Introduction This document is a supplement to the BP GIS 30-851 Specification for Fire and Gas Detection Rev B02 dated 12th of September 2014. The purpose of this document is to identify specific requirements for modifications, deletions and additions to the GIS 30-851 applicable to the West Nile Delta Onshore Gas Development
Project. Where a paragraph in the parent document is required to be amended, modified or deleted, it will be identified in this document. The clauses in Section 2 Supplementary Data outline the specific project requirements to be added, modified or deleted. General Technical Requirements
6.1 General
Modify 6.1.f. 2. Addressable, using a recognised industry protocol for Fire Detection. Modify 6.1.i. Protocols supported shall be indicated in the instrument data sheets. Delete 6.1.l. 2. NEMA 4X in conformance to NEMA 250 for outdoor use. 6.1.l. 4. NEMA 1 in conformance to NEMA 250 for indoor use.
6.2 Hazardous Area Classification Delete 6.2.a. 4. FM, UL or CSA certification or other NRTL certified device subject to approval by Company responsible engineer. Modify 6.2.b. In order to prevent electrical apparatus, including electronic Fire and Gas Detector instrumentation, from becoming a source of ignition in (potential) gas or dust atmospheres, protective measures shall be taken, based on the hazardous area classification of the particular area in which the electrical apparatus are being installed. For the electrical apparatus with protection type certified for use in explosive atmospheres the appropriate safety documentation shall be provided. All field detectors shall be certified for use in Zone 1, Gas Group IIB, and Temperature Class T3 hazardous area in compliance with the requirements of ATEX directive 94/9/EC. The detector shall bear the relevant hazardous area compliance mark and certificate number for the purposes of traceability. Wherever possible, all field detectors shall be certified explosion proof (Ex d). The hazardous area requirements shall be specified on the detector datasheet.
6.3 Marking Add 6.3.d. In addition to 6.3 a, and b, each field mounted detector shall be identified by a traffolyte nameplate supplied by the Instrument Installation Contractor, giving the tag number and service. This nameplate shall be engraved with minimum of 13mm letters with red / white / red (white lettering on a red background) for Fire & Gas duties, and be fixed to an adjacent permanent structure or purpose made brackets.
