The Elemental Reiki course will guide you through the various frequencies of the energy symbols and techniques that you can use to improve and enrich your life.
Energy Body
Energy Body: Seven Chakras and Triple Soul
Seven Chakras Chakras are energy nodes in the body. The seven main chakras are aligned in an ascending column from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is associated with a certain color, multiple specific functions, an aspect of consciousness, a classical element, and other distinguishing characteristics. The chakras are thought to vitalize the physical body and to be associated with interactions of both a physical and mental nature. They are considered loci of life energy, or prana/chi/ki, which is thought to flow among them along pathways called nadis or meridians. Root Chakra: The base or root chakra, Muludhara, is related to security, survival and also to basic human potentiality. At the base of the spine, the root chakra is associated with the color red, the element of Earth, and the sense of smell. Sacral Chakra: The sacral chakra, Swadhisthanna, is related to emotion, sexuality and creativity. Below the naval, the sacral chakra is associated with the color orange, the element of Water, and the sense of taste. Solar Plexus Chakra: The solar plexus chakra, Manipura, is related to energy, assimilation and digestion. Below the sternum, the solar plexus chakra is associated with the color yellow, the element of Fire and the sense of sight. Heart Chakra: The heart chakra, Anahata, is related to love, equilibrium, and well-being. In the center of the chest, the heart chakra is associated with the color green, the element of Air, and the sense of touch. Throat Chakra: The throat chakra, Vishuddha, is said to be related to communication and growth, growth being a form of expression. At the bottom of the neck, the throat chakra is associated with the color of blue, the element of Spirit, and the sense of hearing. Third Eye Chakra: The Ajna Chakra, or third eye, is linked to time and awareness and of light. In the center of the forehead, the third eye chakra is associated with the color indigo/violet, and the sense of inner sight. Crown Chakra: The highest crown chakra is said to be the chakra of consciousness, the master chakra that controls all the others. At the top of the head, the crown chakra is associated with the color white and is our connection to the divine.

Triple Soul The Triple Soul represents all aspects of self that are not physical. Lower Self: The subconscious self where the emotions reside. This is the shadow and is the part that gathers and stores the prana or life force. The lower self is where the instinctive or animal mind resides. Middle Self: The conscious and rational self where reason and intellect reside. The middle self is also the superconscious where creativity and originality reside. The middle self bridges the reasoning mind to the divine. Higher Self: The god self, truly divine spark of our being. The higher self transcends time and space and communicates with Higher Powers and other Higher Selves. The truly miraculous occurs when the Triple Soul or Three Selves are in alignment. Aligning the Triple Souls The Ha Prayer This is a basic and essential piece of Feri Work. Its purpose is to keep the Three Souls properly aligned and the channel of communication clean and pure. Eventually this work becomes so integrated with you that you don't have to think about doing it, but just do it naturally and unconsciously. You can do this once or twice a day. We also do this before spiritual work and before magical work. Again, it becomes so natural and unconscious that we don't even realize that we are doing it. But first we do have to learn how to do it and work at it consciously. You should do this as a daily practice. The practice utilizes four-fold breathing. Four-fold breathing consists of breathing in for a four-count; holding for a four-count; breathing out for a four count; and holding for a final four count. Let us begin. Sit comfortably. Feel the energy all around you. Breathe comfortably and deeply. Think or say: "May all three souls be straight within me." Visualize the energy around you. Breathe in a four-fold breathe. As you breathe in, feel the breath charge the Body. Hold and feel the energy around you. As you breathe out, feel all the tension and stress in your Body breathe out with it. And as you hold, feel the energy swirling around dissolving all the muck you just released. Breathe in a four-fold breathe. As you breathe in, feel the breath charge the Fetch. Hold and feel the energy around you. As you breathe out, feel all the tension and stress in your Fetch breathe out with it. And as you hold, feel the energy swirling around dissolving all the muck you just released. Breathe in a four-fold breathe. As you breathe in, feel the breath charge the Shining Body. Hold and feel the energy around you. As you breathe out, feel all the tension and stress in your Shining Body breathe out with it. And as you hold, feel the energy swirling around dissolving all the muck you just released. Breathe in a four-fold breathe. As you breathe in, charge the breath will all of your love. Hold the breath and feel love and warmth fill you lungs. Tilt your head back as you breathe out and blow a breath of air upwards to your Sacred Dove. Feel your Sacred Dove, which you visualize as a ball of blue fire floating above your head. Flower Prayer Who is this flower above me? And what is the work of this God? I would know myself in all my parts.
Rite of Unbinding (Kala) This is a practice which is common to almost all lines of Feri. Different practitioners have varied it in the details, making it more or less complicated, but this is the basic method. To begin with, center yourself, using the Ha Prayer or any other simple method of your choice. Take a small cup or goblet and fill it with fresh cold water, the colder the better. Put the cup where you can easily reach it. (If you are doing this as part of a group, each person should have her own individual cup.) Breathe your intention for purification into an egg shape between the palms of your hands, breathing four breaths into the "egg" and visualizing it turning darker and more muddy with each breath. Crack the "egg" into the cup and say HA when you feel that it is full of the things you need purified. See the "egg" dissolve into the water, turning it dark and muddy; Chant MA over the water three times as you visualize that the water becomes filled with rainbow light, which dissolves the impurities. Empty the lungs completely of all air, and then breathe in deeply, completely filling them. Hold your breath. While holding your breath, drink the rainbow water, making sure to drain your cup completely. Swallow the water down in one gulp. Now, exhale. Feel the water going down your throat and accept its blessing. Rub your belly while saying positive things about yourself, praising yourself, comforting yourself, giving yourself strokes. Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself as you would your own child, gently and with love.
Chakra Balancing Meditation (Rose Meditation) by Rebecca Doolin To balance or "see" the condition of your chakras, I've found this meditation particularly helpful. Starting from your root, and after you've gotten yourself into whatever meditative relaxing position you like.... See your root chakra as a beautiful Red Rose bud, completely closed and as you visualize this on the in breath, see it....now on the out breath and slowly, see the rose blooming into full bloom and changing colors to a beautiful translucent rose color, the color of a mauve colored rose. Then breath back in, and see it slowly close again and change to the deep red bud rose again. Do this over and over repeatedly on the in and out breath as described until you feel satisfied. Trust me, you'll know when. Move onto the sacral chakra, on the in breath see your chakra as a Reddish-Orange bud rose and on the out breath see it blossom into a bright orange rose, the color of a healthy orange fruit. Again continue this process until you feel satisfied. The solar plexus starts as a soft almost white yellow rose bud on the in breath and as you breathe out see it blossom into a bright vibrant sunshine yellow. Again, continue. The heart chakra starts as a soft green, the baby green of early spring, rose bud and on the out breath blooms into a baby green with beautiful rose colored tips...once you get this one right in visualizing it usually has a HUGE calming effect. The throat chakra starts as a light sky blue rose bud and then on the out breath blooms into a deep blue cerulean color rose. See this one as particularly strong in its coloring on the out breath. This will help you to speak your own truth and needs to others. The third eye starts as a light amethyst colored rose bud and on the out breath turns into a deep purple color blossom and then back again to the amethyst color bud on the in breath. The crown starts as a beautiful white rose bud pristine and pure on the in breath, and on the out breath see it blossom out into a gorgeous silvery white, or gold if you're male, or rainbow colored if you prefer. If you do this a couple times a week and especially upon rising and going to bed, you will notice a change in your feelings each day. You can also learn to see your chakras this way. The troubled spots will just make themselves known to you either through seeing with your visualization, or through your intuition. Enjoy!
White Light Meditation This is a wonderful, recharging meditation. This is great for cleansing and recharging yourself after energy work. There are many different variations of this meditation. Sit or lie comfortably. Take a deep , slow breath in and slowly exhale out. With each breath in and out, allow your body to relax more, and more, and more. Let your body sink into the chair or floor. Focus on your Crown area and allow it to open to receive the energy from this ball of white light. As you open your Crown Chakra to receive this energy you feel completely at ease , completely safe. Draw down this white light energy into your forehead, your eyes, nose, cheeks, chin. Draw down this white light energy into your throat, shoulders, elbows, wrists, to each and every finger, Feel the energy in your fingertips right now. Feel it tingle with energy and excitement. Draw down the white light energy to your chest, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, into each and every toe. Feel the toes tingle as the energy fills them. Picture this white light energy filling up your entire body. You are the white light energy, and you will now expand yourself. With each breath in and out expand your white light energy to outside your body. Fill up the room, the building, the neighborhood, the city, the state, the country, the world, the universe. You have expanded throughout the entire galaxy! When you are ready to return , bring your energy back into the building, into your body. Allow yourself time to adjust once more to your physical form and when ready, open your eyes. wiggle your fingers and toes. Stretch both arms. overhead and take a big, deep breath in and slowly release again.
Grounding and Centering Meditation This is a quick grounding meditation. You should practice this to balance your energy, release anxiety, or any time you would “Count to 10.” Sit peacefully and relax. Let the ground or chair support you. Let your muscles go. You don't have to exert any effort to sit there. Take in an easy, deep breath...and let it out your mouth, parting your lips slightly as you exhale. Let your arms feel heavy, pulling down your shoulders. Breathe... Let that heavy feeling flow down your torso and legs, so you feel heavy and relaxed all the way down to your feet on the ground. Now picture and feel roots growing from your feet down into the ground. Just like a tree's roots...going down into the layers of cool dirt...growing around rocks...traveling further and further down into the earth. Let the roots grow as deeply as you wish. Now feel the healing, rhythmic energy of the earth itself flowing up through your roots...slowly traveling up...through your roots, up to your feet and quickly filling your entire body. Feel this positive, grounded, earth energy throughout your being. Take in a deep, cleansing breath... and release. When you are ready, open your eyes and know that this grounded energy will remain with you throughout your day.
Five Elements Five Elements . . . Man is made up of four elements and floats within the fifth. The four base elements are Earth, Water, Air and Fire, while the noble and mysterious Fifth Element is Spirit. Earth: Body, Shapes, Health and Physical Needs Water: Soul, Spirit, Empathy and Auras Air: Intellect, Logic, Technology and Design Fire: Emotion, Passion, Inspiration and Creation Spirit: Time, Dimensions, Raw Energy, Mystery
Earth
“The spiral of the Goddess represents the "mother" the grounding aspect of us all. Use this symbol to help slow down chakras that are spinning too fast or are way too open. This also helps with children with ADHD and those who are hyperactive. Place the symbol over the third eye for these conditions when doing a healing session. I have used it at times when I have been extremely nervous or upset as well to help calm myself down.” Rebecca Doolin Earth represents the hard, solid objects of the world. The most basic example of Earth is in a stone. Stones are highly resistant to movement or change, as is anything heavily influenced by Earth. In people, the bones, muscles and tissues are represented by Earth. Emotionally, Earth is predominantly associated with stubbornness, stability, physicality, and gravity. In the mind, it is confidence; and emotionally it is a desire to have things remain as they are; a resistance to change. When under the influence of this Earth mode or 'mood,' we are aware of our own physicality and sureness of action. Color: Green Season: Winter Direction: North Time: Night Sense: Smell
Air
“Three squiggly lines representing the breath of life. This symbol represents communication, new ideas, bringing a "freshness" to life when it is blocked. Use it to help with opening chakras when they are blocked, by blowing the symbol into the chakras. This symbol is good for those who have problems with the lungs, communication, or any form of writer's block, depression caused by boredom.” Rebecca Doolin Air or Wind represents things that grow, expand, and enjoy freedom of movement. Aside from air, smoke, and the like, Air can in some ways be best represented by the human mind. As we grow physically, we learn and expand mentally as well, in terms of our knowledge, our experiences, and our personalities. Air represents breathing, and the internal processes associated with respiration. Mentally and emotionally, it represents an 'open-minded' attitude and carefree feeling. It can be associated with will, elusiveness, evasiveness, benevolence, compassion, wisdom, and electricity. Color: Yellow Season: Spring Direction: East Time: Dawn Sense: Touch
Fire
“The lightning bolt of creation represents strength, power, and energy. Use this symbol to help with bringing one inner strength or physical strength to overcome afflictions or to get better from illnesses quickly.” Rebecca Doolin Fire represents the energetic, forceful, moving things in the world. Animals, particularly predators, capable of movement and full of forceful energy, are primary examples of Fire objects. Bodily, Fire represents our metabolism and body heat, and in the mental and emotional realms, it represents drive and passion. Fire can be associated with motivation, desire, intention, and an outgoing spirit. Color: Red Season: Summer Direction: South Time: Noon Sense: Sight
Water
“Two upside down triangles one inside of the other represents love, emotions, feelings, nurturing, and balance in times of change. Use this symbol to help with healings involving an emotional nature or to help balance a client who is having nerve or anxiety troubles. Good to help depression and a broken heart.” Rebecca Doolin Water represents the fluid, flowing, formless things in the world. Outside of the obvious example of rivers and the like, plants are also categorized under Water, as they adapt to their environment, growing and changing according to the direction of the sun and the changing seasons. Blood and other bodily fluids are represented by Water, as are mental or emotional tendencies towards adaptation and change. Water can be associated with emotion, defensiveness, adaptability, flexibility, suppleness, and magnetism. Color: Blue Season: Autumn Direction: West Time: Dusk Sense: Taste
Spirit
“The star with the circle surrounding it otherwise known as a Pentacle represents the oneness of the universe with man. It is all that we are, could be, and were. It is the never-ending cycle of life and death and rebirth. Use this symbol to heal any and all afflictions to do with a spiritual nature.” Rebecca Doolin Spirit or Aether represents those things beyond our everyday experience, particularly those things composed of pure energy. Atoms, their component particles, and atomic forces fall under this category, as do people in a higher state of consciousness. Bodily, Spirit represents spirit, thought, and creative energy. It represents our ability to think and to communicate, as well as our creativity. It can also be associated with power, creativity, spontaneity, inventiveness, nuclear reactions. Spirit is of particular importance as the highest of the elements. In martial arts, particularly in fictional tales where the fighting discipline is blended with magic or the occult, one often invokes the power of the Spirit to connect to the quintessential creative energy of the world. A warrior properly attuned to the Spirit can sense his surrounding and act without thinking, and without using his physical senses. Color: Black and White Season: All and None Direction: Center, or All Directions Time: All or None Sense: All or None (Hearing)
Additional Symbols Three additional symbols were added by Rebecca Doolin. You may consider these symbols Master symbols if you like. I find these symbols tend to work well on people or intentions. I use the five elemental symbols in all my practice, but find these three symbols work best on people. This is not to say you can not use these symbols on objects. Anything you need to pour comfort, love, or growth into can benefit from using these symbols. I just find they work best with people’s energies. For example, both the Earth symbol and the Comfort symbol can be used for grounding. I find the Earth symbol works better for grounding a space, or protecting a space; whereas the Comfort symbols I better at grounding a person’s energies. Above all, trust your intuition. I can not tell you the number of times I went to draw a symbol and found myself drawing another symbol in its place. Or I may have added a symbol here or there in an attunement. I trust that there is a reason for it, and if I am meant to know the reason, I will be shown.
Comfort
“This symbol is for the throat and heart chakras exclusively. Use it to heal emotional troubles of all kinds from mental illness to the blues. It will give comfort to those in grief and help the heart clear itself from any blockages or baggage it may be holding.” “…comfort symbol is the comfort rune times two…” Rebecca Doolin Comfort is an awesome symbol for bringing balance. Like Earth, it is very grounding; but they are used very differently. Earth uses Yin energy to ground; for somebody that already has to much Yin energy, this is bad. Comfort grounds by balancing the energies in a person; regardless of what type of imbalance they have; Comfort will ground them. Earth is good for grounding objects, Comfort is good for grounding people. Earth and Comfort are the only two symbols that if you bisect them horizontally or vertically, the two halves are the same.
Growth
“This symbol is for the lower three chakras exclusively. Use it to promote self-esteem, strength in one's own abilities, and to give umph! to the frightened. It is very good for those who are having menstrual troubles and those who are pregnant to give a healthy pregnancy.” “…the growth rune looks sort of like a tree…” Rebecca Doolin The tree analogy is a good one. Trees are the ultimate expression of nature. Their roots deep down into the Earth (Yin) and the branches reach up into Heaven (Yang). Trees are in many ways ageless. For even when one tree dies, the following year sprouts will shoot up where the old tree stood. Growth can be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. All life seeks growth. Growth is a very powerful and complex concept. Do not limit your ideas of growth as just getting bigger. Remember, bigger isn’t always better.
Eternal Love
“This symbol is for the last two chakras six and seven exclusively. Use it to bring the "oneness" of all things to a person, to open their eyes to the spiritual world, to feel divine love, to help with sensing gifts of the spirit or to bring ecstatic love.” “…the eternal love to reconnect one to spirit is the eternity symbol of the Egyptians and a heart centered over it, to symbolize the heart of eternity, aka the universal healing energies always being in the heart chakra (the door of Reiki) or centered from compassion.” Rebecca Doolin Love is another vastly complex concept. Everybody knows it, but nobody can really define it. The Universe is filled with the love of the Goddess. All of her gifts to us are done so out of love. She shares part of herself out of love. She does not set Herself above us to be worshipped on a pedestal, She is with us all of the time - in us, around us, a part of us. You can use this symbol anytime you want to connect yourself or another to that Universal Love. There are few better feelings then being filled with Universal Love.
Using the symbols Elemental Symbols have many uses. They can be used in any sort of energy work to invoke that elemental power, including chakra work, shields, cleansing a room, and charging crystals. Elemental Reiki Before beginning any hands on treatment, draw the symbols over the persons body. Start with Spirit at the head and work your way down the body with Earth, Air, Fire, then Water. Next start working on the Chakras. Start by applying each of the three Master symbols to the appropriate chakra. Some chakras require an extra energy treatment to get it spinning and cleaned out just right. See the section on Chakra Work. Then perform any hand positions you were taught. Trust your instincts. When you get to the feet, sit on the floor and visualize all of the clients residual junk flowing out through you and into the ground. Do not keep the muck inside yourself. Usually I finish the treatment with the Spirit symbol to seal the work. Distance Work The only difference between distance work is you need a proxy to stand in for the absent client. You can use anything to represent the client. I recommend a picture, but a stuffed animal or even a rug could work. If you aren’t able to use a picture, write the person’s name and address on a piece of paper and tack, tape, or attach it in some way to the proxy. Set up a mutual time when you can perform the work and make sure you account for time zone differences. I don’t recommend sending energy work into the past or future, but some practitioners are extremely capable of this action. Start the healing with 3 claps. These claps represent Past, Present, and Future. You are signifying that you are going to transcend time and space. These are the same claps you start all attunements with. These three claps serve the same purpose as Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen in Usui Reiki. Now you can start the energy work as normal, simply perform the healing or attunement on the proxy.
Chakra Work Elemental Reiki works well on the chakras. You can visualize the color of the element or the color of the chakra when applying a symbol to chakra. Sounds work best when the recipient is resonating the sound in their body while you treat the chakra.. Chakra

Cleansing a Room To use the Elemental Symbols to cleanse an area either before or after energy work start in the center of the space. Here is a process that woks: Draw the Spirit symbol on the ground in blue fire. Face the north and draw the Earth symbol in blue fire. Turn to the East. Draw the Air symbol in blue fire. Turn to the South. Draw the Fire symbol in blue fire. Turn the West. Draw the Water symbol in blue fire. Turn to North and then face the center. Draw the Spirit symbol in the air above the center. Now see all six symbols burning, see the fires growing more intense. Close your hands as the fire grows more intense. When you feel the fire is at its peak and no more can be contained, open your hands an release the fire into the space. Feel the blue fire wash over the space, burning away any gunk in the space. I usually see bad energies burned away as black smoke. The fire is so complete, even the black smoke is burned away into nothing. When there is no more black smoke, release the fire and allow it to return to the source.
Shielding Elemental Reiki symbols can be used to build personal shields. I use them as my personal shield. The process is similar to cleansing a space; however, the intention is different. Visualize your aura. Draw the Spirit symbol in the aura under your feet. I usually draw the symbols in blue fire. Draw the Earth symbol in your aura to the north. Draw the Air symbol in your aura to the east. Draw the Fire symbol in your aura to the south. Draw the Water symbol in your aura to the west. Draw the Spirit symbol in your aura above your head. (Note: the directions do not have to be exact. If you do know where true north is, just designate one way is “North” and go from there.) Visualize the six symbols burning bright in your aura. See the color of the fire bleed into your aura, transforming your aura to the color of the symbols. Visualize your shield spinning in all directions, with the symbols remaining fixed in location. The color spins so fast that it become a solid energy field. This particular shield is special because it is a positive energy frequency. As such, only negative energies are stopped by your shield. All positive energies are allowed to pass through unhindered. And since you set the intent of the shield, the energy would have to be positive from your point of view. Negative energies are fried on contact with the shield.
Crystals Using crystals in Reiki is very common practice. This outlines the process of preparing your crystals. Cleansing the stones While Reiki energy can cleanse stones, I think you should use a different method. So to cleanse, rest the stones in clear cool water. Allow them to sit in the sunlight or moonlight for one hour. Empowering the stones You can do a general empowerment, or a specific elemental or chakra empowerment. For a general empowerment, draw each of the five elemental symbols over the crystals in the color green, starting with Spirit. Then place your hands over the crystals and project Reiki energy into the symbols charging them up. Repeat the process only drawing the symbols in silver, and then again in gold. Seal the stones with the Spirit symbol in white. To charge the stone for a specific element, draw the elemental symbol over the stone in the color of the element nine times. Then place your hands over the stone and project Reiki into the symbol. Seal the stone with the Spirit symbol in white. To charge a stone for a specific chakra, draw the Spirit symbol in white, then draw the Elemental symbol that corresponds with the chakra in the color of the chakra. Resonate the chakra healing sound over the stone as you project Reiki energy into it. Project as much Reiki into the stone as you feel it will hold. Seal the stone with Spirit symbol in white. If you are going to give the stone to a person, you should place the stone on top of a picture or a piece of paper with their full name written on it. Their signature would also work well. Charge the stone as you would normally. Using the Stone You can use the stones to focus and magnify Reiki energy by holding them in your hands while performing Reiki. You can place the proper stone on each chakra and perform the Reiki treatment as usual. You can set in crystal grids or any other use of crystals you are familiar with. I personally have a special crystal that I use to focus my intent and start the Reiki flowing.
Attunements by Rebecca Doolin To Pass on the Elemental Reiki attunement: 1. Have the person sit in front of you with their hands in Gassho (prayer) position. 2. Clap hands together three times. 3. Draw the spirit symbol over the crown of the head. Send Reiki and state aloud your intention to attune this person to the Master Elemental Level. 4. Go behind the person and draw all 5 elemental symbols starting with spirit, down their back while mentally asking the Universe for assistance in the attunement. 5. Return to the front of the person. "Open" the aura by visualizing their aura as a closed curtain that you mentally open by drawing it back and around them. Draw all 5 Elemental symbols down their front starting with the spirit symbol. 6. Open the person's hands like a book and draw the Comfort symbol on each palm three times: once in green, once in silver, and once in white. Do this on each palm and for the Growth symbol and then the Eternal Love symbol the same way. 7. Close the person's hands and send Reiki into their hands saying "healing in every touch". 8. Kneel in front of the person. Repeat step 6 on the tops of each foot. when done say "healing in every step." 9. Stand and visualize closing the aura like a curtain as you seal the symbols into their aura. When finished say" by the earth, air, fire, water, and spirit this attunement is complete."
