Duties of Welding Inspector Inspection Before Welding.  Ensure that Documents such as approved Drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and ITP are available.  Check welder Qualification.  Ensure that Welding Equipment is calibrated and/or in good condition.  Check the base metal and ensure that Mill Test Certificate (MTC) is available.  Check Welding Consumables and ensure that Mill Certificate is available.  Ensure that dedicated tools and tackles are being used for stainless and alloy steel.  Ensure to carry all the welding Inspection tools such as Multi purpose welding Gauge, Hi-Lo Gauge, Taper Gauge, Measuring tape, Inspection Mirror, Pen Torch, Pyrometer or temperature crayon and Tong Tester etc....  Carry out fit-up Inspection to ensure that Bevel angle, root gap, root face and dimensions are in accordance with WPS and Drawing.  Check proper cleaning of the fit-up and ensure that it is free from rust, oil or grease.  Ensure that proper wind shield is provided.  Ensure that proper Preheating is done and check the preheat temperature if required.

Inspection During Welding.       

Check Welding Parameter that is current, volt and travel speed. Ensure that correct consumables are being used. Ensure that each pass is being cleaned before depositing the next pass. Ensure that pre-heat and inter-pass temperature is being maintained. Ensure that proper ventilation is provided to escape the fumes and gas. Carryout root Inspection before closing the root pass. Check and Control distortion due to weld shrinkage.

Inspection After Welding.  Carry out Visual Inspection.  Offer the Welded joints for Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) and Hardness test if required.  Offer the joints for Non Destructive Test (NDT) and Positive Material Identification (PMI) as required.  If defect is found in NDT, carry out the repair activities.  Re-offer the joint for NDT.  Offer the penalty joints for NDT.  Maintain all the records.

GHAZLAN PP-1 HYDRO TEST PACKAGE DETAILS:Item No 7 : As per ISO drawing the test limit the nozzle flange to end of the line but physically construction is up to the check valve flange only the contractor should clearly mentioned test limit, and left over spool should be tested later with another test package. Item No 11: The line in the attached line designation table is not match with the line to be Hydro Test. Item No 14: Latest weld summary sheets should be attached in the packages. The one which submitted is without client signature. Item No 15: RT Report – Reviewer signature is not available. Item No 22: Flange joint report should be complete. Item No 26: This package is not attached with pre-Hydro test punch list, CAT should do a walkthrough of this line and prepare punch list with ‘A’ & ‘B’ items and should attach this list with this package. Note : please don’t submit the incomplete package for review and approvals.

COMMENTS SAPLU has reviewed the Hydro-Test Package # 001 for Al-Wusta for the Line 24””-P-0101, 0102 & 0109-6CS1P1 located at Al-Wusta and found the following comments. . 1. The Contractor should submit the valid Calibration certificate for Pressure gauges and Relief valve prior to Pressure testing. 2. Submit the water test certificate, which is going to be used for Hydro test. 3. All welding joints shall be exposed during the testing. 4.
