AFTERMATH: The 2nd Company of the Dutch battalion led the attack and encountered forward elements of II. Bataillon at the village of Zevenbergschen Hoek, approximately five kilometers south of Moerdijk. A Dutch flanking maneuver that threatened to cut off the  Fallschirmjäger forced the Germans to withdraw from the village. However, the Dutch attack was stopped north of the village, as they were unable to advance in the face of heavy fire over the open ground around the German position at Moerdijk. On May 13, elements of 9. Panzerdivision Panzerdivision reached the bridges at Moerdijk en route to Rotterdam. On May 14, Rotterdam was bombed and the Dutch armed forces surrendered that evening, although fighting continued in Zeeland through May 17.
