PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY

A. ENGAGE 1. Reviewing of the past lesson “So before we proceed to our next topic, Who can give me the recap of the last topic that we had last week?” Okay Mr.Paul.

STUDENT’S ACTIVITY Ma’am! (students raised their hands to give recap) Ma’am, last meeting we discussed about the Social Science. And as what you have taught, Social Science is the study of historical, cultural, sociological, psychological, and political forces that shape the actions of individuals and its impact on society.

Very good, Mr. Paul. Thank you. Now do you have any clarifications about our previous topic? None, Ma’am! (The students answered in chorus.) So for today class, we are going to discuss about the different disciplines in Social Sciences and you will identify and differentiate each of these disciplines in Social Science.

B. EXPLORE “Before we proceed to our next lesson. Let’s have an activity first. Do you know how to play Yes, ma’am! (The students answered in 4 pics 1 word?” chorus.) “Okay class, I will group you into 9. For each group, I provided a rumbled letters and four pictures that we’re attached on manila paper. Those four pictures will serve as hint for you to arrange those rumbled letters. After you came up to your answer, you will post it on the blackboard. The fastest group that correctly answered the 4 pics 1 word will declare winner and receive a reward. Do you understand? (The teacher will distribute the materials needed for the activity) “Your 3 minutes start now!” (Students will post the manila paper with (after 3)… “Time is up! Paste all the manila their answer on the board.) papers on the blackboard! (2 minutes checking of the activity) 4 pics 1 word for group 1 is ANTHROPOLOGY

4 pics 1 word for group 2 is ECONOMICS 4 pics 1 word for group 3 is GEOGRAPHY 4 pics 1 word for group 4 is HISTORY 4 pics 1 word for group 5 is LINGUISTICS 4 pics 1 word for group 6 is POLITICAL SCIENCE 4 pics 1 word for group 7 is PSYCHOLOGY 4 pics 1 word for group 8 is SOCIOLOGY 4 pics 1 word for group 9 is DEMOGRAPHY Ma’am, I think Anthropology is the study of society. So, group 1 what do you think of Anthropology based on the picture? Ma’am, I guess Economics is the study of production and money. How about you group 2 what do you think of Economics? Ma’am, I guess Geography is the study of environment. And group 3, how about you what is Geography for you? Ma’am, History I think is the study of the past. Group 4, what do you understand about History? Ma’am, Linguistic is the study of language.

Alright! Group 5, what about Linguistics what it is all about? Ma’am, I think Political Science is the study of politics and government. Group 6, any representative who can tell me her/his knowledge about what is Political Science? Ma’am, Psychology is the study of behavior. How about the Group 7, what do you understand when you hear the word Ma’am, I guess Sociology is the study of Psychology? society as whole. Group 8, what do you think is Sociology? And lastly, Group 9 what do you think is Demography all about? Okay very good answer class! “So for our activity, the fastest group that answered the 4 pics 1 word correctly is the group ____” (The teacher then give the reward) “Very good class, clap your hands for the well done activity.”

Ma’am, Demography is the study of population.

C. EXPLAIN Ma’am, I observed that our activity was “Okay class, what did you observe about our about the 9 disciplines of Social Science activity? What do you think is our lesson for and I guess that will be our topic for today. today? Okay, Ms. Fae “You got it right! Thank you Ms. Fae.” “Our lesson for today is about the 9 Disciplines of Social Science. So what Mr. Alfred said a while ago about Anthropology is correct. It is the study of humanity but here’s more about it. (Power point presentation) 1. ANTHROPOLOGY Known as the 'science of humanity', anthropology covers a broad range of topics – from human behaviour, to cultural relations, and how the evolution of humanity has influenced society's structure. In short, Anthropology is the study of ancient societies and their cultural tradition. Next will be Economics. 2. ECONOMICS Economics it is the study of efficient allocation of scarce resources in order to satisfy unlimited human needs and wants. Economics is usually broken down into two subdisciplines: Macroeconomics looks at the performance of the economy as a whole. Many macroeconomic issues appear in the news daily. Economic students study topics such as economic growth; inflation; changes in employment and unemployment, our trade performance with other countries and the relative success or failure of government economic policies and the policies made by the Federal Reserve. Microeconomics looks at economics at the

level of individual consumers, groups of consumers, or firms. The general concern of microeconomics is the efficient allocation of scarce resources between alternative uses. Yes, ma’am! (The students answered in Microeconomics looks at the determination of chorus.) price through the optimizing behavior of consumers and firms; with consumers seeking to maximize happiness and firms, profit. “Do you get it class?” The third is Geography. 3. GEOGRAPHY Geography provides insights about the earth as the human habitat. It is a way of looking at the earth, not an inventory of its contents. The cultural appraisal of the earth, the regional concept, areal coherence, human ecology, spatial interaction, study of landscape, and the concept of change are all ways the geographer tries to better understand the environment. So what Ms. Almira said a while ago is right, Geography is the study of interaction between the natural environment and the people living in it. The next will be History. 4. HISTORY History is the study of the past. It is by nature an extremely broad discipline that includes an analysis of individuals and groups, events and phenomena, long-term trends, short-term trends, institutions, societies and cultures. The fifth is about Linguistic. 5. LINGUISTIC Linguistics is the study of language – looking at its form, context, or meaning. Rather than learning to speak a particular language, it's more about how language itself works. Within linguistics, there is a broad range of study, from looking at grammar, to language

acquisition or the evolution of language. The next one is Political Science. Mr. Errol said a while ago that it is the study of politics and government is right. 6. POLITICAL SCIENCE Political Science is the study of government, its structure and the activity associated with it. It is a body of knowledge about the state in its various manifestations; politics, refers to the actual operations of a political system. The seventh discipline is Psychology. 7. PSYCHOLOGY Psychology is the science concerned with behavior, both human and nonhuman— animal.. Psychology studies the intersection of two critical relationships: one between brain function and behavior, and one between the environment and behavior. Psychology is the study of mental processes, cognition, and behavior. The eight will be about Sociology. 8. SOCIOLOGY Sociology is the systematic study of people and their institutions. It is one of the most broad and diverse social science disciplines in academia whereby virtually every social domain is critically examined and analyzed. Sociologists study marriage and romantic relationships, interpersonal communication, social psychology, poverty and inequality, race and ethnicity, religion, culture, aging, the Yes, Ma’am! (The students answered in media, sports, health care, crime and chorus.) deviance, nationalism, social movements, and globalization just to name a few topics. Lastly, the Demography. 9. DEMOGRAPHY Demography is the interdisciplinary study of human populations. It deals with the social characteristics of the population and their

development through time. Class, do you now understand the different disciplines of Social Science? (students looking for their groups) D. ELABORATE “Now we will have again an activity, this is called Poster Making Contest. The class will be divided again into 9 groups, same group that we have a while ago. Each group will be given a white cartolina, crayons, pencil and pentel pen to use for the said activity. The poster should include drawings and at least 1 sentence of what you understand about your assigned discipline. Each group will be given at least 10-15 minutes to create their output. Okay, do you understand me class? Okay so go to your group. Class, the time starts now. 4 pics 1 word for group 1 is ANTHROPOLOGY 4 pics 1 word for group 2 is ECONOMICS 4 pics 1 word for group 3 is GEOGRAPHY 4 pics 1 word for group 4 is HISTORY 4 pics 1 word for group 5 is LINGUISTICS 4 pics 1 word for group 6 is POLITICAL SCIENCE 4 pics 1 word for group 7 is PSYCHOLOGY 4 pics 1 word for group 8 is SOCIOLOGY 4 pics 1 word for group 9 is DEMOGRAPHY (after 15 minutes) Class presenting, group 1…. 2….. 3……. 4…..5… 6….7……8……9….. Okay class. Thank you for presenting and participating. All your works are good! So, to sum up our discussion for today we discussed about the 9 disciplines of social science and its field of study.
