The Current Developments in Primary Science in the Philippine/Global context: A SYNTHESIS Science education in our country cannot be considered as a strength. Based on 2014 statistics, the passing rate for the national achievement test (NAT) for grade six pupils is only 69.21%. The passing rate for high school seems far worse, with a passing rate of only 46.38% from 2010 statistics. Moreover, the Philippines consistently performs abysmally in international surveys Science education is a serious matter, perceived as important to directions of future national growth and development, capacities for personal and national problem solving and the creation of humane and egalitarian societies. In the early grades, students should be exposed to science as a “hands-on, minds on” process and encouraged to explore and raise questions about the world around them. As they go up the grades, they should develop skills to design and conduct investigations addressing self-, as well as teacher-generated questions, and involving identifying and controlling variables. Through the grades, students should develop abilities to systematically collect and organize data and communicate investigations, culminating in abilities to formulate explanations or models based on results of investigations. This paper consists of articles cited from different books, websites and authors of research papers about the current developments in primary science: The importance, current trends, aims, strategies, objectives and developments that educators and schools make, for the educational system and learning process of the students to be more effective, interactive and comprehensive. Education will be pointed out in the first part of this paper. Secondly, a brief historical development of science education will be presented. Then, some factors and reasons which can affect science education will be discussed. Finally, some suggestions for development will be considered.
The scolars and the teachers thinks of some ways and strategies on how to teach science and what science is needed to be taught because science has also a widescope of content and in this years that have been building up and making the curriculum of science is somewhat difficult to the teachers but the main idea has been brought and that is the pedagogy is not in the content but to let the students ask questions that would be answered by experiencing , investigating, analysis and experimentation.
