ECONOMIC SURVEY La Trinidad Livestock Entreprenuers Cooperative (NAME OF COOPERATIVE)
BACKGROUND: The 1st Municipal Livestock Congress held on March 2, 2017 at Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant (SVHR) conducted by the Office of the Municipal Agriculture (OMAg) was participated by farmers and interested individuals from the different barangays. It was then that the La Trinidad Livestock Entrepreneurs Association (LaTLEA) was formed and set of officers were elected. Series of meetings the group temporary office is located the Office of the Municipal Km. 5, Lawhere Trinidad, Benguet and By-laws were beingat crafted, upon approval of itsAgriculture, ConstitutionPico, and By-laws, the group was registered at DOLE on May 4, 2017 with Registration Number: CAR-2017-05225. It was also accredited as rural- based based farmers’ organization with the Department of Agriculture, Agriculture, Regional Field Office, Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-RFO-CAR) on August 31, 2017. 2017 . With an initial members of sixteen (16) during its existence, with the supervision of the OMAg head Ms. Felicitas Ticbaen and the headship of the elected president, Mr. Juanito D. Angeles, the group now has ninety one hundred twenty four (124) members as o off this writing. The first months were indeed a challenging point as to how will the group be sustained but with the effort of the officers and LGU, selected members were given piglets and are now having training on hug raising. Itik and freerange chicken were also distributed to selected members.
RATIONALE: The Livestock Cooperative aims to directly answer community needs, create more job and will provide quality qu ality of meat products. It also aims to create an easy e asy access to market for its members. We see that there is a need of Livestock Cooperative for the municipality because it is the center of commerce among thirteen (13) municipalities of Benguet, and according to the Department of Agriculture 97% of hogs are coming from the low lands. Having a Livestock Cooperative can address the demands for meat products. Our goals will be achieve in a long run but starting it today and undergoing thru educational trainings of officers and members will help us achieve better.
