SIZING
Many of my testers went up a size or two to create super comfy, oversized arms
SIZE COLOUR CODE XS, S, M, L, XL
For sizes smaller or larger than the graded sizes here, continue the sizing up pattern across the body panels and sleeves for the correct scaling e.g add a row to the body length every 2 sizes, add a shell across every size and add a shell to the stitches across on the sleeve width when going up a size.
Though you can mix and match the sizing of

VARIATIONS LONG SLEEVES (29 rows of trc shell st)

BODY PANEL MAKE 2 PANELS: The front and back panels are exactly the same. Follow the instructions closely, if you prefer the fit, you can crochet different size body panels to sleeves and attach them e.g tighter sleeves with a looser body etc. The most important thing is that the shrug is long enough to cover shoulder to shoulder.
Foundation Row. Ch64, 70, 76, 82, 88 hold the last st and ch5 more sts. Trc into the stitch you are holding, 5 chs from your hook.
Row 1. 2trc into the held st, ch2, 2trc into the same st. Skip 2sts and place 1trc into the next st. Skip 2 sts and place 2trc into the next st, ch2, 2 trcs into the same st. Skip 2sts and place 1trc into the next st. Skip 2sts and place 2trc, ch2, 2trc into the next st. Repeat this pattern until the end of the row, placing 1 trc into the last st.

Row 2. Turn your work and ch3 to start the row (eq of. 1trc) 2trc into the chsp of the shell from below, ch2, 2trc into the chsp again. Skip the trc post below and place 2trc directly into the chsp of the shell below, ch2, 2trc into the shell chsp again. Repeat this pattern of trc shells into the chsp of the shells below until you reach the end of the row. Place 1trc on top of the ch below to end the row.
Row 3 -Onwards. Ch3 at the beginning of each row (eq of. 1trc) and repeat this pattern until desired length is reached
NUMBER OF ROWS: 10 -11 -11 - 12- 13
You will finish this panel with a sc edge (on the next page), then make another so you have 2 equal pieces for your front and back body

BODY PANEL EDGING For the pink version of this shrug, featured in the cover photo, I used a slightly lighter pink to highlight the edging sc stitches!
Ch2 and turn your work (eq. of a sc). sc into every st in the row, placing 3sc into the side of each shell. In the last st, to turn, place 1 sc, ch2, 1sc. Turn your work so you are working down the shorter side of your piece. Sc into every st down the row. Into the last st place 1sc, ch2, 1sc and turn your work so you are working down the next longest side. continue these steps until you have returned to the corner where you started. Cut your yarn and pull through to fasten.
Now, make another one so you have 2 panels with sc edging

THE SLEEVES
The sleeves follow the same style of pattern for rows 1 and 2 as the body panels do!
Foundation Row. Ch54, 60, 66, 72, 78 and slst into your first stitch to create a circle. Row 1. Ch3 (eq of. 1trc), skip 2 sts, 2trc into the next st, ch2, 2trc into the same st. Skip 2 sts, 1trc into the next st, skip 2 sts, 2trc, ch2, 2trc etc... Row 2 -27 onwards. Turn your work for every row. Continue this trc shell pattern, remembering to finish every row with a trc into the last st and ch3 at the start of every row (eq of. 1trc) (no trcs in this row onwards, except the beginning ch) For the last edging row. Ch2 and turn your work to start the row. Place a sc into every st below, at the chsp place 1sc, ch2, place 1sc into the same chsp, and continue this pattern until you have finished the round for that row. Cut your yarn and pull through to fasten. (Sc row, 1dc, ch2, 1dc into the chsp below)

For extra Long sleeves I crocheted 29 rows of Trc Shell St. For a 'regular fit' i recommend 27 rows of Trc Shell St.
Upper Arm Edging. Attach your yarn to the first row at the top of your sleeve, pulling through a slipknot to start. Ch2 to start the row. 2sc into every gap, 1 sc into each shell st, 2sc into the gap, 1 sc into the trc below, 2sc into the gap, 1sc into the shell st, etc etc. Slst into the top of your first st and cut your yarn and pull through to fasten (sc row, 1sc into every st in the foundation row below)
The sc edging of the upper sleeve ensures an even and neat finish for you to attach your shoulder/body piece to in the next couple of steps

ATTACHING THE PANELS AND SLEEVES At this point you can choose how big or small your neck hole will be, the larger the hole the more off the shoulder your piece will be, the smaller the hole, the higher and tighter it will be
At this point, you will need to attach your front and back body pieces together (if you can, after attaching your body pieces is the perfect time to try on your piece to make sure the arm holes sit well and that the length is long/short enough for you). Attaching body panels and forming the neck hole. With the "correct sides" facing together, attach your yarn to the top right corner of your pieces. Ch2 to start the row and sc into the next 12 sts, inserting your hook through the BACK ONLY of the scs from the row below. This creates a neat line at the front (including the slst this is 13 sts in total).

Attaching the sleeves to the body panels. Line up your sleeve to the side of your body piece. Find your centre st, by halving the total number of sts across, and place a st marker in it, along with the first st you counted from e.g Size M = 60sts across. Mark the 1st and 30th sts (do not worry about being too precise if you have no exact central st, your sleeves will still come out great!) Use your stitch Marker to attach the
marked sleeve sts to the
corresponding sts on the body piece (e.g 30sts on either side of your piece)
Attach: create a slip knot and pull through both the sleeve and body to attach your pieces together. Ch2 and sc your way down the side,
attaching
the
pieces
together. Continue to sc around the other side. Cut your yarn and pull through to fasten.

CONGRATULATIONS
You have finished your Triple Crochet Shell Shrug!!
P.s. Though blocking your piece is not 100% necessary. It helps to neaten up your finished project so it lays flat 13
