before opening the terminal it is compulsory to disconnect it from the power supply mains and wait a few minutes before intervening on the inner parts.

All products by Coop. Bilanciai are carefully checked and tested in every part. During the tests the products undergo a series of complete working cycles. In this step any failures due to defective components are shown. This procedure guarantees a properly working and reliable product in all its parts.
3.2 Delivery of the terminal
CAUTION!! Carefully observe the instructions on the instrument package. It may be impaired by humidity and strong impacts as its components are electronic. Therefore, both transport and storage must be per- formed with particular care.
The whole material delivered by Coop. Bilanciai has been carefully checked before the shipment. The instrument is delivered suitably protected in a carton package, if not otherwise agreed.
19
CAUTION!! When you receive the equipment, check if there are any damages occurred during transport; transport; if this is the case, please make a complaint to the carrier.

Wit h the terminal “EV22” in the package there is an envelope containWith ing the following material: – no. 1 mains adapter for the terminal connection connection to the power supply supply line; – no. 1 cable for the connection to the weighing platform; – no. 2 9–pole male connectors for the serial interface connection; – no. 1 “Use and maintenance“ handbook. If the terminal is supplied by internal batteries, an additional more powerful adapter is provided for their recharging. 20
WARNING If the terminal is provided with internal batteries, use the additional, more powerful adapter. If you use the plug adapter you can’t charge the inter- nal batteries, as the supplied voltage is not enough.
3.5 Terminal handling
CAUTION!! The terminal must be handled with extreme care, particularly if it has no package.
21
3.6 Installation of the desktop terminal
WARNING Coop. Bilanciai is not responsible for damages due to a non–careful terminal handling. In the desktop installation leave a suitable space around the terminal, especially at least 100 mm on the rear side. This avoids anomalous squeezing of the cables that could even break. Do not place next to the terminal connection cables power cables that could endanger the instrument operation. Should the cable be short, avoid extending it by joints, but apply to the manufacturer.
Note: if the terminal is provided with batteries, it is advisable to recharge them as shown in chapter 7 on page 115.

3.7 Connection of the “EV 22 terminal”
DANGER!! The power supply line of the terminal must have volt- age and frequency as indicated at the back of the ter- minal. Any installation intervention must be performed only by skilled personnel and only if the terminal is discon- nected from the power supply mains.
For a correct electrical connection proceed as follows: properly fit the three–pole circular power supply conn connector ector (JAL) on the rear part of the terminal, screw its fastening ring nut and fit the adapter into the proper current socket;
3.7.1 Connection of the EV22 terminal to an outer battery or to another continuous voltage generator
completely fit the female connector of the cable connecting the weighing platform to the instrument connector (J BIL); fix the terminal connecting cables to the external devices following the instructions given in par. 3.8 on page 26, 3.9 on page 27 and 3.10 on page 33.
If the mains adapter is broken, it must be replaced by asking the company Società Coop. Bilanciai for a new one. Mention the code given in the section “Use and maintenance” of this handbook in par. 8.2 on page 142. The adapter can be replaced with an external generator, for example a battery. In this case, you have to ask the company Società Coop. Bilanciai for a three–pole female power supply connector, and to connect it as indicated in fig. 3.7.1 on page 24. – VEXT
