Working at Heights
1.
Title: Procedure for ensuring safety for working at Height
2.
Scope: This procedure is applicable for working at height in any location where a fall could cause injury, permanent disability or death, unless suitable precautions are in place.
3.
Authority and Responsibility: I. This procedure is prepared by Manager – – HSSE, HSSE, reviewed & approved by General Manager – – Construction & Projects, General Manager – – LDZ operations & AGM - HSSE and released by MR MR – – EHSMS EHSMS II. This procedure shall be practiced by all GGCL employees, contractors and contract employees, GGCL vendors at GGCL premises as well GGCL work sites including at 3rd party premises.

Procedural Steps:

Activity Steps The work to be carried out at height at any location is evaluated for potential injury due to fall of a person or fall of object from f rom height and compliance requirements are identified as applicable.

Prior to start of the job at height, site visit is carried out for following purpose:

Carry out Site Specific Risk assessment (Ref. Doc. AIG 401) 401) Select the methodology for safe completion of the job (Refer Annexure I, Hierarchy of Measures for WAH jobs & Job specific working method) Identify control measures/safety precautions specific to selected work method and site conditions

Working at Heights Permit to Work is obtained (Refer SCO 301 – – SCO coverage matrix) from authorised person ensuring

In case of non routine “Working at Height” activity, selection of Working at Height method, its planning and Risk Assessment is finalized in co ordination with HSSE department and its procedure is approved by functional GM / AGM for the work to b be e carried out in pr presence esence of designated authorised person

On completion of work, permit is closed out after ensuring safe condition of site.
