Human activities in agriculture, industry, and everyday life have had major effects on the land, vegetation, streams, ocean, air, and even outer space. But individuals and communities are doing things to help protect Earth’s resources and environments.

CCC: Systems and System Models - A system can be described in terms of its components and their interactions. Lesson objective(s):  Students will research and obtain information about potential ways they can personally contribute to the protection of Earth’s resources and environment. Students will use their knowledge from gathered research to complete a write up &

 presentation on an environmental project of their choice.

 

Differentiation strategies to meet diverse learner needs: EL: Students will be given visuals and may use Flipgrid to share their presentation with us verbally. Allowing my students to present their presentation verbally saves the time and

frustration of writing a paragraph. SPED : Students will be allowed to share their video or pictures and explain their project

verbally as it plays. Doing this will allow them to share their content without having to write an explanation. Gate:  Students will be asked to come up with a class activity or project that we could do together to protect the Earth’s resources and environment and share their idea in a video or  paper. Google Forms is an easy and useful tool that provides teachers with the results right away. By using Forms, F orms, I can see each students’ response, or I can view the whole class and see if there are similar responses.

3-4 topics and choose one topic of their liking and document their experience. - Students Students will will need need to videotape videotape or take pictures pictures of their experience experience and and do a bri brief ef  paragraph writing about what they did and how their project is helping the environment. - Using a blogging blogging format format will allow all student studentss to share share their their experi experiences ences with with the the rest rest of the class. They are allowed to get as creative as they feel necessary to complete the task. But there presentation must be at least 3 minutes. * ClassDojo ClassDojo * Flipgrid Flipgrid *Students can use ClassDojo or Flipgrid because they enjoy using these platforms and it  provides them the opportunity to share their *Their written part of the assignment will be turned in on Google Classroom. Knowing this content will not only benefit humans, human s, but will also support planet sustainability & the protection of ecosystems around the world.

 

EVALUATION  Summative Assessment: Students will complete their Environmental Project and upload their  presentation to Class Dojo or Flipgrid.

We will will be using these technologica technologicall platforms platforms so all students students can see each each other's other's work work and because it provides them with the opportunity to use platforms they enjoy. I will will be be gradi grading ng stu studen dents ts'' work work bas based ed off off of of a rubric I rubric I have created.

Rubric :

Student’s environmental reports and presentations will be graded based ba sed on the rubric I have created. The rubric provides students with an idea of what they will need to do to receive a specific score in each area. Students will be assessed based on their research, documentation, written report, and presentation. This assignment requires students to research an environmental topic of their choice and apply their knowledge to create a project of their own. By doing this, students will show me what they learned about a bout protecting our Earth’s resources and environment.
