Description
PDS Raceway Modelling Basics SET ACTIVE TRAY PARAMETERS 1. From Runtime Menu >> Click on Palette
2. Click on Active Tray Parameters >> Select (note, if there is a previously selected tray parameters, click on CLEAR first before clicking on SELECT)
Select tray parameter to use by choosing from the list, highlight then click on Green Check
3. The active tray parameters will now be displayed, click on Select. The selected tray is now ready for use.

SET SYSTEM 1. Set up System for tray to be modelled, Click on Active System >> Select System from List >> Click on Green Check
SET ACTIVE ONE LINE TYPE 1. If there are other Active One Line Type to use in the project, Click on Active One Line Type >> Select from List >> Click on Green Check
START MODELING 1. From Design Menu >> Click on Palette

2. The System will now prompt you for the first data point to start the raceway model
3. Set your first data point by using any of the following methods: a. Key-in Exact Coordinates: Click on Construct Point >> Select Move To >> Click on either E-W-N-S-Elev one at a time and then key-in coordinate at the command line. As you key-in the coordinates, the new values will be displayed accordingly. Click on Yellow Accept Button to exit from Construct Point Form >> Click on Yellow Accept Button again to set this point as the data point.
b. Move to Point If there is a point that can be used as a reference point (ex: a piperack or structure, make sure that the model is attached), Click on MOVE TO >> Point, middle button click to the particular point and then left click to accept >> Click on Yellow Accept Button to set this as the data point.

c. Construct Point from a Reference Point You can also start to “Construct Point” from a reference point by clicking on Construct Point button >> click on Move To >> Point, middle button click to the particular point and then left click to accept. Toggle Move To >> Move >> Click on Up, Down, E-W-N-S >> Key-in values at the command line >> Click on Yellow Accept button to exit from Construct Point form >> Click on Yellow Accept button again to set this point as the data point.
4. The System will now prompt for the Next Data Point. Set the data point as you did in previous step 3a, 3b, 3c or just click on Move >> E-W-N-S-Up or Down >> Key-in distance. Hitting the Enter Key after each data point placed, the system will draw the one-line tray. This will allow you to see the tray route. Click on Yellow Accept Button when done to finish route

When tray routing is completed and after hitting the yellow accept button, the next step is to accept the current tray crosssection orientation or reset (right mouse button) to rotate
6. Accept the tray rotation by using the Left-Mouse button click. The system will now propagate to graphically show the raceway tray.
PLACE MANUAL FITTINGS 1. There are some tray components that have to be placed manually such as Tees, crosses and etc. Use the “Place Manual Fittings” Command to place such items
2. Set the Active Point where you want to place the fitting. Click on “Set Active Point” button, middle button on “RCP”, left button and then click on Yellow Accept button.

3. Select the fitting to place by clicking on and selecting from Type, Subtype, Spec1 and or Spec2.
Type = Straight, Elbow or Wye
Type = Straight Subtype = Left or Right Reducer Spec2 = select smaller size tray
Type = Elbow Subtype = Inside Vertical, Outside Vertical or Horizontal (Spec 2 need not be set since there are no reducing elbow) Type = Wye Subtype = Horizontal Spec2 = blank (equal tee or wye), Spec2 = smaller size (reducing tee or wye)
4. Set the placement point, rotation and etc (see next page), then click on Yellow Accept Button to place the fitting.

SET ACTIVE OLT (One Line Type) PARAMETERS In case you need to set the active one line type parameters by getting the OLT parameters of an existing line, Click on Set Active One Line Type Parameter button >> Middle click on an existing tray segment >> Left Click to Accept
This is useful if say, the OLT have been set to other settings and you need to continue routing the tray from the Tee branch of an existing line.
MODIFY OLT (One Line Type) PARAMETERS 1. To modify the existing one line type parameter, from the Modify Menu >> Modify Element Commands >> Click Annotate Element button
2. Click on the raceway element (in this case, middle click on the tray segment and then Left click to accept.

3. The tray one-line type parameters will be shown, to modify >> click on Clear >> Select >> Choose from the tray specs >> Green Check >> Select >>Green Check
4. The tray one-line type parameters has been modified and the graphics will be as shown below:

Note that the “Manually Placed” Tee parameters have not changed. Modify the Tee by >> Edit/Insert Manual Fitting >> Middle button on Tee >> Left Click to Accept >> Click on Yellow Accept Button

MODIFY GROUPS A group is a temporary association of Raceway elements in your model. Once you have defined a group of Raceway elements using this command, you can manipulate the group as a whole or in part. 1. From Modify Menu >> Modify Group Commands >> Define Group
2. Click on Create >> on the EE Element Type, select from list or use Select All >> on the Graphic Method, select from list >>Click Yellow Accept button >> Follow Prompts >> EE Element Types — Displays all available element types available for inclusion in or deletion from a group. Types include onelines, three-lines, RCPs, drop points, to equipment, and all annotation. You must choose at least one element type when creating, adding elements to, or dropping elements from a group. EE Method— This list displays optional restrictions for the items selected in the EE Element Types list. Graphic Method— Displays the available methods for selecting group elements. You will use these methods to identify elements for group creation, insertion into groups, or deletion from groups.
Example: Graphic Method = Fence Block
Choose from the different command buttons to modify items belonging to the Defined Group.
