INTRODUCTION DSP units are designed specifically for easy maintenance and installation for medium and large-sized air conditioning systems for commercial and residential applications such as homes, stores, shops, villas, restaurants, commercial complexes, offices, laboratories, theaters, showrooms, etc. These ducted split units can be used for cooling or heating (heat pump optional). The units consists of two sections: the evaporator part (PAH- unit or CM-unit) and the condenser part (DSP-unit) of matching size.

This series is available in a capacity range of (65 to 1967) nominal MBH at 50 Hz and (75 to 2195) nominal MBH at 60 Hz.

Quite Operation DSP units are constructed and engineered with noise reducing performance as the first consideration (low noise mounted fans are used, foam or fiberglass insulation for the outdoor unit and compressors are mounted on vibration isolators mounting for the compressors).

CM-Type Units are considered to be of the "Ceiling Model" type. It is designed for concealed ceiling installation above the false ceiling with ducted supply and free return air distribution system. Units of this type consist of a coil, fan and filter.

Capacities to Fit Requirements A large production line of DSP units with different construction and capacities are available. Wide Range of Indoor Units Types The condensing units of this series could be connected to a wide range of indoor units to match all client space requirements. Casing Heavy gauge galvanized steel casing coated with weatherproof, polyester powder electrostatic paint, oven-baked to ensure maximum gloss and hardness. Compressor The high efficiency low noise, hermetically sealed, refrigerant gas-cooled motor used is in line with PETRA's product reliability and efficiency. (Suitable for cooling and heat pump application). Coils Coils are designed to deliver their respective duties with optimum performance in all design conditions. They are manufactured from seamless copper tubes mechanically expanded into aluminum fins. All coils are air pressure tested at 450 Psi, under water to avoid leakage. They also undergo dry chemical cleaning after manufacturing for optimum system cleanness. Direct-Drive Fans All condenser fans are of the axial type, Sickle – shape blades statically and dynamically balanced selected for optimum efficiency and for maximum sound power reduction. Fan blades are driven by external rotor motor type and protected by wire guard made from steel coated with electrostatic polyester powder coating-oven backed. Fan Motor All fans motors are characterized as being highly efficient, maintaining longer life and better performance in all conditions.

Common Features (for CM & PAH) Coils Coils are manufactured from seamless copper tubes mechanically expanded into aluminum fins. All coils are air pressure tested at 450 Psi, under water to avoid leakage. They also undergo dry chemical cleaning after manufacturing for optimum system cleanness. Fans Units are provided with double width, double inlet(DWDI) forward curved centrifugal fans. The fans have a V-belt drive with a variable pitch pulley (for fan motors with 5.5kW and less only). The fans are statically and dynamically balanced, to ensure quiet operation and smooth performance.

Motors Motors are of the totally enclosed induction type, with fan motor assembly placed on a floating base with a flexible connection at the fan casing interface. The base itself is mounted on rubber in sheer vibration isolators to eliminate noise and vibration transmission to buildings. All motors are highly efficient single speed, four pole, induction type, totally enclosed air-cooled, squirrel-cage type, internal thermal current protected and with class "F" insulation. Filters CM models are provided with a 1.0” thick Aluminum flat filter PAH models are provided with a 2.0” thick pleated flat filter. Drain Pan All the units are provided with a heavy gauge zinc coated galvanized steel drain pan with a drain connection from one side. The drain pan is insulated on the underside with rubber foam insulation to prevent condensation, for PAH units the drain pan is mounted on insulated channel base to facilitate coil sliding. Insulation All the CM units are internally lined with 1.0inch thick fiberglass insulation for the coil and fan sections and 2 inch injected foam insulation for PAH units.

Casing CM-Type All units are constructed of heavy gauge galvanized steel coated with weatherproof, polyester powder electrostatic paint, ovenbaked to ensure maximum gloss and hardness(optional). PAH Type All the units are constructed of high quality grade formed metal profiles with penta- post frames for rigid construction. The units are available with double skin construction and coated with weatherproof, polyester powder electrostatic paint, oven-baked to ensure maximum gloss and hardness (optional).

Unit Size Selection: Using the Correction Multiplier table to correct for altitude, the required capacities will be: = Required Capacity / Correction Multiplier Corrected Capacity a. Cooling Capacity = 98/0.985 = 99.5 MBH b. Sensible Capacity = 75/0.985 = 76.14 MBH From the performance tables for cooling data on page 27, model DSP 105 + CM38 is the closest selection to the required data. a. Capacities: = 100.2 MBH Total capacity Sensible capacity = 77.3 MBH b. Indoor unit fan selection: 1. Determine the Evaporator Coil Face Velocity [From the general data table on page 6, find the evaporator coil area to be 7.6 ft2]. 2. Coil Face Velocity = Required airflow rate [CFM]/Coil area [ft2] = 3800/7.6 = 500 FPM 3. Fan selection: - From the indoor unit filter and coil pressure drop on page 37, determine the pressure drop on the filter and coil at a face velocity of 395 FPM: Filter pressure drop = 0.07 inch of water Coil pressure drop (for 4-rows, 10 fins) = 0.46 inch of water - Calculate total fan static pressure drop as follows: Total Fan Static Pressure Drop = Given External Static Pressure + Filter and Coil Pressure Drop = 0.3 + 0.07 + 0.46 = 0.83 inch of water - From the general data table on page 6, find fan models for CM 38 to be "PETRA 7”. - From the fan curves, with an air volume of 3800 CFM find the following : a) Find fan dynamic pressure drop at the specified airflow rate to be [0.26 inch of water]. b) Calculate the total fan pressure drop to be: Total Fan Pressure Drop = Total Fan Static Pressure Drop + Dynamic Fan Pressure Drop = 0.83 + 0.26 = 1.09 inch of water c) Entering fan curve using (airflow rate of [3800 CFM] and total fan pressure drop [1 inch of water] find the following data: Fan speed (710 RPM) Absorbed Power (0.52 kW) The motor kW can be obtained by adding power connection (i.e. 20%), so: 0.52 * 1.20 = 0.624 kW = 0.75 kW (from the standard motors) Sound Pressure Level: From CM sound power values on page 34, the sound power for CM 38 unit.
