Presenting examples/Instances of the new lesson (Explore)
Our experience with Earth is limited to its surface. •Yet Earth has a complicated interior. •Earth is characterized by… – An An internally generated magnetic field. – A layered interior •Solid and liquid layers. – A gaseous envelope. •i.e. atmosphere
Earth’s Components oEarth’s surface = ~ 30% land, ~70% water ounlike any other known planet oHydrosphere = includes oceans, lakes, seas, rivers, & groundwater oCryosphere = glaciers, snow, and sea ice
Distribute a reading material to each group Have students answer the questions using what they have read.
Summative test
Present their answers to the class
Earth’s surface is not flat; it has topography oIgnoring oceans, Earth’s surface is dominated by two distinct elevations: o

Answer a 20 item test about the earth
Although there are thousands of minerals in Earth, there are only about 20 common minerals. The same mineral found in different parts of the world will always look the same and will have a characteristic crystal form and a consistent chemical formula. Minerals can be identified in rocks by a process of elimination. A variety of features can be used to identify specific minerals Complete the partially completed concept map, per group give out the worksheets

V. REMARKS VI. REFLECTION No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who scored below 80% Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson No. of learners who continue to require remediation Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these work? What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve? What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
