IMPORTANT TIPS:

It is recommended to crochet tightly by using a smaller crochet hook. Try to work every part using the same stitch tension. Count your stitches. Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark beginning/ending of the round. Each round is worked in a continuous spiral. Do not join rounds with slip stitch or turn unless stated otherwise. Crochet through both loops unless stated otherwise. It is highly recommended that you read through the entire pattern before starting to crochet.

PETALS

Make 3 in peach and 3 in pink

Please work a little bit loosely while crocheting the petals/skirt. Crochet around the foundation chain. Work in rows. R1: Make foundation ch: 13ch, start from the second loop from the hook: 4hdc, 5dc, 2hdc, inc3 at the last chain. Then continue to work using the other side of the chains: 2hdc, 5dc, 4hdc (25), 1ch R2: turn, 4hdc, hdc inc, 6hdc, 3inc, 6hdc, hdc inc, 4hdc (30), 1ch R3: turn, 8hdc, hdc inc, 3hdc, [sc, inc]x3, 3hdc, hdc inc, 8hdc (35), 1ch R4: turn, 14sc, [inc, 2sc]x3, 12sc (38), 1ch R5: turn, 17sc, hdc inc3, 2sl st, hdc inc3, 17sc (42) Fasten off, leaving about 10 cm long tail.

Now we will work the skirt. Please remember to work a little bit loosely and use normal decrease instead of invisible decrease (only when working the petal skirt). Attach a new piece of pink/peach yarn onto the flat side of the pink petal.

Make 1ch, then work in rounds: R1: 12sc x 3 petals (36) For each color, join the petals with the yarn tail using the whip stitch technique in 4 stitches. Do this until all the petals in the same colors are joined as a circle. 1 2 3 4

Continue working the skirt by working through both pink and peach petals. R4 : [2sc, dec]x6 (18) Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Do an invisible finish. Count 3 st before the last st (4 st before the st made by the invisible finish), and mark it with a stitch marker. Hide and secure the tail by weaving in ends. The skirt will be joined together with the body later.

For peach petal, do not fasten off, we will continue to join both petals.

Starting from R9, we will crochet using pink and skin color yarn alternately. To simplify the writing, the light peach color of the font below corresponds to the skin color yarn. R9: 15sc, 6sc, 15sc (36) R10: 14sc, 8sc, 14sc (36) R11: 13sc, 10sc, 13sc (36) R12-15 (4 rounds): 13sc, 11sc, 12sc (36) R16: [4sc, dec]x2, 2sc, 2sc, dec, 4sc, dec, [4sc, dec]x2 (30) R17: [3sc, dec]x2, 2sc, sc, dec, 3sc, dec, [3sc, dec]x2 (24) R18: [2sc, dec]x2, 2sc, dec, 2sc, dec, [2sc, dec]x2 (18) R19: [sc, dec]x6 (12) Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill. R20: BLO 6dec (6) Fasten off, leave a yarn tail. Using your yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tight to close. Hide the tail. Mark the second FL after the first st of the R18 with a stitch marker.

BODY & STEM

The body is worked at the FL left of R19 (you worked R20 BLO). Attach the skin color yarn at marked st.

R20: Make 1ch, FLO [sc, inc]x6 (18) Change to green. R21-24 (4 rounds): 18sc (18) R25a: FLO [5ch, sl st to the next st]x18 (18) Fasten off and cut the yarn. The first back loop of R24 (you worked R25a FLO) will be used for joining the petal skirt with the body. first back loop of R24

Hold the skirt with the pink petal facing outside. Insert the body so the last round the of body and the skirt meet together. With a new piece of green yarn, insert the hook through the marked st of the skirt and then also the first back loop of R24 of the body, and make a loop.

R25b: 1ch, 1sc in the first st. Continue working through both layers (petal skirt and BLO of the body): 17sc (18) first back loop of R24 of the body back loop of the body

Stop for a while to check whether the position of the skirt is correct as shown in picture below. If the position of the skirt doesn’t match the picture, you can adjust it by moving the st of the skirt where you join the skirt to the body.

Using the yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tight to close. Hide the tail. Take another piece of green yarn. Hold the flower upside down. Attach the green yarn at the FL left of R25b (you worked R26 BLO).

Make 1ch. Then work 18sc around. Sl st to the first sc. Fasten off. Hide and secure the tail. Continue to crochet using the green yarn. R26: BLO 18sc (18) Start to stuff the body with fiberfill and continue stuffing as you go. R27: [4sc, dec]x3. (15) R28: [3sc, dec]x3 (12) R29: [2sc, dec]x3 (9) R30-41 (12 rounds): 9sc (9) stuff the stem firmly with fiberfill. R42: [sc, dec]x3 (6) Fasten off. Leave a tail. Optional: you can use wire so the stem can be articulated. Cut a thin wire (diameter 0.5 mm) about 8 cm long, bend one of the tips, and wrap it with a little fiberfill and tape. Then insert the wire into the stem carefully until all the wire goes inside the stem.

LEAVES (make 2)

Start with green yarn. R1: 6sc in MR (6) R2: [2sc, inc]x2 (8) R3: 8sc (8) R4: [3sc, inc]x2 (10) R5-7 (3 rounds): 10sc (10) R8: [3sc, dec]x2 (8) R9: 8sc (8) R10: [2sc, dec]x2 (6) R11: 6sc (6) No need to stuff. Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing. Flatten and attach the leaves to the stem, between R41-42 and R39-40 (see picture at the last page).
