Materials:

“Easter decorations” Cozy egg: chick, bunny, frog, sheep, dragon, rooster, bird Designed by Rnata

• 2.5 mm hook • Cotton yarn (I used Catania “Schachenmayr”) in yellow (280), white (106), light brown (257), red (115), cream (130), green (430), pink (225), light grey (172), blue (247), yellow (208), munt (385), light blue (173). • Black embroidery thread • Safety eyes 6.00 mm • Stuffing • Yarn needle • Stitch marker I used black thread

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology. Instructions are easy to follow if you are familiar with basic crochet techniques. The sizes of the Easter toys are approximately 57 cm. It may vary though depending on the kind of yarn and hook size used. You can also use any color of yarn. Feel free to add accessories to your very own Easter eggs.

“Cozy egg - rooster”

BODY

Rnd 15-20: sc around [42], 6 rounds Attach the safety eyes between rounds 16 and 17 with 9 st between. Skip 16 st from the beginning, attach the first eye, then skip 9 st and attach the second eye (fig 3).

Use light brown (257) yarn.

How to change the color of yarn: With the two loops from the previous yarn on the hook (fig 1), wrap the new yarn around the hook, then pull the new yarn through the two loops of the stitch (fig 2). 1

COMB Use the red (115) yarn.

WATTLE (make 2) Use the red (115) yarn.

Rnd 1: 8 sc in magic ring [8] Fasten off. Fold the wattle in half and sew two stitches together as show on photos 12 and 13.

Sew the beak between the eyes and rounds 15 and 18 (fig 16). 16

WINGS (make 2) Use the light brown (257) yarn.

BODY Using yellow (280) yarn, follow the top-down body pattern on page 2, change the yarn to cream from the round 14 (fig 1).

COMB Use the red (115) yarn.

Rnd 1: 8 sc in magic ring [8] Rnd 2: (inc) x8, (fig 2) [16] Rnd 3: crochet 2 chains. Start in second chain from the hook: slip stitch in this chain (fig 3). It would be a first piece. Then fold the circle in half and make a single crochet in next stitch (across two stitches) (fig 4). Ch 2, start in second chain from the hook: slip stitch in this chain (fig 5, 6). Repeat these two steps 7 times more. Make a sc in last stitch. You should have 8 pieces. Cut the yarn, leave a tail for sewing. • see the short video in my Instagram page

SPIKES (make 3) Use the green (430) yarn.

BODY Using mint (385) yarn, follow the top-down body pattern on page 2, change the yarn to cream from the round 14 (fig 1).

ASSEMBLING: Place and sew the spikes vertical on the body as shown on photos 2, 3 and 4. 2

HORNS (make 2) Use the white (106) yarn.

BODY Using blue (247) yarn, follow the top-down body pattern on page 2, change the yarn to cream from the round 14 (fig 1).

Skip 16 st from the beginning, attach the first eye, then skip 9 st and attach the second eye (fig 4). 3 Change the yarn to cream. Rnd 15-16: sc around [42], 2 rounds Change the yarn to yellow (280). Rnd 17: yellow yarn: 14 sc, cream yarn: 15 sc, yellow yarn: 13 sc, (fig 2, 3) [42] Cut the yellow yarn and continue with cream yarn. • Tip: give the tail of the previous yarn a nice tug when changing yarn colors, to prevent loose stitches. You will notice the big loops at the back. Make sure the loops are loose enough to stretch when you stuff the body (fig 3). Otherwise, you will have a scrunched bird. Attach the safety eyes between rounds 16 and 17 with 9 st between.

Use the blue (247) yarn.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6] Cut the yarn, leave a tail for sewing (fig 7).

HAIR Use yellow (280) yarn.

Ch 8, make a slst in first chain st. Ch 10, make a slst in first chain st (fig 8). Cut the yarn, leave a tail for sewing.

Sew the wings between rounds 16 and 17 (fig 12).

BODY Using green (430) yarn, follow the top-down body pattern on page 2, change the yarn to cream from the round 14 (fig 1, 2, 3).

Insert your hook in next stitch of inner ear, pick up the loop of outer ear, chain 1 (fig 13, 14). Again insert your hook in the same two stitches and make a sc. Make a sc in next 11 st by going throght inner and outer ear (fig 15). Invisible fasten off (fig 16). Fold the ear in half and sew 4 st together (fig 17, 18).
