"Doodle notes" are artistic and unique visual note-taking method with built-in features that increase focus and memory in learning. This helps the brain to process certain kinds of information. Doodle notes are good for representing your ideas and understandings. A mix of handwriting and hand drawing makes it easy and effective to capture what you see, hear, and think. They are also called sketch notes or graphic recordings. Directions: On a clean sheet of paper with your complete name, section and subject written at the top, create a Doodle Notes about Quadratic Equation. Read the rubrics below for you to be guided. While drawing, think about a lot of things; Which information is important? How are they related? How do I describe them? Am I able to draw my thoughts?

QUESTIONS:

1. How would you describe the "Doodle notes" you’ve created in your own words?

_________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. Do you Agree or Disagree that creating Doodle note increase focus and memory in learning? Why?

I’m getting there! (7 POINTS)

Not there yet! (5 POINTS)

Notes CLEARLY contain main concepts followed by supporting details Exceptionally clever and unique in showing deep understanding. Exceptionally attractive and particularly neat in design and layout. No grammatical or mechanical mistakes in the project. Submit and present the project on time.

Notes are missing a FEW main concepts OR all ideas do not contain supporting details A few original touches enhance the project to show some understanding of the material. Acceptably attractive but may be messy at times and/or show lack of organization. Several grammatical/ mechanical mistakes which are distracting. Submit and present the project 1 to 5 days late.

Notes are missing MANY main concepts AND/OR are missing many supporting details Shows little creativity, originality and/or effort in understanding the Material. Distractingly messy or very poorly designed. Does not show pride in work. Many grammatical or mechanical mistakes throughout the project. Clearly not proofread. Submit and present the project more than 5 days late.

First Quarter Performance Task #2 Mathematics 9 Name: _____________________________________ Section: ____________________________________ Materials: ➒ three pieces of colored paper ➒ stapler/ glue ➒ coloring materials

Score: _______________ Date: ________________

FOLD & FLIP NOTES

STEPS: 1. You will need three pieces of colored paper. You can use all one color, but I prefer to use three different colors. Copy paper works best, but construction paper will also do the job. 2. Next, line up the papers so that they overlap, with a small β€œtab” left for each color. 3. Then fold the paper over so that you get six tabs in all and staple the top to make it into a book. 4. Now it is time to label the cover and the tabs. This foldable is being used for representing the quadratic equation, so the front cover is labeled β€œQuadratic equation” and each tab is labeled with a different way that the quadratic equation can be solve, Solving Quadratic Equation by Extracting Square Roots, Solving Quadratic Equation by Factoring, Solving Quadratic Equation by Completing the Square, Solving Quadratic Equation by the Quadratic Formula, and Reflection. 5. Now students can write/draw on each page. For example, on the Solving Quadratic Equation by Extracting Square Roots page students should write as many equations with solutions as show their understanding the topic. 6. This foldable is great for consolidating learning at the end of a grading, and as a form of summative assessment. They look great in student portfolios and can make a nice bulletin board display.

QUESTIONS: 1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of Fold and Flip Notes you created.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. Determine the value of Fold and Flip Notes you created.
