Forged Lowers 0% Blanks

$

Forging is the process of heating metal, in our case Aluminum, Brass and Copper, to a moldable temperature, and then using precision machined dies to forge parts to a near net shape. This process does not change the grain structure of the metal, resulting in stronger parts. When compared to machining bar stock, forged parts are already in near net shape, which reduces the cycle time required to machine the part, and gives our clients more capacity on their machining, and reduces freight time and scrap costs, ultimately reducing their cost. When compared to mold casting, which is the melting of the metal and pouring of the liquid metal into molds, forging is superior in strength - in most cases 15% stronger, and is porosity free which is ideal for cosmetic surface requirements. The process begins with only the finest extruded raw materials, usually round stock, however, more flexibility with our mills have allowed us to design custom shapes to be extruded, reducing the overall forging cost along with supporting more complex designs. The stock is cut to length on one of five saws based on part requirements, and then is transferred into the forge ovens, where aluminum stock is heated to between 800 to 900 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on which alloy is being processed. We then forge the parts using precision-machined closed die forging presses resulting in a perfectly dimensioned forging. Parts move from here to various trimming, heat-treating, washing, and finishing processes, and then to shipping or to machining or polishing. The final result is stronger parts, with less waste, and lower cost. Watch this video to see how blanks are forged. http://www.anchorharvey.com/the_process.html

UT Arms 80% Billet AR-15 Lower Receiver

$154.99

Each lower is fully CNC machined from a 15 lb 7075-T6 aluminum billet on a CNC horizontal machining center at an ISO 9001 certified factory. No highly stressed and inaccurate forgings are used. Every surface of the lowers is machined. The lower maintains close tolerances on all features to ensure a perfect part every time. The magazine well is EDM machined out to ensure no mismatch from milling and broaching. The magazine well also had a much larger flare than a typical forged receiver for quicker more reliable reloading. Finally, the lower receivers are tested for dimensional accuracy on a Zeiss UPMC Ultra CMM. AUTHOR: GARY SALISBURY

CNC10 10% Lower "Paperweight"

$250.00

The AR-10™ shoots a .308 cal round which is much more powerful than an AR15 .223 round. The AR-10™ is very rare compared to the AR-15, so you can imagine finding the solid model file of the AR-10 would be even more of a challenge, since there are only a few manufactures of .308 cal AR type rifles. I used an Armalite AR-10 receiver to take my measurements from, so the model I made will accept modified M14 mags. M14 mags are much more expensive compared to the FAL mags, but since Armalite uses modified M14 mags in their AR-10's, I thought I'd do the same instead of having to redesign the receiver to accept FAL mags.

416 Clone 11% Lower - GROUP BUY

$380.00

I called them 11% just so they stand out from the standard 80% AR-15 lower. I consider the HK lowers to be 11% left to complete, whereas the 80% lowers are 80% finished. If you look at the following pic, you will noticed they are very similar to a standard AR-15 80% lower...

DIY SUPPLIERS LIST 10% AR-45 Lower Receivers -Paperweights

$295.00

DISCONTINUED (Listed for reference purposes)

100% AR-45

$412.00

I wanted to stick with a normal AR-15 look and feel. I wanted to be able to drop the mag by pushing the mag release button with same hand I am holding the rifle with while at the same time reaching for another mag. This method would be a lot faster than the AK47 style of mag release. I also didn't want to move the location of the mag release button, since AR-15 users are already familiar with its current location. So I started to work on the solid model design of the receiver and I came up with something I thought would work. I'm going to call this new design the AR45. It will be using an Olympic Arms .45 cal upper receiver.

AR-15 Drilling Jig

$99.95

These new AR-15 lower receiver milling adapters allow you to remove the material from the fire control area in AR type lower receivers. The adapters are sold as sets. One adapter allows you to drill the hole locations and the other adapter allows you to remove the material using your drill press. With these adapters you can remove the material from the fire control pocket as well as the shelf inside the fire control pocket. The adapters have a hard anodized coating that is gray in color (shades of gray may vary). This hard anodize finish give the aluminum adapters very good wear resistance.

AR-15 Milling Adapter Kit

$124.95

The milling adapters can be used to finish AR-15, AR-10™ / DPMS (0.308), and AR45 style lower receivers. They have also been used to successfully complete Kevin's new 80% AR-15 lower receivers. Kevin has made it easier to complete an 80% lower receiver by leaving the fire control area solid, drilling most of the side holes and tapping the buffer tube hole. Visit the tutorial for more details on how to finish Kevin's new 80%'ers. You can get more details about Kevin's 80%'ers further down this page. Also visit the tutorial for details on how to modify your older style AR-15 drilling jig so the adapter kit will work with it.

DIY SUPPLIERS LIST Trigger Slot Milling Adapter Kit

$

If you want a super easy and error free way of cutting the trigger slot in your lower receiver then you need the trigger slot milling adapter plate. This adapter plate works just like the above milling adapter kit for the fire control pocket. You simply drill through the guided holes, flip the plate around and then use the slot in the plate to guide the included endmill to the exact location. Visit the bottom of this tutorial for more information on how to use this adapter plate. This adapter plate kit isn't absolutely necessary to finish a 80% lower but it will make your life easier.

The AR-15 Non-Anodized 80%Heat Treated 7075-T6 Alloy

$99.00

The Colfax Tactical Non anodized 80% lower is hand finished after machining. There is very little to do after completing the fire control pocket and the three holes in the side of the fire control area. The surface is ready for bead blasting, anodizing , painting, or polishing. All of the parting lines are removed, the trigger area is machined, the front of the mag well is machined smooth, and the curved area under the buffer area is hand smoothed to a beautiful finish.

The AR-15 Black Anodized 80%Heat Treated 7075-T6 Alloy

$109.00

The Colfax Tactical Black Anodized 80% lower is taken a step further than the non anodized in that it is bead blasted and professionally black anodized. The mil spec anodized surface will provide years of service.

Standard Fixture (AR Jig)

$99.00

The Colfax Tactical jig was designed for completing our 80% lowers. We machine our jigs in-house on a CNC vertical machining center insuring absolute accuracy. They will securely hold the lower in place while performing the finish machining. Included with the fixture are the necessary dowel pins and socket head cap screws to hold the fixture together. The jig's hardware is recessed flush with the fixture so that it can be secured in a vise. The jig has drilled and reamed holes to complete the hammer, trigger, and selector holes. OUR NEW FORGINGS ARE A HEAT TREATED 7075-T6 ALLOY. Colfax tactical is pleased to introduce the forged 80% 308 lower paper weight. After nearly two years in R&D, it’s finally here. We are currently shipping months of backorders from our “interested list”. Once we are caught up, we can satisfy current orders. You are welcome to place your on-line order. We should be able to ship current orders sometime this summer. And of course, we never charge your credit card prior to your 80%’er being ready to ship.

Jig-308

$129.00

The new Colfax Tactical 308 jig is a real departure from the norm. It utilizes a stand off approach rather than relying on entire surface contact. This results in a holding force much greater than that of a standard jig designed for AR15’s.The top plate is adjustable in terms of centering due to variances in forging widths. It is tall enough that the magazine area of the lower does not protrude beneath the jig. A set of dimensions and tips are available to facilitate easier machining. Although we are not recommending that these be used on a drill press, it is possible by those with experience. Additionally, this jig was designed for the Colfax Tactical forged lower. Most likely, it will not work for other manufactured 80%'ers. Included are the hammer, trigger, and selector guide holes.

DIY SUPPLIERS LIST

LEGAL INFORMATION FROM THE ATF:

1. Is it legal to assemble a firearm from commercially available parts kits? For your information, per provisions of the Gun Control Act (GCA) of 1968, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, an unlicensed individual may make a “firearm” as defined in the GCAfor his own personal use, but not for sale or distribution. The GCA, 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(3), defines the term “firearm” to include the following: … (A) any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may be readily converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive: (B) the frame or receiver of any such weapon; (C) any firearm muffler or silencer; or (D) any destructive device. Such term does not include an antique firearm. In addition, the National Firearms Act (NFA), 26 U.S.C. § 5845(b), defines the term “machinegun” as: … any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. This term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person. Finally, the GCA, 18 U.S.C. § 922(r), specifically states the following: It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under the…[GCA]…Section 925(d)(3).as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes …. Also, 27 C.F.R. § 478.39 states: … 1.

(a) No person shall assemble a semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun using more than 10 of the imported parts listed in paragraph (c) of this section if the assembled firearm is prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes ….

2.

(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to:

3.

(c) For purposes of this section, the term imported parts [tabulated below] are: 1.

(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings, or castings.

2.

(2) Barrels.

3.

(3) Barrel extensions.

4.

(4) Mounting blocks (trunnions).

5.

(5) Muzzle attachments.

6.

(6) Bolts.

7.

(7) Bolt carriers.

8.

(8) Operating rods.

9.

(9) Gas pistons.

10. (10) Trigger housings. 11. (11) Triggers. 12. (12) Hammers. 13. (13) Sears. 14. (14) Disconnectors. 15. (15) Buttstocks. 16. (16) Pistol grips. 17. (17) Forearms, handguards. 18. (18) Magazine bodies. 19. (19) Followers. 20. (20) Floor plates. … As a result of a 1989 study by the U.S. Treasury Department regarding the importability of certain firearms, an import ban was placed on military-style firearms. This ban included not only military-type firearms, but also extended to firearms with certain features that were considered to be “nonsporting.” Among such nonsporting features were the ability to accept a detachable magazine; folding/telescoping stocks; separate pistol grips; and the ability to accept a bayonet, flash suppressors, bipods, grenade launchers, and night sights. DIY SUPPLIERS LIST Please note that the foreign parts kits that are sold through commercial means are usually cut up machineguns, such as Russian AK-47 types, British Sten types, etc. Generally, an acceptable semiautomatic copy of a machinegun is one that has been significantly redesigned. The receiver must be incapable of accepting the original fire-control components that are designed to permit full automatic fire. The method of operation should employ a closed-bolt firing design that incorporates an inertia-type firing pin within the bolt assembly. Further, an acceptably redesigned semiautomatic copy of nonsporting firearm must be limited to using less than 10 of the imported parts listed in 27 CFR § 478.39(c). Otherwise, it is considered to be assembled into a nonsporting configuration per the provisions of 18 U.S.C. 925(d)(3) and is thus a violation of § 922(r). Individuals manufacturing sporting-type firearms for their own use need not hold Federal Firearms Licenses (FFLs). However, we suggest that the manufacturer at least identify the firearm with a serial number as a safeguard in the event that the firearm is lost or stolen. Also, the firearm should be identified as required in 27 CFR478.92 if it is sold or otherwise lawfully transferred in the future.

2. Does the GCA prohibit anyone from making a handgun, shotgun or rifle? With certain exceptions a firearm may be made by a non-licensee provided it is not for sale and the maker is not prohibited from possessing firearms. However, a person is prohibited from assembling a non-sporting semiautomatic rifle or non-sporting shotgun from imported parts. In addition, the making of an NFA firearm requires a tax payment and approval by ATF. An application to make a machine gun will not be approved unless documentation is submitted showing that the firearm is being made for a Federal or State agency. [18 U.S.C. 922(o) and (r), 26 U.S.C. 5822, 27 CFR 478.39, 479.62 and 479.105]
